A Very Poor Experience

As a Royal Navy veteran, this visit to London to attend the remembrance events on Saturday and Sunday was partly spoiled by a really poor experience at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse on Friday (after I was unable to book on Saturday for the supposed '5 course' deal with a Virgin Experience Voucher). The experience was actually awful and Virgin are also guilty of up-selling and representing a false view of many 5 star reviews on their own website.
Just don’t bother is my advice. The booking system is designed to force you into the the a la Carte menu as the 5 course voucher can’t book at the weekend until 48 hrs before. That severely limits the times available!! Although you can book an a la carte meal at any time. the restaurant was full and very noisy - more cafeteria than restaurant!!! It was so noisy I asked to move into the small section where we could hear each other rather than fight to talk over the excessive noise!!
Our waiter George was very pleasant. He took our order for the whole meal including the drinks. We asked for the cocktails included in the deal plus G&Ts with the 2nd/3rd course (which is actually just two canapés!!). Then we wanted a bottle of house red with the main course. the welcome cocktail didnt come straight away but at least we had a bottle of water to drink with the starter until both the cocktails and G&T arrived with the canapes!!
Our waiter was then moved away and a manager took over then it went really bad. We were brought a dessert before the main course then no wine arrived with the main course. The menu was also so limited that we couldn’t order any green veg like beans/ broccoli etc and any side costs £8.50!!
But the brandy snap dessert really did it because it was so hard it was impossible to eat and especially not with the spoon I was offered!! I refused to pay for that and when George came back he at least offered to remove the service charge. George was the only good thing about the whole experience!!

❤️ Our “forever” restaurant ❤️

To celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary, I booked afternoon tea for me and my wife at Marco Pierre White’s Plymouth restaurant. This was also where we chose to have our evening meal with our guests on our wedding day a year earlier too, post wedding ceremony. It seemed the only place for us to go and celebrate a year on, given that our experience previously was second to none.

The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is fantastic, the vibe is so relaxing and I would say cosmopolitan, all in all a very, very enjoyable and comfortable experience on both occasions. I have to add that the view from Plymouths restaurant is breath taking and that really does add to the experience.

Thank you and see you next year!!!

Not what you think !!

Went to the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Birmingham and booked a window seat.
The place was noisy with totally inappropriate music for such a place.
Napkins were dirty before we started
Service was slow
Asked for a desert menu, but it hadn't turned up after 15 mins, so it was go get through bill, pay and leave.
In a nutshell, Weatherspoons with a view.
And an expensive one at that.....

Gone down hill since I last ate there and won't again.

Food was okay small portions though.
Booked through red letter days, but when we tried to book they charged us a £20 booking fee if dining on a friday/saturday after 5.15 and booked more than 48 hours in advance!!!!!!!!! Unable to avoid it.
Tried to charge me a cover charge which is normally for olives, bread & butter etc. but we had none.
They made us wait 20 mins, yes we were early but plenty of tables available.
Wine options not very extensive and the cheapest was £40

Dissapointed disheartened and fed up

So arrived at the resturante and wow it was quite something for the places I've been to in Birmingham to dine out, so that was a good start.
This was a gift might I add (so glad I didnt have to pay ).
There are extra charges for everything even £5 to sit by the window bless them.
I had 6oz sirloin steak , o m g It was horrendous! If I say I managed to eat 2oz from it Im being generous. It was just FAT. Now let me tell you all something , im no idiot when it comes down to STEAK, I have mine from a very reputable butcher (Donald Russel) who have a royal Warrent of approval no less, so I know a little about steaks different cuts etc, and more to the point what it should taste like. I was totally discusted with the steak I also had to pay £7.50 for the privilege of nothing. It seems to me company's just serve you up CRAP quality meat and do not care. Not once were we asked if our meal was alright.
Campbells butchers supply Marco Pierre Whites in Birmingham sad that , I thought that quite possibly I may be enjoying the higher end quality lol.
If I were Marco I would seriously think on .
Im going to be 100 % honest I'm done eating out , I eat way better in my own flat .
I personally would not recommend eating the steak, any of them. This review it true and honest , I am a genuine person that works hard and is so fed up of being ripped off with food .

Title: Deeply Disappointing Wedding Experience – Poor Service, No Accountability

We held our wedding at Marco Pierre White Birmingham (Cube Hotel) in February 2025 and, sadly, it was one of the most disappointing service experiences we’ve ever had — both during the event and throughout the complaints process that followed.

Despite booking a premium venue with high expectations, the food was served cold and inconsistently, side dishes arrived late, and portion sizes were incredibly small. Tables were left dirty between and after courses, and desserts were served extremely late, cutting into our evening celebration. The room turnaround, which we were told would take 30 minutes, took over an hour, causing significant disruption to the flow of the event.

The table plan I carefully submitted was completely ignored. Two babies under the age of 1 were placed directly next to the DJ, despite specific instructions to seat them far away. One family left early due to the noise and cold, while the other spent most of the time at the opposite end of the venue or outside just to cope. This wasn’t a small oversight—it showed a lack of attention to detail and care.

The hotel stay added more issues. My parents were assigned an accessible room that they had not requested, and it was not clean. When they raised this at reception, they were dismissed with no follow-up. On top of that, multiple guests experienced delays with deposit refunds, which we had to chase ourselves.

What’s even more frustrating is how poorly this complaint has been handled. Despite multiple follow-ups, we’ve received vague responses, denials of issues that can be proven via photos and CCTV, and no acknowledgement of the impact this had on our big day. No gesture of goodwill, no apology, and no meaningful resolution. It’s been over six weeks and we are still chasing answers.

This was meant to be a special and joyful occasion, but the service failures and ongoing lack of accountability have left us feeling upset and disrespected. For such a well-known venue, the experience was far below expectations. I strongly advise others to think carefully before trusting this venue with any special occasion.

6 of us went to the Durham restaurant and absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, atmosphere lovely, all staff were amazing, especially kian. He truly went above and beyond and was so good it's made us start planning another visit. If you're thinking of heading to the Durham site you won't be disappointed! Highly recommended 😀

RIP OFF

My children bought me a virgin experience voucher for my 60th Birthday; Marco Pierre White Steak House Company, Middlesex Street and theatre tickets.

We arrived for the experience on 27th March 2025, quite excited and looking forward to a beautiful meal and the whole experience.

We arrived and went through the front doors, which is where front of house was situated, we were left queuing with another a couple, in the way of people entering the restaurant, having to move here and there to get out of the way, not once did the the person behind the desk looked at us, give us eye contact, nothing in the way of an apology ... I will be with you in a moment, I do apologise for your wait, thank you for your patience, absolutely nothing, like I have said, she did not even look at us, completely ignored us.

We were showed to our table, the tables were very close together and I had someone literally sitting right behind my right shoulder; it was very uncomfortable, it was quite dark where we were seated and we couldn't read the menu, the waiter proceeded to abruptly take the shade from the artificial candle and handled me the candle!!!

We made out choices from the menu and ordered two courses, with 2 extra sides of fries and mushrooms (£8.50 ea per extra side).

Our starters were brought to the table and I noticed I hadn't got a napkin; shouldn't someone have noticed that the table was set out properly. Our main meals arrived, we had to ask for our mushrooms, which had been ordered previously, they arrived a good 5 minutes later. Extra sides were quoted as being £8.50 each on the menu, on checking our bill after leaving the restaurant we noticed that they had charged us £12 for the fries, and they were awful. Our steak was very average, the peppercorn sauce; if you closed your eyes, you would not have guessed that that was what it was, no taste at all to be honest. We had 2 Irish coffees which were small and were £14 each.

We paid £3 for a cover charge and 9.5% service charge.

The meal was £55 (which was gifted; voucher) and we paid an extra £140 on the night.

VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTING, AND TO BE HONEST A RIP OFF

No working toilet, rude waiter. Don't go

No working toilet! Told 'go down the road near Franco Manco'. These things happen, fair enough BUT be up front about it. Would have had less water. Extremely rude waiter- totally unacceptable. Give this a miss until they sort out their toilets and staff. Definitely do NOT get a voucher through Buyagift.com. £20 booking fee, cover fee on top of voucher. A shame, because the food was good.

Afternoon tea at Marco's in Meriden…

My friend and I enjoyed afternoon tea on a Groupon at MPW Meriden, Solihull on 14/3/25. What a wonderful afternoon we had and a lovely dining experience. Great value on a Groupon and such a beautiful, comfortable restaurant. Our waitress, Jennifer, was first class. Such a credit to MPW, even telling us how amazing their Sunday roast is so we will be booking up for that! She could not do enough for us, to be honest, we have never been treated so well anywhere!! Her attention to detail was second to none. A couple of weeks ago I went to MPW in Birmingham for afternoon tea and there is absolutely no comparison. We were kept waiting ages for our table and in the end asked for it to be served where we were sat in the lounge area rather than the restaurant because they were still waiting for the table to clear! MPW Meriden is in a different league on every level, but the thing that really sets them apart is their wonderful service and surroundings. We will definitely return and cannot recommend them highly enough. Special thanks to Jennifer for making our experience so enjoyable, you really are Marco's jewel in the crown.

Very very disappointing we visited the…

Very very disappointing we visited the Plymouth restaurant today for a birthday celebration, firstly the gentleman who was there to check customers in said there was no record of our booking, I told him that I had an email confirming our booking and he asked to see it, in the meantime he found our booking but did not apologise for not finding it. We were shown to our table and Thomas said he would be looking after us and brought the menus, we didn’t want starters as we didn’t want to spoil our main courses so we ordered the mains which took an hour to arrive and that was after we asked the staff how much longer it would be (we had been told that we only had the table for a limited time) the steaks only come with 3 tiny vine tomatoes and a very small amount of chips so we ordered some sides which did not come with the mains but arrived about 20 minutes later after we reminded the staff about them, when the sides finally arrived the portions were very small (certainly not value for what was charged). The sirloin steak was exceptable unfortunately the two ribeye steaks were atrocious, the medium rare was so chewy it was inedible, the well done ribeye was like cutting into a piece of old leather, being very hungry having waited far too long for our meals l tried to eat the steak but gave up a third of the way through finding it impossible to eat! The first glass of Prosecco that we ordered was completely flat so we had to ask for a replacement. Being still hungry we would have liked to order desserts but the 3 choices on offer of cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding or ice cream wasn’t what we would expect from a quality restaurant so we decided against it. We honestly felt let down by the food and although the views are stunning we actually went for the food the views should have been a bonus! Thomas who looked after us was very apologetic about everything and seemed genuinely embarrassed and did get permission to get one of the steaks off the bill, we tipped him £10 for himself and hopefully he was able to keep it for himself!
We are truly disappointed in the quality of the food and wonder why the restaurant is charging such inflated prices for such bad quality food, especially the steaks, in our humble opinion the restaurant focuses on the cream teas side of the business far more than the normal lunch service!

This company should be ashamed of the selves. So many poor reviews.

My daughter who works very hard treated us for a buy a gift experience for Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Co London. We were charged a £20 table booking fee, then a £3.00 table cover charge, the a 9.5% service charge. We were happy to pay the service charge as the waiter was outstanding but this is a con and both them and Buyagift just don’t care. There is nothing in the t&cs about this

£20 vouchers for two…

Purchased the £20 vouchers for two course meal and a drink as a Christmas present for relatives. Small print stated use by end of March, cannot be used on a Saturday after 6pm and a few particular dates in February. Go to book and then it turns out that it varies depending on location (ours is Mon-Weds only)....this was not obvious when purchasing and very misleading. When queried was directed to a final bullet point on very small T's and C's! Would not buy again.

Voucher not worth the money, everything is at a supplement on top.

I was given a buyagift voucher for a 3 course meal with cocktails at Marco Pierre White.
Unfortuntately it feels a complete con!
You have to pay a £10 per head no refundable booking fee, most of the menu choices have a supplement to pay, and there are no sides included, all of these are at an additional cost.
Real shame, what should have been a lovely birthday present is actually a very expensive con for both the purchaser and recipient.
I'm not sure why these restaurants are offering these gift vouchers, all they do is leave you feeling somewhat disappointed.
