The main selling point is that it's free but the interface is also extremely clean and user-friendly and I love that Musecore is constantly getting updated. The large library of sounds and features are ever expanding.

I took a premium subscription and still can't even look an Official score. Everything is unclear. I tried to take the PDF to midi and to note subscription for my wife who teaches voice, after the trial period I couldn't even pay, Pay Pal , Google , Master Card...nothing. When I wrote to MS I got an AI Alixa reply saying that the problem was with my Credit card but I've been a member for 8 years.
Really Muse Score your really starting to S--k

DO NOT buy from this company as they will deceptively sign you into a subscription and take money from your account. Even paypal back them up. You probably won’t even notice the email. I cancelled it straight away but they still took it. Wished I had read reviews earlier. YOU have been Warned

I attempted to purchase a single score but was charged for that as well as a $69.99 initial subscription fee for MuseScore Pro+. I did not knowingly purchase this service, nor have I used it. Within 48 hours of the charge appearing on my bank statement, I requested a refund via email (the only means of contacting the company). The initial response was immediate, but seemingly automated. I responded immediately and have yet to hear back. In my view, this company is, at minimum, negligent, and their practices are seemingly fraudulent. If I do not hear back soon with a resolution I'll be contacting the attorney general.

Purchased one score and wa singled up to a subscription, despite very carefully checking that I wasn’t.
The standard message they send contains incorrect instructions and it is impossible to get support or information.
Avoid Musicscore.

Amazing platform, great service, worthwhile subscriptions that actually deliver, and a great community.

Scam! They enrolled me in an auto-subscription I did not authorize!

Buyer beware. My post is just of many informing potential buyers of fraudulent billing practices by Musescore. I tried to create an account with Musescore, only to be logged out, followed by at least 7 attempts on my part to log back in with password resets. None worked and I was not able to log back in at all. Regardless, I was charged for two services of which I did not sign up for. I'm currently trying to get a refund via PayPal. It is slow going and if course the option for refunds are not offered from Musescore. No other responses given. Please do not waste your money or time. **Regarding the reply to my post. I will be handling it via PayPal to ensure my refund. I have the emails to prove what the system (your scam practices) did at that time. And for those of you reading this post, please do save all documentation. Take screen shots.

This is the second attempt to give this company some business and both times it ended as a nightmare. They purposely tangle you in their web of lies and doubletalk crap. They should be removed from the internet and face the MUSIC..A GIANT FINE FROM THE FCC.DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE.

This is a complete scam. I wanted to buy a score sheet. It says clearly "no obligations", but when you pay, you are automatically enrolled into a pro membership, whichs costs a lot. I deleted the payment for the membership in Paypal and stopped the subscription in Musescore, which was very complicated ("Dark patterns"). After that, I could no longer download the sheet I had paid for separately. This is a fraud, it's clearly a case for the police and EU consumer rights authorities.

A scam in the truest sense of the word. I clicked to purchase a £1 score, and discovered by email I’d purchased a £60, 3 month subscription. Absolutely disgusting

I purchased a piece of sheet music from MuseScore and discovered an additional $44.95 unauthorized charge. It is very difficult to deal with their chat system.

It is really a pity. They had a good piece of music that I wanted, so I bought this. However, I ended up with a premium subscription I did not sign up for, or that was very unclear. It was at least not mentioned during buying clearly nor mentioned in the email with the score and receipt. I now payed for something I am not using. A refund has not been given yet, seems difficult.

I was shocked to discover that my account had been charged for a MuseScore Premium subscription for several months without my knowledge. I only intended to purchase a single score (0,99€) for my mother in September and never knowingly signed up for a recurring subscription.
The purchase and subscription process on their website was very misleading. I wasn’t aware that a premium membership had been activated or that recurring charges would occur. I only realized something was wrong when I received a notification about a failed credit card charge.
I also came across post where other users reported being unknowingly enrolled in subscriptions. Maybe possible bug or misleading behavior. The window where this choice and the conditions are displayed only appears for a fraction of a second and flashes too briefly to be read. I suspect the same happened to me.
I can only imagine how confusing and misleading this must be for non-English speakers (English is also not my native language), older users, or anyone less experienced with online purchases. This makes the lack of clear communication even more concerning.
This experience has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I hope MuseScore improves transparency and handles refunds fairly for users in situations like mine.
EDIT:
The response I received is generic, automated reply and completely ignores the real issue. The problem is not whether the subscription exists in your system, but that your website’s purchase flow clearly misleads customers into unknowingly activating a recurring subscription. Your business is a SCAM
Since this has not been properly addressed, I will now proceed with a chargeback through my payment provider and escalate this matter to the relevant consumer protection authorities. I have filed police charges. I advice everyone to avoid this company at all costs.

Musescore is a snake, trying to get your money any way it can thru deception, confusion, lies, promises, and one-time courtesy extensions that never happen. Trying to simply get a trial before committing to a subscription? Forget it, their website is not set up to easily navigate for the trial you thought you were interested in. By default you will be signed up for auto payments for auto renewals. If at any point they offer you a one-time courtesy for anything it will disappear into the chaos called their website. On your profile pages you might see “inactive” or “activate” or “restore” and be mislead into signing up and paying again. Their membership tiers are unfathomably all twisted up, you need Einstein to figure out the differences between them. They purposefully make their website extremely confusing, don’t fall into all the traps laid on every page. Don’t use Paypal to pay them anything (Paypal ALWAYS sides with merchant)! Use a reliable customer-first VISA for example that will more than likely side with you instead of Musescore!
They might even email you and distract you and you’ll think they are so nice, but they will ghost you as soon as they get more money from you. Your billing history will list more than you thought and totally confuse you. All their web pages will be confusing because they’re loaded up with various ways to get you to pay more. Musescore is a fraud! They rip people off and then make it impossible to figure out what happened or get a refund.
Take screenshots of every single page you encounter if signing up for anything and then take screenshots again when your account changes or when they offer you anything and then more screenshots because they change what they sell you, what they tell you, and when you didn’t get what they said you’d get.
There are so many other really worthy music sites, don’t fall for this one!

I purchased one sheet music file (which was also an incomplete version of the piece of music) and was automatically signed up to a subscription. I received a receipt for the purchase of the piece, but no communication confirming any subscription. I didn't sign up or consent to any "free trial", so my information and payments have been used fraudulently. This is absolutely unacceptable.

If I could give MuseScore zero stars I would. I purchased one piece of music in December 2025 and now I have been charged $59.99 for a subscription that I do not want as my ability to navigate the website is far above my musical needs. Furthermore, there is no way to cancel the subscription on their website. I've been gettng the runaround with a bot for more than an hour. Very frustrating!!

Scam artists. Even when I payed for a single track, they still hoodwinked me into a trial that’d start billing monthly after a few weeks.
Luckily saw it straight away and cancelled.
Avoid.

I have used MuseScore for years, both as a singer, guitarist, and now a comeback trumpet player. I can find the score I'm looking for at price that works for me. And, most importantly, if I make a mistake MuseScore helps me solve it, get the music I needed, and at no additional cost. George is responsive and supportive. Many kudos for this site.
