London steakhouse Liverpool Street

London steakhouse Liverpool Street. Used a voucher for a 3 course meal and cocktail. Vodka cocktail was tasteless. Had to pay an extra £2 for the prawn cocktail, which seems to be the policy to make you upgrade for nearly everything you want. You have to pay £6,50 extra for every side dish otherwise all you get is the steak. 5 onion rings over cooked, 3 croquet potatoes and less chips than you would get from McDonald's. Waiter who brought out the food forgot the chips, so they came out at the end of the meal, the same waiter gave me and my partner each others steak. My steak was supposed to be medium but came out rare and was so tough it was hard to cut, I would not return to this restaurant again. However the main waiter who served us I think his name was Darren could not do enough for us and was very apologetic.

FIRST VISIT TO MPW CARDIFF

Visited the Cardiff restaurant for the first time recently. First impressions were very good. The decor was tasteful but the whole place was very over-heated. The restaurant was quiet but this may be because it early evening. The staff were welcoming and the service was excellent. The food was good but not great - I was disappointed by my sirloin steak. However, the worse part of the meal was my dark chocolate mousse - it was served in a plastic glass! This is more suitable to McDonalds than fine dining.
I found it really strange that there are no toilet facilities on the same floor as the restaurant, you have to take the very slow lift to the floor below.

MPW Birmingham

MPW Birmingham - I will never set foot in this place again, and have never experienced anything like the service we had on Saturday Night. We had pre-paid and pre-ordered the food for a party of 11. Upon arrival at 8.30pm We where told our table wasn't ready and waited an hour to be seated. Then to be told that we would not get a starter for another hour, the only thing they could offer us was bread and we couldn't have a main meal as that wouldn't be ready till gone 12 and the kitchen staff where going home ! The restaurant was in complete chaos, nobody was getting food people walking out with no explanation as to what was going on, only to be told that it was no longer Marco PW and was bought out and was closing down. The restaurant was full and the kitchen staff turned of the light and walked out. What a terrible experience. You have been warned don't go near the place !

Marco Pierre White Restaurant

Marco Pierre White Restaurant? The Cube. So looking forward to an amazing experience with sky views of Birmingham city centre and to have a lovely relaxing afternoon tea... only to be let down by simply put the poor customer service and just unfriendly staff. Check your booking if you want to sit by a window they charge an extra £5 per person... then on top add an extra £5.90 they call it Discretionary service charge but your given no option to decline lol... There is a few things I can forgive but 1 hour and 20 minutes into our lunch while still eating, to then be asked to move to the bar area because they needed the table was a disgrace and so embarrassing! I've never had that before? our booking states 2 hours... we left, never again! you get better service in good old Nando's.

Avoid buying a Gift for Marco Pierre White

Avoid buying a Marco Pierre White EVoucher as a gift. Was charged £35 for the voucher but the gift was never received. No way if contacting them. It refers to contacting Customer Service but no contact details. Refers to clicking on a widget on bottom right of screen - no widget. Refers to quoting voucher reference - not easy when voucher never received! The reviews seem to suggest the experience is very poor anyway so perhaps not receiving this was a lucky escape.
Update: have managed to submit a message via online form today and received email stating it will take up to 72 Hours to respond.

Supercilious nonsense

Long wait for starters. Found piece of china in fishcake. Complete rubbish Supercilious nonsense. £100 for a mediocre dinner. Plenty of other places to eat in locality that believe in good food at realistic prices. This was Southampton grand harbour hotel

Don’t waste your time

Very disappointing afternoon tea experience at the Cube, Birmingham. Booking was for 1.45pm but did not get seated until 2.30pm. No explanation given. Table not set properly - no cups or teaspoons. Floor underneath table was dirty. Tables crammed together. Very noisy, uncomfortable and chaotic. Food was just edible as sandwiches did not seem freshly made. This should have been a special experience but felt very substandard.

Review left on feedback from restaurant but no response has been acknowledged or received.

Southampton site absolutely awful

Southampton site, avoid this farce at all costs. Awful stumbling service, mistake after mistake, slow and shaky throughout. The setting is like a school dinner hall or public swimming pool combined, just terrible atmosphere, bright crude lighting and white metalwork everywhere. Truly lousy evening. Food just very average. Can you believe a kitchen that doesn’t have balsamic?

Poorly Cooked Food

Visited Birmingham Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse and Grill today for lunch. Chips over-cooked, we asked for chips that weren’t over-cooked, we received more of the same. Ordered ‘medium’ steak, under-cooked, raw in nearly half of it. We paid nearly £100 for 2 x main meals and a medium size glass of wine each. Very poor, over priced, won’t be going back. It used to be really good food (last year) not now.

Wowcher deal Rudloe Arms

I purchased a Wowcher deal for our 7th wedding anniversary staying two nights at the Rudloe Arms near Bath with dinner and breakfast.
Our stay was awful, anyone thinking of staying here please spend your money elsewhere. I don’t normally write reviews or ever complain but the way we have been treated throughout our stay is unacceptable.
We arrived well after check in time (3pm) we actually got to hotel about 4:15pm.
We checked in at reception and we were asked what time we would like dinner and breakfast each day. We headed over to the room only to find that the room hadn’t been cleaned from the last people that were in there. Went to reception and explained that room hasn’t been cleaned, the gentleman advised us he will get the cleaners back to clean the room. We waited another hour only to find when we went back into room the only thing that had been done was bedding put on the bed and towels put in the bathroom. The room was coved in dust, bedding had stains over the covers and hair all over the bathroom floor. Not only that but found a used adult toy on top of the bedside table! So definitely hadn’t been cleaned like they said!!
When I told reception they said they would sort it out. I feel a full refund is definitely what should be done but they refused to do so. Being a well know chef you would think more attention to detail would be made but obviously not.
The Food was far from amazing just bog standard pub like food.
You have to pay extra for some dishes.
On the first day while waiting for room to be cleaned we got two drinks at the bar. I had a tonic water and my husband had a gin and tonic that came to £20.24 for two drinks!!

While we were staying there was another 5 complaints from others who were not happy with their stay.

Please think twice before booking save your money!

Don't bother!

Tired, we booked into our hotel Indigo in Durham. Decided to eat at the Marco Pierre White restaurant in house. I had the 'fish'cakes, more like potato cakes with a bit of fish and my husband had the pork escalop which was tough, dry ( no sauce) and bland. Wish we had ventured out to find somewhere to eat. I should know better than to trust these 'celebrity chefs' who franchise their name. Very disappointed.

SHAMBLES visited Birmingham restaurant…

SHAMBLES visited Birmingham restaurant on 11th August 2022 for Champagne afternoon tea.
Rude meet and greet lady kept us waiting over ten minutes to be seated.
Then waitress gave us wrong menu and had to wait a further 10 minutes to prove it was wrong.
Again waitress gave us prosecco and Not champagne and a further 15 minutes later another waitress realised mistake and brought champagne.
And then we had to wait nearly half an hour for hot water for the tea.
Service was AWFUL.
Not up to Marco standards .
We left SO disappointed and shall NOT recommend or return.

Average at best and disappointing at…

Average at best and disappointing at any price.

Visited Birmingham branch in the Cube.

Not all bad, it’s a great and iconic location with views over Birmingham and the steaks were great cuts of meat. But all let down by appalling service which was so slow despite the place being virtually empty, overall food was below average and well below what I’m sure the namesake would expect.

Staff seemed disinterested, there were several around chatting and we felt like an inconvenience to the front of house. After being seated it took 20 minutes to take an order for even drinks. We ordered food at the same time which took 40 minutes to arrive. Not great at any time but the place was almost empty.

The steaks themselves were good cuts, but along with sauce and spinach were lukewarm with soggy soda bread which I think it was sat waiting to be served too long.

It expensive but you’re paying for the name and the location nothing more. £275 for 4 mains and a bottle of wine plus a few a drinks, not helped by adding £20 to sit near a window even though it was nearly empty. If good food and service is more important, then there are better options at less than half the price.

I’d suggest a candidate for kitchen nightmares, we won’t be back.

Absolutely disgusting

Absolutely disgusting. Been a regular customer at the London branch. Visited this branch for my partner's birthday on jubilee weekend. Was told 45 mins prior to our booking that the gas is not working. We had no other option to go there as other restaurants were fully booked due to jubilee weekend. What annoyed us even more was the waiter openly told us they had issues with their gas since morning. So not too sure why we got such a late notice. We had a mixed variety of dietary requirements which left our options even more limited. The poor woman who greeted us looked like she hated her job. The arrival of the food was the worst part. Pretty sure the shepherds pies was an Asda special ready meal just mircrowaved. Bland was an understatement. They couldn't even get the apple crumble right. Aunt Bessie would have sufficed. Proceeded to make a complaint and got ignored on social media. Finally was able to reach some and it was escalated to the branch manager I believe. Who would happily ignore your complaint and prays all problems will go away. No adequate resolution had been provided just a email saying this case is closed and I've opened the case up too late which is complete lies. In my opinion they shouldn't have opened that day if they couldn't deliver. For a company who makes a lot of money they need to be more aware of customer service and resolution. Never ever would I visit this branch again

David Bailey Meets Robert 'Mousey' Thompson Meets Andy Warhol

If you want to stay somewhere different from the vanilla hotels that are two-a-penny, we highly recommend the Rudloe Arms Hotel.
We enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay. The staff were tremendous, particularly Jack, Josh and Kirsty. Absolutley spotless rooms (we were upgraded for one night to a room in the main house - TY Mr White). Excellent food and the eclectic art collection has to be seen.
We will definitely return.

Booking was a fiasco .

Booking was a fiasco .
I called and left a voicemail for a call back .
No one called .
I called the next day and spoke to Claire who took my booking and said she would email me a link to make a card payment to reserve the table .
No email materialised , so I called again the next day and doke to Claire who advised she had left the email to someone else , and as it was not sent my booking was cancelled .
She took my details again , I asked could I just register my card details over the phone .
Claire said no , she'd send me an email . Once I had filled on my card details I would need to call her back to make sure the booking was confirmed .
Which I duly did , my 4th phone call to book a table for lunch !
Then I had an email saying I needed to click on it to confirm my booking , having already been told by Claire that it was confirmed ...
On arrival we were shown to our table and given a menu .
Claire came and said we were on the system as a Wowcher booking .
At no time did we say we were dining with Wowcher ???
She took the menus she had given us and brought the a la carts menus instead .
We ordered the pork escalope .
It arrived with a side of peas that we ordered but no spoon to serve them .
My friends pork was pink , bloody and uncooked .
We called the waitress who to be fair apologised after took it back to the Chef .
We were given a glass of Prosecco each as a courtesy ,nice touch .
Then the waitress came back and said the pork wasn't undercooked , they had served my friend the gammon by mistake !!
There was no gammon on the menu and wouldn't have been served in a batter.
By now I was looking for Basil Fawlty !
After lunch we waited patiently for over half an hour to catch someone's eye for the bill , and a further 25mins by which time we got up and went to the bar to pay .
The restaurant was over half empty so they weren't busy .
Maybe having an'off day '.
I have eaten there before and the food and service have been very good but it has gone dramatically down hill .
Avoid
