Music Aptitude UK helps families prepare for school Music Aptitude Tests with listening practice and individual guidance. Established in 2013, our resources cover pitch, rhythm, melody and texture — the listening areas used in many MAT formats. Families can start with a free mini test, then choose from online practice memberships, downloadable practice papers with audio, and a structured training course. For pupils who need focused help, we offer one-to-one MAT booster lessons to work through particular question types and build confidence. Lessons are available online, and face-to-face tuition at our home studio can be arranged for local pupils. We aim to make an unfamiliar test easier to understand and preparation more manageable. The right route depends on the pupil's needs and the school's test format. Our teaching and resources support preparation; they do not guarantee a test result or school place.

Absolute game changer for my son's music exams

We had a fantastic experience working with Ben to prepare my son for his secondary school music aptitude exams. Ben is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and easily approachable. My son absolutely loved his lessons and always looked forward to the next one.

My son is on the autism spectrum and can sometimes become easily distracted, but Ben’s approach was absolutely excellent. He tailored his teaching to help my son focus, sharing brilliant tactics and practical tricks to navigate the exam environment.

Crucially, he also taught him how to cope with the pressure and anxiety of a music exam.

Ben always went the extra mile to support us. Thanks to his dedication, my son did incredibly welL, Securing a music scholarship at one school and being offered a place at the other!

I highly recommend Ben to any parent looking for a patient, skilled, and truly supportive music teacher.
