Used Apsley mulch on our borders and veggie beds for the last 3 years. If its fresh out the biodigesters it can be warm and smell of ammonia, but we nearly always end up leaving it in the bags for a few weeks before we get round to using it. Great weed supressor and slowly gets broken down into the soil over the season, with good veggie and borders results for us. Worst thing is that the blackbirds love foraging in it and throw it over the paving!
Delivery service is always fab but we're just down the road from them, so usually really quick for us. 3 bags on the drive now, waiting for us to get round to spreading.

We live on a hill so deliveries can be challenging, Neil delivered two bags from the crane easily. Also great quality mulch for a good price!
Will be ordering again next year!

2 bulk bags of Mulch were ordered at a good price and reliably delivered, all good. However, the mulch itself, despite being a nice broken down texture (I suspect having been through a shredder) is unusable. It is HEAVILY ammonia, not with a nice composted smell, but with an incredibly strong and sharp ammonia smell. I was wary of this and asked a few experienced gardeners who took one whiff and said they wouldn’t touch it. It has clearly been very anaerobic. Appsley Farms told me that it was fine to use and the ammonia would evaporate after 24hrs (although I might want to mulch too closely around plants!). But academic articles told me otherwise and warned of ammonia affecting soil for years. Appsley wouldn’t take the mulch back without a delivery charge so I now have a pile of mulch on my drive which I have mixed a bale of wood shavings and a bale of shredded straw into in order to try and balance out the carbon in there slightly and get some aerobic process going.

I like this mulch. It's a good product and good quality. But the website and ordering process is diabolically awful. Payment just never works, even with adblockers etc turned off - mobile or desktop - and every time it fails you have to fill some of the information in again. I feel like I'm done trying. Maybe next year it will work!

Despite multiple problems accessing our allotments the staff at Apsley have been consistently cheerful and helpful. I cant praise them enough. The product is also excellent and has transformed a section of my claggy clay allotment soil.

Yesterday I received a huge bag of summer mulch. Neil, the driver, somehow managed to find a way into our drive which was nearly blocked by parked cars.
Bag left in exactly the place we had asked for.
Thank you.
Now looking forwards to giving my plants a treat.

2 huge bags of Soil Improver/mulch was safely delivered by a really professional guy who reversed into our drive in rush hour from a busy country lane and manoeuvred into quite a tight space and placed the 2 bags exactly where I wanted them. I have started to mulch all my beds and have to say we are delighted with the quality of the mulch and ease of use. Really impressed thank you!

What a lovely shopping experience!
Cannot recommend Apsely enough - I ordered bark chips for my pathways online. Not only were their prices the best I found, but delivery was free and communication was excellent throughout. I received both emails and phone calls to let me know when I could expect delivery, and had a message from the driver. I could also select an exact pinpoint on Google maps where I wanted by bags left. Apsely have thought of everything! I wasn't around when delivery was made, but the driver left the bags beautifully lined up in the space I marked on the map. Plus delivery was within 3 days of placing my order, despite the confirmation email advising within 10 days. I will be ordering all my bulk garden supplies from Apsley from now on!

Lynsey has just delivered my mulch. I can only say I’m absolutely thrilled. My drive is very tight and she manoeuvred the truck in with skill and precision. She placed the mulch exactly where I needed it. Apsley farms use what 3 words and a location pin so they come straight to the door. I’m so impressed. I will be ordering top soil in the future. Initially saw an advertisement in the RHS members magazine, did my research, things were looking brilliant, especially when I started filling on the form, each bag £60 or 2 or more bags £50 each. Placed my order, the delivery charge for the two bags was £80. On top of the £100. Not so good.

I ordered a bag of mulch at 5pm on a Friday and it was delivered Monday morning. I received a text from the driver Lindsey advising that she would be arriving within 15 minutes, she carefully positioned the bag in exactly the correct place as per my order.
The product looks very clean and tidy.

David L our delivery driver was very helpful & left the bag of mulch in exactly the right position, leaving us space to get into the garage. He also gave me some very useful advice on using the mulch. Much appreciated.

This company are so easy to deal with. They are so polite and give courtesy calls just to check they are placing their product in the right place, excellent esp as we have to park our car on a certain place on the drive to charge it. they are super fast with delivery and the product was fantastic. I was reccomended by my neighbour, won't be using anyone else from now on and it helps keep local business going. Thanks so much...Jen.

The service provided by the team and mulch/ soil conditioner product are both excellent. We have recommended the mulch to many of our customers for use on their borders and we regularly use the soil conditioner when seeding - it is a fantastic product

Ordered two bags of mulch for our garden and two for the allotment, delivered on time, friendly and helpful delivery driver. Placed exactly where we wanted it. A phone call the day before delivery from Apsley notifying us of delivery time was a huge help. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great personal service,delivery arrangements adhered to and driver actually asked where I wanted the bulk bags! On top of that, the products really work and what’s more slugs don’t seem to enjoy crawling on the surface created and annual weeds are easy to extract. Highly recommend the soil improver, which I’ve used on my raised fruit and veg beds and the liquid feed I used on potted patio size fruit trees and bushes and generally around the garden.

We are a small allotment site and have had a number of deliveries this year. Access has not always been easy due to major road reconstruction - we are also weather dependent as entrance and main central path is grass and can become very boggy but customer service and delivery drivers have been exceptional -just like the quality of the mulch. Produce grown with mulch is substantially bigger than without.
