I met Carmen at a meeting she organised…

I met Carmen at a meeting she organised for nannies a few months ago. From the beginning, she has been very attentive and professional, always taking the time to answer my questions kindly and offering support whenever I needed it. I truly think she does a great job connecting professional nannies with international families, respecting the needs of both sides and providing a high-quality, personalised service with follow-up. Communication has always been very clear, and Carmen is very supportive. I really appreciate her reliability and I would gladly recommend this agency to other nannies and families.

After interviewing several candidates…

After interviewing several candidates on my own, we realized that there was a big difference in quality, in terms of what we were looking for and what we found.
We spoke to Carmen and she took charge of our problem. In less than a week we had several professional profiles that fit our expectations. She took care of checking references, making sure they had a DBS and a first aid course.
We finally found the person we were looking for!

Avoid Nannies on Board at All Costs

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Nannies on Board, and I strongly advise against using their services. Despite their claims of offering a "tailor-made service" when they approached me via a Facebook ad, the reality was far from it.

From the start, they failed to deliver on their promises. Initially, Carmen Castillo, the founder, offered us three candidates. However, she strongly suggested that we go with one in particular. Trusting her expertise, we followed her recommendation, only to discover that the au pair was entirely unskilled and inappropiate for the role. She lacked even the most basic childcare skills, such as properly holding a baby. This was shocking, especially considering we were led to believe we were getting a candidate who was adequately vetted and ready to take on childcare responsibilities.

When we realized something was amiss with the au pair, we sought references to better understand her background and qualifications. Shockingly, the agency failed to provide these references, leaving us with no way to properly assess her suitability after she had already started. This was a major red flag and compounded our dissatisfaction.

When I raised these concerns, I was met with dismissiveness and excuses. The agency's founder, Carmen Castillo, was particularly rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful in dealing with the matter. Despite the agency's promises of a bespoke service, they failed to provide even the most basic level of customer care.

To add insult to injury, when we pointed out these significant failures, we were told that an au pair is not qualified to look after a baby and that we should have hired a nanny instead—something that was never clearly communicated in writing or on their website, which, by the way, doesn’t even mention au pairs as part of their service offering.

Despite the obvious breach of contract, time wasted and the tension this has caused at home, Carmen Castillo has refused to refund us. It is clear that Nannies on Board is more interested in making a quick profit than in providing the quality service they advertise. They showed no accountability and no willingness to resolve the situation fairly. We are now left with no choice but to pursue further action to recover the fees we paid for this subpar service.

If you are looking for a reliable, professional, and trustworthy childcare agency, steer clear of Nannies on Board. They failed us at every turn, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what we did.

This person contacted us to hire an aupair (it's a cultural interchange not even a job) with the same quality, experience and references as a professional nanny that where obviously her salary is much higher. We advised her at all times that what she was doing was not correct and that if we found her a candidate it would be with less experience.

We found a candidate who not only had experience but was a professional nanny but who was also going to adapt to her conditions and her salary (clearly she was going to be underpaid).

My candidate asked to see the contract stipulated a week before her arrival (she had already bought the plane tickets) and the start date had been chosen. She managed to see her contract a day before her arrival despite we insisted from the agency and my candidate several times to send it her with enough time to review it previously. When she arrived to England she realized that what they had agreed verbally and in writing did not match what my client had initially explained to her. She studied at the online university and specified to my client that she needed two days to do her classes and she agreed so they both accepted her contract. My candidate arrived and nothing was as it had been explained to her or as they had agreed. Her days, hours and tasks did not correspond to what was agreed and in addition to all this my client was going to make her work more for the low salary than normal.

My candidate was spoken to badly (with shouts) and mistreated, despite that we advised her to sort it out with my client but she told us "that for her mental health she had to leave" my client referred to her as a person "who did not fit the age she claimed to be. She seemed childish" and verbally abused her.

After an exhaustive search by the agency and having found a candidate who was not only overqualified and was going to pay her below the state minimum wage, we offered her solutions such as finding a candidate to replace her completely free of charge and she refused to let us find another person for her.

The contract she signed stipulated that the fees paid would never be returned and she accepted.

During the following days when we tried to find a solution, all I received was shouts and threats over the phone.
