I ordered 2 bodhráns and they were dispatched the following day. They arrived separately, but that was not Muzikkon's fault. I wasn't worried because I could follow both packages online and knew when... See more

Lute arrived in one piece, great packaging, arrived MUCH faster than anticipated (expected 2 weeks, arrived in five days).
Beautiful well-made instrument. Fast shipping and well-padded package.
Muzikkon made online ordering easy, and when there was an unexpected delay from a string manufacturer they provided prompt shipping to makeup for lost time

Everything seemed to go smoothly. Tiny criticisms are delayed despatch and too little communication. Honestly though, everything was good, item exactly as claimed. I would buy again.

When you buy a Rebec from Muzikkon. Their Muzikkon Guarantee™ guarantees that it is only suitable as a wall hanger. For one, it falsely advertises that the instrument is strung with gut strings when it is strung with cheap fishing line instead. The bow is also strung with nylon 'horsehair' and made permanent with epoxy. And it is shipped tensioned with the 'hair' glued to the clip-in frog, showing just how knowledgeable Muzikkon's luthiers are.
The entire instrument is filled with splinters and unfinished burrs. Every hole and slot is filled with string slicing burrs. I strung real gut strings on it, and the burrs on the bridge slots ate them almost immediately. I even got a complimentary splinter prick from running my finger over the bridge once in disbelief. The bridge feet itself isn't flat with the body as well, causing the bridge to fall forward on every tuning, and SLAM into the soundboard if you do not readjust the bridge multiple times in a row each time you string up a string, and at least once each time you do a regular tuning.
None of the pegs and holes are round, making tuning very difficult. To the point that one of the pegs is visibly leaning to one side, at about the same angle as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The tailpiece holes are not drilled evenly, and are all over the place, the splinters where the tailgut is threaded through was already cutting into the tailgut, and I had to salvage it by deburring everything with leather and even fine grain sandpaper at tines. The tailgut still has some considerable fraying to it, and it would've turned the tailpiece into a catapult had I not intervened.
The body's soundboard has a nasty knot in the wood, were this a violin of half the price, that wood would've been rejected even before someone spent time carving it. I believe that the horrible wolf at E-F-F#-G may have been partially a result of that knot, as well as any other combination of factors.
When I brought it to the lutheir, he couldn't really do anything about it. I'll in the very least need to source brand new pegs of the size for the instrument as well as a new bridge in that strange design for him to be able to try to fix this. He was definitely not happy when the instrument became a turkey at F#, it made the convincing sound of a turkey when he bowed it with an early baroque bow of his own.
The bridge snapped in half a week later, and the fishing line knot got stuck in the tailpiece hole, so I can't even play it at all now, flawed as it was.
With the Muzikkon Guarantee™ proudly advertised on their purchase page, this feels more like a personal insult than anything.
Reply: If I am able to send pictures, I'll gladly already do it. My order number is #1004619, I PAID for my product and got myself an insult. If you truly guaranteed setup in Dublin as you have claimed, this should not have happened. You are not a drop shipper. Please request a review on trustpilot and I'll gladly make this an official review.
You are also not more affordable (about $100 more expensive) then others selling the same exact model of instrument.
I have written you an email to confirm that I indeed have written my review on TrustPilot. Your reply to this review is very inciting. I'm not a rival luthier, why would I spend $600 on you just to give you a negative review? That's such an expensive endeavor for what is a generic instrument that you didn't setup in anyway (that I paid extra for that guarantee) like you had advertised.
I had a much more refined experience when buying an Enya Ukulele, which was refined and constructed much better. And it only costed me $96, compared to this $600 hell of an experience that is now permanently in storage.
Also, why wasn't I consulted as an existing customer as well? I was pretty sure that you had very limited stock on the Alto Rebec, since my sole purchase had simultaneously resulted in it being out of stock, and a raising of prices after (which it isn't even worth half of want I paid for it, mind). I would've been one of your only purchases for that model specifically.
I have also noticed that you did not reply up till 30 days have passed, guaranteeing that your "30 day back guarantee" would lapse before addressing this review. You sure do stand behind your products, bravo I say, brovo.
Were the instrument one with just some issues (or shipping damage), I would've contacted you. But with how bad of a state the instrumentis in, I truly believe that you'll not do right by me, you do not seem to have the integrity to do so if you would even send the Rebec in such a state, together with the false advertising as well with the gut strings. I do not wish to figure out how to deal with a return process all the way from Singapore just to have you reject it like that other review, after all. Eat your 1-star, 'competing businesses or associated luthiers' good gracious.

Instrument arrived safely - a very well packed renaissance lute. The instrument is fine. Sadly (possibly owing to the cold weather) the top string had broken. On contacting Muzikkon, TWO spares arrived by post free of charge. No complaints!
Update a few weeks later - I am now having lessons with a professional lute player. He is very impressed with the instrument - particularly given the price!

Excellent packaging by Muzikkon. Package had apparently undergone rough handling en route (shipment to Berlin, Germany). Nevertheless, my instrument (a McHugh 29) arrived safe and sound. Speaking of "sound": Even the tuning was still mostly intact and is now astonishingly stable after a just single day of gentle retuning.

My Lute arrived very promptly. Packaged securely. It came in a very nice padded case. With an extra set of strings.
As i am new to the Lute i had to pay attention to how i went about tuning it and any nuances that come with using friction pegs. After that I got it dialed in. The tone is beautiful. Strings are staying in tune as the strings find their place.
I am on my way to making this instrument mine and something i enjoy sitting down to and learning.
This instrument will take me far as i begin my journey into discovering the Lute
a good quality made instrument. Thank you.

I received this beautiful instrument three days ago, so I've had a chance to get used to it a little before writing to you.
As I've often read in your customer reviews, this lute is truly superb and apparently of impeccable quality.
I come from the world of classical guitar, so I am discovering this new feel and these new sounds, which I find enchanting.
When this lute was tuned and began to stabilize a little, which was not very easy, I was particularly surprised by the richness and power of its sympathetic resonances, which create a kind of “reverb” that it naturally carries within it.
It's very inspiring, and now it's up to me to take the time to try to master it.
A big thank you to Muzikkon for this so fine surprise!

It was my very first lute I have bought. It came on time. Unfortunatelly one gut fret was missing. Muzikkon immediately has sent full set of gut frets via express courier service. I would strongly recommend them as professional music store ever.

**Update review**
I reached out to Muzikkon regarding a breakdown of the shipping costs for this purchase. However, they have not responded to my request. We were charged $54.00 for shipping and three weeks later, we received an additional invoice for customs and brokerage fees of $19 from UPS.
We have seen other online sellers charge for shipping only to have COD terms when the items arrive (to show a lower item cost at purchase.

Dave was extremely helpful to me when I was buying my harp. It arrived to my door in perfect condition and I'm absolutely delighted with it.
