the rules are s##t
its fine and all, but one day it was lagging really bad, it wasent me, i only had like 2 other tabs open so i decided to click download 4 more times, only 4 and then it banned me for a week from being on the site, and it was a ip ban, so i was like "oh thats alot for nothing, especially for a first offender, im gonna read the rules of the site" and i see the most lucritivly long bans for nothing you spammed? BAM ban for 60 days, you share your account, BOOM permenant ban, now i am thinking the site is trash, too bad i cant get mugen characters anywhere else
Soooooo I can deal with the weekend…
Soooooo I can deal with the weekend thing and the bandwidth limit thing BUT what I will NOT deal with is that because of school and just picking up on different hobbies over time, I stepped away from the Mugen making business for a good 3 years. And I go back and download Hyper DBZ for old times sake, then decided "Ya know what, Imma go and make a little mugen, just cuz". Log into Mugen Archive and get slapped in the face with a message saying that because I haven't been active at all now I can't do anything, because I went and did other things.
Good Job Mugen Archive, never using this s**t again

The mods are absolutely delusional
The mods are absolutely delusional. Perma ban for making a light hearted joke. Funny enough the joke was me saying"all this power is getting to mods heads :D" when they disabled access for "lurkers" aka people who download stuff for their mugens.
A bunch of hypocrites.
Now I see I'm not the only one that's had problems here. I've been playing along with mugen since the early 2000s. I never got really heavily into editing or anything, just have a rotating roster of characters and have for a long, long time. Anyway, I decided to go through and up a bunch of characters with new versions and got banned from MugenArchive, I think...for downloading? I've been on the forums, I say thanks, I don't complain about weekends, just a low level user.
Here's the thing - Some of these guys, some, complain and complain about how everyone is a leech and just sucks off their servers. But when you start poking around and actually reading, half the time the work they're hosting, meaning the work they're making money, isn't from them. If it doesn't expressively say don't upload it, they upload it, profitize it, make money off it, then complain about all the leeches who don't put in the work, over and over, day in and day out.
It'd be cute if they weren't sitting on a treasure trove of other peoples hard work.
Great site and concept, absolutely terrible mods
Oh my God. Aight, so Mugenarchive is a great and convenient way to download anything related to mugen. But the mods? Dizzy? She acts like a evil queen. "Lurkers" a.k.a. people who really just use the site to download stuff for their mugens, are peasants in her eyes. Scum. The dogcrap at the bottom of your shoes. If she doesn't benefit from your existence, you don't deserve to access anything. What's that? You have a complaint? Too bad, get permabanned. It's a frickin' echo chamber. If you don't participate in forums and crap, you don't deserve to use the site. You're a leech in her eyes. Someone needs to bring the site down. Someone needs to bring her down.
Sorry, Dizzy, It's All Screencapped
Imagine the intersection of 2D fighting games and North Korea and you've got Mugen Archive. It's a warehouse of content for a fighting game engine called MUGEN run by a person who does his job very very poorly, bans anyone who criticizes him, and tries as hard as he can to shut down any and all criticism of himself and/or his website (as evidenced by the 44 reviews this website used to have here, until Dizzy begged Trustpilot to make all the negative publicity go away).
BTW, Dizzy, since I know you'll read this: maybe if you spent more time trying to improve Mugen Archive and less time trying to silence all criticism, maybe your website wouldn't have as bad reputation as it does.
Absolute trash
Absolute trash, if you say even one remotely negative thing about anything regarding the website, they ban you PERMANENTLY, They make you wait months just to get approved to even use the website in the firstplace, then they force you to post stuff you dont want to post in places you dont want to be for a week just to download anything over 10 mb, I have genuinely never seen a worse website in my entire life.
Mugenarchive's good and bad sides.
Mugenarchive's pros are many, and there are few cons, but the cons are heavy.
I got banned, and needed to look at reviews for this to see if I was alone, and I wasn't. Needed to post mine along with.
Starting off with the pros, Mugenarchive is:
1. One of the more categorized MUGEN sites. As a file repository, it has a bunch of categorization.
2. Good place to download stages and characters as it most likely has what you're looking for with the amount.
3. Just making an account gives you access to a #### ton of files each day, to truly make your dream game.
4. There are previews of the files you're getting, so you know what to expect in appearance. This is much more useful with stages.
Mugenarchive's cons..
1. Dizzy's "community weekends".
It's nothing more than just sadistic action for pleasure. If you're titled under "lurker", which most people are, you are restricted from downloading and uploading.
2. Banned for a bit of criticism.
As far as I know, when I posted some criticism on the Community Weekends event, I was IP banned. Didn't find out until later.
tl;dr
Amazing site, horrible owner. Just be a lurker and download, don't do anything else. When the community weekends are active, just do something else with your time.
This site bans anyone who critisizes…
This site bans anyone who critisizes anything, and it also punishes people for having a life.
Bans even "PAYING" members, watch out
I'm one of the few people who simply pays to download what they want from the service with no restrictions, and I have done this before and it worked really well, was honestly worth it.
However only a few days after my 2nd subscription I found myself IP banned. Wow, just wow, I knew the archive was extremely scummy but Dizzy couldn't have even waited til my subscription ended?
IP Banning a PAYING client. Unbelievable, I have already taken this to Paypal, this site has gone from scummy to straight up fraud.
Your in dangerous waters now Dizzy, watch your move.
PS: Don't be fooled, this isn't a "donation", it is a legit merchant purchase through Paypal.
Trust Pilot doesn't allow links here, but I'll gladly prove myself if asked.
10+ year Mugen vet dealing with INSANE mod named Dizzy. Ban his b*tch ass
I've been part of Mugen community since 2008, and I am a creator as well. There is this piece of trash named Dizzy that is a psychopath that runs the site, which i knew nothing of him until I conversated with him myself. So long story short here's what happened.. I saw in the comments that he was trying to convince someone that they shouldn't respect the creators blah blah blah, and I intruded and said that I been part of mugen for over 10 years and this community is all about respect and speaking with one another and respecting people's work. and Dizzy straight up responded "I'm tired of all that respect crap, it doesn't work blah blah blah" and then I said.. If you don't like respect in a community, then you can get out of this community. and then I found myself banned. and then i found out that Dizzy, the person who was literally telling someone to not respect creators and their creations, is the one that now has control of the site. and then i research him to see that he has been ruining this community of free gaming for a while. Sometimes I wonder who he really is and if he's some corporate tool that is there to turn people away from mugen(which is awesome and can actually create a legit game and its all free). I've also heard that he is randomly banning many of the best long time creators.. for no reason of coarse.
DOWN WITH THE ARCHIVE!
Shut down this site now! they banned me forever for no reason! ive downloaded everything i liked from this site for years. but today when i went to download something, this happened,Banned for no reason and Ban Lift: Never. Why did they did this to me? I Want Revenge! I Hope they also Shut Down This Site Forever!!! shut down Dizzy too!
This is extremely frustrating
Very bad.. They put the IP issue.. I've been a member of MugenArchieve and now for some reason I cannot open the website now on any IP.. How am I supposed to contribute when they don't let me in 😡😡😡😡
THE MUGEN ARCHIVE's site is worst

I have never been active in the community, only ever used to to download and I tried to log on only to find out I've been Banned?
they ban anyone who doesnt agree
they ban anyone who doesn't agree with anything a mod says. even on reddit they dont allow you to suggest alternatives when their spaghetti code site goes down for a whole day.
Good Site, Toxic Owner
The idea for the Mugen Archive is a great one. It's a 'warehouse', a place where all Mugen content is archived, and since a LOT of creator websites have gone down over the years, the concept is not even just good but is downright necessary.
Unfortunately, the owner Dizzy is toxic and deeply mentally ill. He's what psychs call 'malignant paranoid', being completely convinced the rest of the Mugen community is out to get him while ironically being completely out to get the rest of the Mugen community. He has a really weird sense of humor (likened other site owners to Nazis during one holiday) and a sadistic side that likes to torment users of his own site in particular (forces a concept called 'Community Weekend' that is clearly just to mess with MA users, since it doesn't do and never has done what he says it's for). In short, Dizzy is the last person who should ever have power over anything. Unfortunately, he's the person who pays for the site (and is constantly pandering for other users to foot that bill in his place), plus the other site founders like That Man and Sol Badguy have all retired over the years leaving Dizzy in sole control.
If you want a Mugen character, you'll probably have to deal with the Archive, so here's what you do. Make a burner email with Yahoo or preferably Gmail (Dizzy is a Google acolyte, of course). Sign up with that and a fake name with as little identifying info as possible. When the account is approved, use it only to download characters, and only on the weekdays. Avoid the site during the weekends, and avoid the forums completely unless you want your account to get banned by the one-person gestapo that is Dizzy. Make a few posts on uploads if you want a 50 MB+ sized file, and never mention Dizzy's name at all, since he searches it obsessively every hour of every day. And finally, never use the site without some kind of Adblock, since Dizzy is constantly experimenting with ways to harvest user/visitor data and sell it for his own gain.
This is how you can use the Archives safely, without encountering its mentally ill owner.
