Terrible bank

Terrible bank. My father has been a customer for many years. I am now acting as his POA and they have treated us like criminals while we are trying to ensure he has enough cash to meet his needs. This has caused us a huge amount of stress from emails and phone calls. The funny thing is that no one has ever contacted us about making any changes to get a better interest payment. All they are interested in is restricting access to people’s own money.
Will be closing account in the new year.
Avoid this unethical bank and remember they are working against you and not for you.

GOING BACK TO NATWEST

We left NatWest about 4 years ago (after being with them for over 30 years) owing to the lack of mobile app features. Over the 4 years we tried Starling, Monzo and other high street banks but decided to go back to NatWest. I’m not knocking the others but NatWest have now upped their game considerably with the mobile app and its improving all the time. Also the fact we have everything under one roof, Reward Account, Credit Cards and Digital Savers. So it’s back to NatWest for us.

Wish I could give zero stars

Wish I could give zero stars. NatWest does not know the meaning of the phrase 'customer service '. 8 weeks and counting, they still have not resolved a complaint. The best advice they can offer is to take it to the ombudsman. Tonight, 48 minutes for the helpline to answer the phone, only to be told I have to visit a branch. My nearest branch is over half an hour drive away, and parking in the area is astronomical. I am guessing customers are the furtherest thing from their minds when closing branches.

Rubbish customer service

I have banked with Nat West for 50 years I have an urgent query and after trying their rubbish assistant I had to spend 13 minutes waiting to be put in a queue answering yes no questions then after another 15 mins queueing I rang off so I’m don’t know how to get an answer it’s scary not knowing if a large transaction has a problem or not

Thinking of Settling up an Account? Don’t Bother!

Don’t bother even trying to set up a savings account for a parent (I have power of attorney). They just can’t join the dots - there really is no joined up thinking. Unbelievably incompetent, from the lack lustre in-branch staff member I saw to the reps on the phone who are incapable of helping you. Having been initially accepted by the team on the phone (for an unacceptably long time - 1 hour!) and being instructed to take ALL required documents and ID into the branch at Norwich. I did all this and all docs were scanned in branch and even though I was told they were submitted via the online portal - it turned out that not all the required documents were submitted! The member of staff I saw in-branch is obviously an unhelpful idiot. A complete waste of my time. I submitted a complaint but it hasn’t been resolved and I haven’t heard anything from the bank regarding this. I was going to deposit a substantial amount in the bond but I will save with a more competent bank as I feel ignored and I have no confidence in their ability to manage even the simplest of tasks, i.e., setting up a new account! Unbelievably poor customer service and an even worse experience with this bunch of idiots.

I recently experienced raising a dispute through NatWest, and I have to say, the process has been incredibly complicated and frustrating. The process seems designed to confuse rather than assist. I was left second-guessing myself about whether I was even submitting my issue correctly.

Once I managed to submit my dispute, the response time was long, just at the end to receive "The Bank is unable to sit in judgement on the merits of the claim or arbitrate between the parties involved. The only line of enquiry available is where the retailer is unwilling to provide goods or services. Although we are unable to process a claim for you through Mastercard dispute resolution, it does not necessarily follow that you do not have a case. If you pursue the matter through your local Trading Standards Authority or Citizens Advice Bureau they may be able to advise you further"

I am disappointed in their inability to effectively help me resolve the issue and I'm searching for another bank who are respecting their clients more.

If I could give it no stars

If I could give it no stars, I would.
I’ve been battling for months to resolve two Will Trust accounts for my grandparents as NatWest decided not to support these type of account a few years ago. Sadly no other banks wanted to take new Trust Funds accounts on and therefore couldn’t bank the cheques issued upon closure.
For the past few months, I have supplied numerous copies of trust documents to demonstrate change in trustees but yet they keep asking for other copies of original documents.
When calling them and asking to talk to a specific agent previously dealing with the case, I was advised that the call could not be transferred but a message could be passed on and they ‘may’ call me back. Wow!! Frustrating and I have challenged the fact that they should have these from when they set the account up initially.
Sadly no response.
No response either to my request for NatWest to send me details of both internal and external complaints procedures and no call back.
I am beyond annoyed now, it’s so ridiculous. Unless you absolutely have to, please bank elsewhere.

I had an emergency and was let down

I had an emergency, my card stopped working and I was stranded. In a huge storm. I tried the call centre, it makes every effort to block you from talking to a person. When on the 3rd attempt to get in the right queue I had a 30 minute wait. After a total of an hour on the phone to broken distorted music and not finding anyone to talk to I tried the web chat. That didn't work either. So after 25 years I'm closing my account.

My civil partner died and he dealt with all the bills , Nat west bereavement are insisting on proof of address . I do not have a driving licence nor did I pay any utilities . I have banked with Nat west for decades as did my civil partner. I now need to prove who I am and where I live . I have sent them my passport , civil partnership certificate ( my address is on it ) but ohhhhh no , this won’t do . I can use my Nat West statement and passport to open a bank account elsewhere and NAT WEST will accept a statement from this newly opened account as proof of address !!!!!!!! What a total farce you are Nat west !!!!

sorry i wrote on insurance when it is a bank.
I am the victim of hate crime stemming from safeguarding offences using phones to connect hatred and abuse at witnesses of serious safeguarding abuses.
this has extended to Nat West where meet and greet Devon dressed scuffy and with tatoos seemed to be familar with me in that he blatantly stroke his beard part which they do to intimidate me. It was also done by Lloyds meet and greet both on CCTV. When I explained the situation Devon said that I was being reported to the NCA when I advised the difficulties had been reported to the NCA. I took this as further evidence and some of his small talk which was aimed at me. It was in Norwich. I have reported all concerns at COOP where out of spite and hate they cut of my card for a weekend continual abuse me behind the counter in devious inneundo whatever. As such further action will be taken and if you wish to consult CCTV do let me know.

NatWorst should be the name

NatWorst should be the name, nothing but trouble and bots who are programmed to be obtuse. I will, if ever given the chance withdraw my funds when I arrive in the UK soon - and change to another bank with a customer service that actually is available. Hell it's even made difficult to write a complaint.

Banked with them since 1977 out of loyalty. But they are now an anonymous, impersonal utter shambles.

I have banked with them since 1977, but have had enough. Impossible to speak to anyone human, just the useless website garbage called Cora. Not even a usable email address provided. Unworkable, impersonal, and downright awful. Plus dim-witted cabbage staff if I do drive the eight miles to a branch. Many better banks out there. Keep away from NatWest.

One star is too much

Dreadful experience. I believe this bank now incorporates RBS? Their systems are slow and useless. My son is living overseas, has sold a property here, and now cannot access the proceeds of the sale to purchase a new home. He has been unable to proceed with a house purchase as they failed to resolve what should have been be a straightforward issue, despite 2 weeks endlessly on line and on the telephone. Also we will incur a £10000+ currency loss with the delays. The systems are like something from the dark ages. We cannot access our money we are told until I upload my biometric details ( voice and face recognition) but RBS/ Nat west systems are not allowing me to do that. This account, which includes my power of attorney, has been in place for at least 20 years. Nothing but delay after delay, and they seem incapable of resolving the issues or offering any alternative solution. No one seems capable of taking any discretionary action and no one takes responsibility for anything. The managers hide. You deal with person after person and have to repeat the same details over and over again. Noone talks to each other. It’s like beating your head off a wall. I despair and the stress of dealing with this has been/ is immense. Do not place any money in the hands of this incompetent, outdated, customer unfriendly business. We still haven’t got our money and I’m terrified this bank goes bust before we get it

⭐☆☆☆☆ NatWest allows scams to continue by refusing to cancel recurring payments

NatWest have knowingly made it difficult for customers to stop continuous payments. They pretend they can’t cancel them — when in fact, under the FCA’s Payment Services Regulations 2009, they absolutely can.

I only found out the truth after digging online: you have to literally say the words

“This is a continuous payment authority. Under the FCA’s Payment Services Regulations 2009, I am exercising my right to cancel it. Please block all future payments to this merchant.”

Until you say that exact sentence, they act like they’re powerless to stop the money leaving your account — even when it’s an obvious scam or unwanted subscription.

This is disgraceful behaviour from a major UK bank. Instead of protecting customers, they hide behind technicalities to let shady merchants keep taking money. I expected better from a bank that claims to put customers first.

Nat West home insurance

Nat West home insurance
Had a mortgage with Nat West, so I found it convieient to have Nat West Home Insurance which was on auto renewal. Nat West took advantage of me as a loyal customer, charging twice the going rate annually for a similar policy with another reputable company. I have since cleared my mortgage and have now moved to another insurer, saving over 30 pounds per month. If you are covered with Nat West, then insure the auto renewal box is unchecked or they will take advantage of you. Loyal customers should get the best deal in my view.
