Mzansi Biltong Company is an independent Irish food business based in Sligo, bringing authentic South African flavour together with premium Irish beef. Founded by Antonio De Sousa, who was born in South Africa and has more than 30 years of experience in the food industry, the company grew from a love of traditional South African food and a desire to share it with people across Ireland. Our biltong is handcrafted in Sligo using carefully selected spices and premium Irish beef. The meat is prepared, seasoned and slowly air-dried to develop its rich flavour and satisfying texture. Our range includes Plain Flippen Lekker, Garlic and Chilli biltong, as well as traditional droëwors, chilli snap sticks, boerewors and other South African-inspired specialities. Our original Plain Flippen Lekker Biltong was awarded 1 Star at the 2026 Great Taste Awards. This recognition was a very proud milestone for our small Sligo business and reflects the care, consistency and passion that go into every batch we produce. Mzansi Biltong Company is HSE food-safety approved and operates in accordance with HACCP food-safety procedures.
