I just opened an account with MyFax in the UK and the very first fax I needed to send was to an 0870 number and this failed ('number unreachable'). On reading the welcoming email from MyFax in full it explained that I must call customer support to have this number 'activated'. On ringing the customer support number mentioned in the MfFax email and on their website (0808 804 0015), which involved a short delay waiting for my turn in the queue, I found there was about 5 second delay in the transmission of our speech which lead to mass confusion and much frustration at both ends.
Eventually I was transferred to customer support (!) where I again explained what I wanted to do and after providing my MyFax number the call dropped out.
I rang back and went through the process all over again, this time having to wait considerably longer both to get through to someone on the above number and then waited interminably to get put through to customer support.
After some 5 minutes I gave up and will be cancelling my account.
Update: John did call (within about 15 minutes of posting this review) and in the meantime I tried the only other obviously UK-centric 'fax-by-email' company on the web, eFax, and discovered (after opening an account with them, too) that they are the same company! As the extra steps taken to be able to use 0870 fax numbers was going to take several hours and my fax is urgent I still cancelled my account.

Great tool and customer service.
Very practical to use and efficient.
I only used it once during the COVID quarantine because I needed it for paperwork and then there was no issue in cancelling my account for free.
If I needed to send or receive faxes more frequently I would definitely go with MyFax again.

I did not give it 5 stars because I don't like the fact that you have to give them your credit card; it puts the onus on the customer to remember to call them to ask them to stop the service.

I have used My Fax for at least 8 years. I may have called them for an issue five times. The last experience I had was due to the website being down for a couple of hours for an update. I'm so glad I called. The lady walked me through sending faxes through my email. I am a very happy business owner.
