Mylands is the most trusted name in the film and theatre industries for paints and wood finishes, and is a preferred choice for Royal residences, art galleries, architects, and interior designers. Once a closely guarded secret among professionals, in 2012 they launched their first commercial range - Colours of London - a curated palette of 120 richly pigmented shades that brought Mylands’ signature depth and quality to homeowners and private clients. Dedicated to craftsmanship and quality, Mylands have created paints and wood finishes with a richness and finish to stand apart - thanks to their commitment to using only the finest materials. Mylands continues to manufacture its colours and polishes in the heart of London, and is proud to be the city’s last remaining paint manufacturer. Family remains at the centre of the business. Today, John Myland’s great-grandson, Dominic Myland, leads the company. A trained wood polisher, Dominic has championed innovation while staying true to traditional values, most notably through the development of Mylands’ plant-based paint formulations.

Would have given 5 stars however the courier company let the process down, they delayed delivery, left the package just over the fence by our front gate, then put on their on line delivery note that I had signed for it. I was in all day the delivery person only had to come to the front door. Not impressed with DHL.

As always Mylands have proven exceptional. Paint was ordered over the bank holiday and was delivered promptly afterwards. I haven’t yet opened the paint but I have no doubt it will be top notch. The paint arrived well packaged.

Really pleased how great my hallway looked after painting it with Mylands. The quality of their paint is truly exceptional, so much better than other paints I've used in other parts of my house.

I’ve been buying farrow and ball for years but became increasingly disillusioned with the paint, thin and when touching up quick to change colour so touch ups showed up and where far too obvious. I looked for something better, longer lasting, more durable and easier to apply and tried lots of alternatives, all top of the range, a lot more expensive than F&B and then I finally found Mylands and will never use another brand of paint ever again. The colours are extremely saturated, the paint thick and so easy to apply, we didn’t need to bother with a dust sheet despite a cream carpet. Honestly I’ve never known a paint go on as easily, it didn’t even need a second coat despite it being a pale colour over a very dark blue, we eventually decided to put a second coat on just to protect against scratches and scrapes but it truly covered in one.
I’m so so impressed and my house will soon be a Mylands house as we redecorate room by room. It’s hardwearing, needs to be with too muddy dogs, totally wipable and beautifully matt. Plus patching up two years on, in a room with a fireplace, totally worked, you couldn’t see where I’d gone over a mark made by moving furniture around and scratching the wall badly, now there is no way to see where the scratch was, amazing.
By far the best paint ever, thank you Mylands for producing my dream paint, it ticks every box and then some and the colours are stunning.
Just painted another room using Mylands serpentine and again it surpassed all our expectations, was so easy to paint and looks spectacular, a lovely soft olive green that brings the outside in and makes me think of spring and summer even on the most miserable day and despite it being a room without much natural light.
Can’t wait to start the next project, but first I’m trying Mylands gloss on the windows and skirting boards and will report back, I’m hoping it’s as easy to use as the Mylands emulsion.which is harder wearing than F&B Modern Emulsion but as Matt as the estate emulsion at least, so if you want colour that lasts and doesn’t fade or change, want paint that’s really easy to apply and doesn’t splash everywhere, even when using a roller, want it to be be truly Matt to hide imperfections and want colours to suit every home from a little cottage like mine, to a modern property you honestly can’t go wrong.
It also comes in a huge range of finishes so you can use their standard Matt emulsion that I have used that is incredibly Matt, dead flat Matt, satin, eggshell, gloss, floor and masonry paint, all in so many colours. Your house can be various shades of off whites, or muted classic shades or bright and colourful, whatever you want Mylands has it.
Don’t think twice, delivery is quick and ordering easy but it’s the quality that is out of this world.

Absolutely stand out paint quality. We bought the Gold 001 metallic paint and it has to be world leading standard.
Customer service was second to none also - I had a couple of issues with application (my fault!) and Elijah went away and ran some tests in their office so I didn’t have to risk damaging my walls.
Will definitely buy from them again.

Thanks so much to Elijah for talking me through all my options while looking for a stain and finish for the restoration of my old pine floors. It's such a minefield and Elijah patiently helped out troubleshooting some staining issues I was having testing out a light-fast stain.

As a professional decorator, I like to make sure I am giving my customers a quality finish that will last, and as such, regularly test different manufacturers products to ensure I am providing the best, and I thought I was until I tried Mylands...
Wow... The ease of application, coverage, opacity, finish and durability are absolutely mind blowing throughout the full range! Applied both by brush and roller and by spray methods, it is an absolute joy to use! Yes, the price tag may be slightly more expensive than your ticket every day paints, but when you're taking a matter of pence per square metre, and you know you are guaranteed a top notch finish that will last, that price tag makes a lot more sense!
There's a reason I now solely use Mylands, and I hope to enjoy many more years of the same!

Using Mylands Plant based satin for first time as a pro decorator. Highly recommended by some of my deccie mates.
Wanted to initially spray two old cast iron fireplaces to restore due to time and filler not drying decided to hand paint them. Used a thimble full surprised at the opacity. Looking forward to trying other products. Wish I found Mylands years ago.

Update: Mylands contacted me directly following my 1* review, arranged collection and processed a refund promptly. While the shade didn’t work in my space, I appreciate the effort to resolve the issue.
Very disappointed in Mylands. Having used a number of paints from this company over the years, I was disappointed by Bloomsbury. It does not match either the swatch or the tester pot and is actually very lilac.
Customer services seems to be manned exclusively by one gentleman who is rude, dismissive and quite confrontational.
I shall not be buying from them again.

I've used Mylands a number of times now and can only say the speed of delivery and quality of packaging has been top drawer. The paint covers beautifully and I find I never need a 3rd coat, even if going from colour extremes.
Keep up the great work!

I only ordered samples from this company, and thankfully my losses are minimal for this reason. I will not order anything more.
Unlike their peers, Mylands charges to deliver every sample; by contrast, Farrow & Ball delivery is free for every sample, Edward Bulmer offers free delivery with 2+ samples, etc. The delivery fee is relatively high, almost as much as the sample pot itself.
Considering this, the service is terrible. Day 5 and still no sample. If a little sample pot is this much trouble, God forbid I should order £200 worth of paint.
Spare yourself the anxiety (and money) and just get a colour match at B&Q.
If the sample ever arrives, I'll update this to add a star.
Update: Mylands processed a refund, though their claim DPD tried to contact me is untrue. Only they did. A week later, today, DPD show up at my door with the parcel (so there was no address issue, which I knew), which I refuse (so as to return to sender) as the refund has already been processed. What do they do? Leave it at a local parcel shop! Unbelievably bad (especially when paying for the privilege).
Added a star for at least processing the refund quickly.

This is seriously good paint. I bought enough for two coats but having now put up the primer and one coat of paint it feels like job done. Worth it for the price. Delivery was quick - quoted 2-3 business days and had it delivered the next day. Highly recommended!

I used the QD kitchen and worktop oil on the advice of customer services for my hardwood vintage worktops.
I was advised at the time that the varnish was not fully heatproof so I bought a marble chopping board to put hot dishes etc on. The finished result was absolutely beautiful and I was initially pleased however unfortunately the worktop blistered badly when a visitor put cup of tea down momentarily on it. I am now faced with having to re-sand and revarnish my entire kitchen wortops (with a different brand) as the product is not atall fit for purpose.

We have had a fantastic experience using Myland's colour consultancy service. Gemma is amazing & nailed all of the colour choices, listening to our needs and working together to make sure everything was correct. And actually really caring about the end result, which is massively appreciated. Completely takes all the stress out of a tricky process. I look forward to working together again :)
