Close call - dodged a ballistic missile

Close call thank goodness

Just had this from MPC give us more money and we will do the job !

Classic Bait and switch ! Beware !!!
Last email from them went .
“ hello … Unfortunately, due to the high cost of the required materials, the available funding does not cover this project. Consequently, we are unable to proceed with the installation at this time, and the work has been placed on hold indefinitely.

If you would like a quotation for the contribution required to move forward, we can provide one. However, please be advised that the amount will be substantial.”

Surveys non existence of evidence of costing not provided - no breakdown of elements.

Over promised from day one delivered nothing but a plea for more cash ?

Four disappointing months later raised hopes of an energy efficient home they just wanted more cash to go ahead ?

Seeing other 1 star reviews we had a close call - should have read trust pilot sooner … don’t entertain their story’s stay well clear …

We asked for additional contribution costs nothing was sent to us despite asking several reps and the sender of the email Sophie and all that was repeated was it will cost more and a question to clarify compromise scope of work was met with it will cost a lot more with no details … so how can one make an informed decision without all the information.

Dear Ian,

While it is correct that a customer contribution was required for your insulation work, this was only due to the extensive preparation required at your property. We agreed to provide a cost breakdown after explaining how Eco4 funding works but this review was submitted before we were able to do so.

Our communications consistently state that all measures remain proposed until a technical survey is completed. This stage is essential to determine the final installation costs and confirm whether a project can be fully funded.

We understand that many customers may not be in a position to contribute financially. As such, we advised that a contribution would be necessary and asked if you would like to receive the cost details first. We also offered to explore which measures could be fully funded to reduce your costs, but again, this review was submitted before we could respond.

Best regards,
MPC Energy

Excellent service provided by MPC…

Excellent service provided by MPC Energy.

Starting with the initial grant application for replacing a very old boiler and gravity central heating system, to the final touches of the project, I had the support from the admin team. Sophie, Sophie-Anna and Suzy kept me informed promptly about the documents approval. Jodie and Sean coordinated every stage of the jobs. All communications with the office were fast and efficient, and the staff polite and always helpful.

Sabina did the survey, explaining the need of necessary improvements to comply with the regulations. As a result, under-floor insulation had to be done. Despite the narrow access, Bruce did the installation professionally with no mess after him. A very nice and kind man.

The central heating upgrade was very complicated, but the team managed to finish in one day. Billy, Ryan and Greg started at 8am and worked non-stop until after 5pm. Old water system was drained and disconnected, a new boiler was installed in the kitchen and 8 radiators re-piped and flushed so efficiently and with minimal disturbance that I did not believe it is possible. The operatives left the site clean, all floorboards and carpets were reinstated and the furniture moved back to place. Very impressive indeed, taking into account that the boys had to travel to Dundee and back. They were very kind and polite, constantly assuring me that everything is going well and I do not need to warry.

The boiler and the controller were connected by electricians Nicky and Sam. Everything regarding operation was explained in detail, even the controller was programmed for me, for what I am very grateful.

The external brick work was done by Bruce and Michael. They carefully closed the opening left from the old boiler making sure that insulation material is packed in the cavity before hand. Very clean and tidy job.

Ventilation work was done by Philip and Verek. Philip installed a fan in the kitchen above the wall units. He did such a clean work that I had very little to do after him. Philip also washed the wall outside from dust and debris. Another wonderful operative with great work ethic. The job was completed by Verek who wired the fan and made an extra effort to make the trunking almost invisible. This kind and pleasant man impressed me with his sense for presentation and aesthetics. Thank you Philip and Verek.

I would like to say a big thank you to all operatives and admin support staff of MPC Energy who have been involved with my project. I was anxious about the work for years knowing that it is just a matter of time before I need to face it. When the grant was approved, I was really worried how and who will do it. From the very first contact with the office, to the cosmetic final details, I only experienced total satisfaction at any level. All operatives being involved were fantastic as people as well as skilled employees. For a serious job affecting my whole house, professionalism and kindness count a lot. I felt a valued customer, regardless that I am not paying from my own pocket.

I am glad and happy telling everyone about my new boiler experience and the company which was appointed to carry out the work.

Final thank you from Totka Lefedjiev, Dundee

MPC did a fantastic job at installing…

MPC did a fantastic job at installing insulation, heating and solar at my property.

Despite the challenges presented by my old property, the MPC in-house team handled everything professionally. Their experience and knowledge in their respective trades were evident throughout the project.

The joiners, Shawn, Paul, and Sash, did an excellent job with the wall insulators, providing a fast, clean, and professional service. Billy's plastering work was of the highest standard.

Jim and Luke were fantastic at installing the heating system. They faced numerous issues related to the property's layout but overcame them with their innovation and problem-solving skills. Having had several engineering jobs done in the past, I can confidently say that Jim and Luke are in a different class.

Philip added the finishing touches and installed the ventilation, demonstrating exceptional skills.

The project was managed and coordinated by Jodie, who kept me fully informed and updated from start to finish. Jodie went the extra mile to ensure the job went smoothly.

Overall, MPC did a fantastic job, and I highly recommend their services.

Incompetent, dangerous, rude, complacent

MPC have, to date, had to be contacted no less than twelve times (so far), over the course of several months, to repair/finish works from various damages and dangerously negligent works left at my property. These include-

-Loose wiring creating melted casings and creating fire hazards
-Holes punched through walls
-Electrical sockets pulled out of wall and left hanging by live wires
- Radiators coming away from walls due to improper fixing
-Leaks in my system
-Non functioning Solar panels
-Splintered/missing flooring, leaving me with multiple holes and dangerously unsupported boards, through which I can clearly see un-insulated piping and which are in no way safe to weight bear.
-Lack of certification on works. No signed/dated installation sticker, operating booklet or certificate of installation for either solar panels or heating system.
-Office staff who offer communication of a level so poor that I am constantly having to chase them up for details of repair visits which frequently do not materialise or for which I was sent conflicting sets of information. It takes myself having to contact their office to be informed of missed/mishandled appointments. I've had complaints to customer service shrugged off with replies of "I'm no an engineer". I was told several times by more than one staff member that they had no customer contactable managers until an assistant seemingly summoned one from within their office when they didn't want to listen to my extensive reciting of their incompetence. There was absolutely no accountability or consideration shown for the customer's experience.

I have had a senior MPC engineer out to examine my most recently discovered problem. He was visibly horrified at the obvious signs of negligence and lack of professionalism from every aspect of the installers' works, as well as by the comically poor standards of communication from their office/admin staff, who they themself described as 'not the best'.

I have only discovered most of these faults via observations made by my own team of trusted tradespeople during my home renovations. I would otherwise have likely not uncovered these problems until they'd caused me much greater risk, stress and expense at a later date.

Being part of a government grant scheme, my case is now being handled by my local MSP/Energy ombudsman, as MPC seem unwilling/unable to complete the simplest task to a bare minimum standard.

As part of a government grant scheme, I can at least say that my experience of MPC Energy was just about worth what I paid for them,.. which was nothing.

This company should be stopped

This company should be stopped. Absolutely wrecked my house. I had to get 4 ceilings plastered because of these so called professionals. They were supposed to put 12 solar panels on but only put 4, I complained and managed to get another 4 so ended up with 8. Stay well clear!!!!!!! I've got pictures but can't load them.

Mpc energy. You are right about the date, this is the latest date I could put in. I have early onset dementia and was stressed out of my head with how much yous made a mess of my house. I did tell yous not to come back because your work was an absolute shambles. I have many pictures of the mess. Since yous left the amount of money I’ve spent has been ridiculous on fixing issues made by your company. I would put the pictures up but don’t know how to do it

You have also stated that your experience date was January 2024 but our records show that it was in fact April 2023, any operatives with the company at this time were not with us in Jan 24 so we request that this date is amended to accurately reflect your experience.

Underfloor & Loft Insulation

We had underfloor insulation and loft insulation installed by MPC Energy. The team were extremely helpful getting paperwork to me in advance to allow me to submit grant applications. They also secured a grant directly for one specific area of the work. Everyone i interacted with at MPC (office team, installation team) was professional. helpful and efficient.

This is how businesses should be run

We recently had an air source heat pump, loft insulation and solar panels fitted under an energy obligation scheme. I was a slightly anxious as it really all seemed too good to be true and I did not know this company. From start to finish, every single person I dealt with was knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and professional. The installation went without a hitch, any problems being quickly dealt with by the team, who were delightful and respectful.
I am genuinely astonished to find a business this good, and I have never dealt with any of them before. This is how all companies should be run. Thank you all of you.

Not worth the grant

Government grant aside, which I am grateful for, the service has been terrible. Multiple snagging issues left which have dragged on for months with no resolution. Calls and emails are fobbed off with the response that they need to speak to Mark but no follow up call or email to offer any resolution to the multiple issues that you are left with other than to place the blame on the squad that attended for not getting back in touch with you. Initially, the whole schedule of work is not fully explained leaving issues on the day. Multiple return visits where little is done on the day and poor and careless workmanship is carried out. If I had known how much hassle this would have been I would not have bothered.

Another cowboy out fit to add to the…

Another cowboy out fit to add to the masses.

If I can help one person avoid these then its worth it.

Alarm bells should be ringing as the co-ordinator who started the works is no longer with the company 4 week after initial contact (if only i Knew).

4 weeks in my property not finishing a single room but starting something in everyone. My boy cut themselves on metal corner material left in their room. The workforce came the first week on mass the heating engineers were good apart from leaving the air source heating constantly in fault (non-operational).

Nearly two weeks to put down carpet protector all carpets laid back down minus the gripper which were binned.
All window boards ripped off and never replaced.

Plaster board not fitted to the celling, large holes. How are they going to plaster that? kicker being that it was their plaster who put the boards up, obviously knew he wasn't coming back.

My main door goes through my dinning room which is now missing floor boards and ones they did replace are no longer fixed. Great health and safety obstacle course for my 6yr, 8yr & 11yr, just get passed all the sharp material first.

My daughter has not been able to sleep in her room due to them using it as a material store. I have to sleep on the floor until i get this mess sorted.

Workforce would start between 09.30-10.30 and finish around 1430 Tuesday - Thursday after averaging hanging two standard plaster boards a day with an hours dinner. I would spend 2-3 hours a night cleaning trying to make space for my kids to go to sleep. The worker did say I can use their hoover instead of ruining mine (yyyyaaaa) as i constantly go through my house picking up empty energy drink in every room (it's hard work destroying a family home)

RIR, Loft and flat roof insulation

Absolutely amazing from start to finish!

MPC undertook the very difficult task of installing loft, flat roof & room-in-roof insulation to my property originally built in 1928. Mark initially surveyed and explained in great detail of what would be involved including timescales, what sort of upheaval to expect and a programme of works which would allow myself and my family live in the house whilst the works were ongoing. When the project started, it operated like a Swiss watch - the installers were onsite early in the morning, materials delivered and everyone involved knew what their role was. As ceilings were being pulled down and lathe and plaster stripped out, there was considerable mess, however at the end of each day every tradesman endeavoured to clean up as best as practically possible. All waste materials were removed at the end of every day which helped reduce stress levels. I cannot fault anyone involved in the project, Andy (joiner) was absolutely amazing - he was in constant dialogue with me whilst I was at work to explain issues they were uncovering (such as dry rot!) and discussed ways in how to address so that the job could move forward. Andy also worked later into the evenings to ensure the project would be complete within the timeframe initially advised. I was taken aback by the overall quality delivered, the plasterers work was flawless and you would not know there was plastering work being done, no mess whatsoever.

Overall, we are 100% satisfied and would definitely recommend this company to anyone - all staff members are an absolute credit to the company.
