WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
I recently placed a Black Friday order with MOVA Globes and had a very disappointing experience. Their website advertised 25% off and free shipping, but when I entered my Canadian address, free shipping disappeared without any clear notice and I was charged for shipping instead.
At checkout, the final total shown to me was 325.75 CAD, and there was no warning anywhere that I would be required to pay additional fees. After the product shipped, UPS informed me that I had to pay another 144.66 CAD in import duties and brokerage fees just to receive the item. These fees were never disclosed on the website, in the checkout flow or by customer support.
I contacted MOVA before purchasing, and the agent reviewed my Canadian address but still failed to mention any of these charges. After the unexpected fees appeared, MOVA refused escalation, offered no solution, and told me the case was closed.
In the end, the actual cost of the product was about 44% higher than what was advertised and charged at checkout.
I first saw a MOVA Globe in Zermatt and I was impressed. I wanted to get one customised but was told at the shop that this was not possible. Several months later, I was put in contact with Emily at MOVA Globe Sales, and she explained that customisation was available with payment of a one-time “design deposit”. Emily guided me through the process to create a 4.5” customised globe marked with small red dots at places in the world that are meaningful for my wife. The resulting globe is utterly perfect! The process to create it was thorough and ensured that what resulted was exactly what I wanted. It was also quite quickly done and the globe is now wrapped and waiting for my wife to open it at Christmas time! I highly recommend the customisation option. It’s not inexpensive, but it is worth it.
I wish I could give a zero star - they left our product at the front door in full view of neighbourhood and guess what it dissapeared - never even saw it. There response oh well we did what we could - did you really ? you sent via a courier that left it and did not even get a signature, I think given the cost that it should have at least needed to be signed for. No offer of any compenstion etc. Disgusting service and my advice DO NOTPURCHASE from this company
Bought two of these with different world maps on a cruise to use up “onboard credit”. They looked great in the ships gift shop but both developed air bubbles soon after getting them set up at home. Contacted the company about the issue and the warranty. Because they were purchased on a cruise I was told I would have to send them overseas at my expense for assessment with no guarantee they would be repaired or replaced under warranty. That would have been an expensive punt so they remain in their boxes. Later ran into a fellow passenger on a subsequent cruise that had the same issue and he did send it overseas for assessment. He was told the cause was negligent handling so no claim. If these things are so fragile they can’t travel don’t buy one if you can’t see it working before you pay, can hand carry it home and you can make a warranty claim where you live. While they look great when working they are clearly an expensive fragile toy best avoided.
Mova Globes look absolutely fantastic and the talking point of most visitors. However, in my experience that look does not last long and mine became the talking point for all the wrong reasons. Mine developed an air bubble very soon after purchase and Mova told me it would be replaced if it got any larger and they said it n would be covered by the warranty. Needless to say, the air bubble did get larger and is now 25% of the eight inch globe. I wrote to Mova and they said they would look at it but when I informed them I purchased it (about £500) on a cruise ship in the Caribbean they suggested I return it to Germany at my expense. I have no intention of do that and the globe is now an eyesore and one day I will bring myself to bin it.
