After some initial hiccups with our previous solicitor, we had the pleasure of working with Gayle Hough on what turned out to be a long and sometimes complex sale and purchase. Throughout the process she remained calm, professional and incredibly patient, even when matters became challenging. We always felt she was steady, responsive and quietly working hard behind the scenes to get us to the finish line. We’re very grateful for her persistence and support and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. 10/10

The solicitor handling my conveyance worked very hard to complete the purchase. The purchase was made more difficult due to an overseas seller and their solicitor never having dealt with a complicated lease structure. Our solicitor kept us updated throughout and explained everything clearly to us. She was also very approachable and i have recommended her a few times since.

I was the Executor of my brother’s estate and received probate, which was subsequently challenged by one of the estate beneficiaries who issued proceedings against me. I contacted Caroline Chamberlain at MSB in early January 2025. From the first contact Caroline put me at ease. Her professionalism and expertise stood out in those early conversations and throughout the process. During the engagement Caroline and her team were thorough in the advice and guidance they provided and were timely in all their communications with me. MSB provided me with a first class service from first contact to subsequent closing of the case at the end of 2025. I am a retired Audit Executive so I was comfortable around lawyers but this was the first time I had been faced with legal proceedings being served on me. MSB are not only a highly professional legal service, which is to be expected but they also care about their clients, which is to be applauded.

The job was done efficiently and on time. Some communication problems but probably my fault as I live in a remote location with poor mobile coverage.

Extremely slow service trying to buy a property.
Extreme internal miscommunication.
My case was passed from person to person.
Replying emails it could take several weeks and sometimes it was not even the person you were dealing in the first place.
I went to their office to sign some paperwork, it got mistaken 6 times in the space of one hour and I ended up having to come back different time as it was impossible to get it sorted on the spot.
Complaint multiple times about slow and poor service, did not change though.
In case of a future property I will never request their services again.
Jo was the only capable and actually proactive person in that firm. I will always be thankful to her for trying helping in the process.
Highly not recommended.

It was a very stressful time for two over 70s. But Helen and Gayle were always helpful even when a melt down from me could happen. They covered all the difficulties of buying and selling with a fine tooth comb. So thank you all. Kind regards, Ann and John Currie

I’ve used MSB before and will do so again. They’re always personable and easy to speak to, nothing like the typical conveyancing firms that rely on email-only replies. Despite some issues with my buyer, Molly kept me informed throughout and remained professional and patient the whole way. Highly recommend.

BEWARE - Do not deserve even 1 star!

MSB Are the solicitors that our commercial mortgage company are using but we are paying MSB’s bill.

Our experience of MSB so far:
Long story short:
Completion date has fallen through approx 5 times - it seems clear that it’s MSB’s fault.
Delay is so long we may lose our commercial mortgage or the commercial property we are buying or both - seems clear it is MSB’s fault.

From the outset MSB Left our case with a trainee and when we complained they still did not get one of their solicitors involved but instead an associate/legal executive.

Our solicitors are astonished at what is going on and so are we!

Despite numerous complaints up the chain we have been ignored!

We believe that we have been misled by them numerous times! They even tried to lie to us saying we had no right to complain as not the client yet we do have a legal right as the payee.

ȚO BE FRANK Our mortgage company should not have them as one of the solicitors to “choose from” as they clearly are not up to the job!

As pointed out to MSB and the mortgage company, this has caused us a lot of stress, time and financial losses and could jeopardise our current business which operates within the building that we are attempting to purchase: They appear not to care at all! Communication is very lacking!

UPDATE: you will see from their response below that they are in denial that WE CAN complain as we are the consumer as in we are paying their bills! THIS IS OUR LEGAL RIGHT!
And our solicitor has complained numerous times to no avail!!!
