Dodgy dealings and disappearing deposits

If you enjoy being jerked around by a removalist company that can’t keep its own pricing straight, this is the one for you. I provided full details for a quote, received a rate, paid a deposit, and then got a confirmation email with a higher rate. When I questioned it, they sent the original quote again — only to call the next day and say, “Oops, it’s actually a different rate,” but hey, they’d knock off $5 as a “favour.” How generous.

This kind of chaotic admin — or let’s be honest, shady bait-and-switch tactics — made it impossible to trust them. We cancelled the booking, but even that was a saga of multiple emails. And the kicker? They refused to refund the deposit, citing an admin fee. Apparently, I was paying for the same incompetence that made me cancel in the first place.

Later I found out they’ve got a warning from Consumer Affairs Victoria for unethical practices. Wish I’d checked sooner. Lesson learned: steer clear unless you enjoy paying for confusion and dishonesty.

I still cant believe how illegal this…

I still cant believe how illegal this was.
Was only trying to move a 2 bed room apartment.

They sent a smaller truck fleet manager lied and said it was a 6 have spent 4+hours on the phone with them in the last two days.

Then they ransom your stuff until you have paid via bank transfer. This way the contractors dont have to pay a cut to mymoovers and they have no workplace safety

They get an extra two stars from me…

They get an extra two stars from me because the moving guys on the day were so nice but disappointed at after-care. The guys damaged my fridge door handle which cost $170 to fix. My Moovers agreed to reimburse within 3 weeks but 7 weeks and several phone calls later I'm just getting excuses and have not seen a cent of my reimbursement. Empty promises.

Do yourself a favour and train a bunch of pack mules..

Every component of our recent relocation was almost perfect with the unfortunate exception of the move itself and its aftermath!
The call centre booking was straight forward (save for an odd request for an inventory after the contract had been agreed to).
A shame, then, that the move itself was so stressful - anxiety induced by the constant moaning from one of the removalists about "loose items" and how we had too much stuff and how the van wasn't big enough....on and on ad nauseatum!!
This was a long distance move. The route chosen by the driver was a treacherous 200km journey over the Victoria Alps. I doubt any other removalist in their right mind would attempt the myriad of tight (some hairpin) bends.
As it turned out, some of our furniture and other items were badly damaged.
Attempts at having MyMoovers compensate us for our loss have proved next to useless. They will not answer their phones to me (I assume they have blocked my number) even though I raised a 'ticket' with their so-called 'support team.'
This company should be investigated by the relevant authorities (which, of course, will come to nothing)

Some of our Belongings never arrived.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment move to a town house. Short distance move.

1. We were propositioned twice by the tall Removalist asking if we wanted to pay in cash and that My Moovers take too much money from the booking. We said no, that we wanted to go through My Moovers so that we were insured and because it’s the right thing to do.

2. I watched the Removalist flip our plasma tv up laying flat on his head to carry it to the truck. I explained Plasma TVs should always be transported upright. Not flat & horizontal. It may not display correctly again - we have to wait and see.

3. I watched the same Removalist move our designer floor lamp out of our apartment while I was inside packing. It never reached the new location.

4. The removalists took a 2 hour lunch break while we waited at the new location after saying they would have a 10 min break. Were they out selling our designer floor lamp?

5. After moving the property into the new place, they asked us to sign for the job. We said no - since the floor lamp was missing - and we needed to check if the tv still worked - so we asked them to meet us back at the old property to check if they left it out the front. They agreed to meet us, then instead, they told My Moovers to charge our credit card for $800 saying the job was complete.

My family paid for a back fill spot…

My family paid for a back fill spot from Melbourne to Adelaide and after the first time getting told the truck broke down and having to change the load date from an apartment the next day was booked and suddenly they didn't turn up without a call at all.
We called up to be notified that the space was now not available after paying money.
This was a terrible service and now has cost us more money to arrange this late in December

Dreadful

Dreadful. Five hours late. Ended up moving in the dark. No communication, NEVER answer their phone. Way overpriced. Inexperienced backpackers got my stuff dirty.

Terrible experience on a stressful day.

A whole truckload of nope...

I engaged MyMoovers for a move from the city to the outer west on 02DEC2020, and it was beyond a joke.
- They arrived 8 hours late, they arrived at 4:30 pm.
- The business booked the wrong sized truck (they did not listen), which would not be big enough for our apartment move.
- Would not return my calls on the matter or just hang-up on me.
- They would not refund my deposit; in fact, I cannot get through to them to get one.
- I had to place a merchant block on my card to stop them from charging me for not working

AVOID AVOID!!!

Rather than have my brother and father do the move with utes and trailers, I opted to book a moving company to relieve the stress of the move. My Moovers weren't the cheapest quote, but they had a 9 am start available which is what I wanted so I paid the extra $70.

The afternoon before at 4.30 pm I had a phone call where they said they could no longer do my move at 9 am the next morning (Saturday) and said it had to be done Sunday. After much push back they finally offered me a 12 pm slot for the Saturday.

I never got a confirmation text, so I phoned the company Saturday morning to confirm and was rudely hung up on twice.

Finally the movers arrived at 12.30 pm. They were nice guys, but had no sense of urgency about them. But I don't think I would either if I was paid $18 an hour!!!! Company charges out $108 per hour.

After an hour and a half, the truck was packed with 1 bedroom and 1 living room of furniture (not even a full apartment!!) Then the lift on the back of the truck broke and wouldn't go down. 2 hours of "15 more minutes till the mechanic gets here later", we were finally on our way for the short 10 minute drive to the apartment. Important to note that the men told me that they'd been asking for the truck to be serviced for 3 months now and they had been refused!!

My Dad, Mum, Sister and myself all helped unpack the truck just to get it done.

It was the most horrendous move I have ever had in my life!! The company phoned me for the remainder of the payment this morning and asked how the move was. I told them it was horrendous and a complete nightmare, without skipping a beat to get further details, they asked me to pay.

The audacity that they think I would be paying the $220 remainder was outrageous, the girl started getting angry at me demanding payment so I hung up. If the company is reading this (which I sincerely doubt) - have a manager who is willing to compromise and take feedback call me or you are not getting a single cent!!!!!!!!

Scammers! Do not use

This company should not be operating, they should be closed down and taken to court.
They will take your money and then ignore all calls, emails, voice mails. They will hang up on you when you ask to speak to accounts about a refund. I have even had a staff member threaten to take money off my card “because they can and they will”. I had to cancel and change my card. Do not use this company!

Took money out of my creditcard two weeks later

I booked a move with mymoovers, I needed a smaller truck as a ferry vehicle, they promised to get back to me regarding this within two days.
After a week no-one had gotten back to me or answered any of my emails.
When I finally managed to reach someone on the phone, I was told, that they had no record of me asking for a second vehicle.
I started worrying and cancelled the service, as I needed a more reliable company.
I was told someone would contact me to arrange my booking fee refund, no-one called me and I was hung up on every time I called to enquire about this.
The day of the move I got a phone call confirming the truck, I told them that I had cancelled this two weeks ago.
So, they charged me another fee, I assume a late cancellation fee. Luckily I had also cancelled in writing and could use this as evidence when I lodged a dispute with my bank.
Do not trust these people, I cancelled my credit card after, as I heard horrendous things about mymoovers.
They were rude to me on the phone, not capable of organising anything and I think I was lucky that I actually cancelled the service, who knows what would have happened.

Beware, scammers and dishonest

Dishonest, disorganised, unhelpful. Bad service, overcharging chasing up incorrect amounts. Sales staff sound find in the beginning, but they're just trying to get your business. Staff are new recruits, packers are untrained 19 year-olds. Won't answer calls (sales staff keep redirecting me deliberately to a dead end and now won't answer my requests to resolve the issue). Drivers and packers tried to get extra money not on invoices.
