Really poor service, should have looked at reviews before I signed up. I am international and new to Canada on their newcomers account- echo what other people have said with poor customer service (unsure if it's because I am not canadian or if it's to everyone). On hold for hours only for them to be really rude, they blocked my account because I transferred money to the account from abroad - I explained yes, I am on a newcomers account so I will be NEW to canada of course I am transferring money into it that's the whole pont of the account. Was met with really rude people. Do not bank here if you are new to Canada

Terrible experience with NBC ! We need to initiate an international wire transfer remotely for months, finally over dozen communications they send us the necessary paperwork. Once signed, they disappeared, after several other emails the branch manager finally get back to us saying that they can’t do ! Why signing papers then ?
The online services are very far from what other banks can offer. Fees are very high, and services very low. They are not living in 2024 but are stuck in 2010.
They did not even answer our last email saying that we’ll close our accounts, after more than 25 years being clients, they really don’t care.

Fees change without notice, and customer service and financial advisors are clueless about their industry. They are completely focused on upselling and never really listen to your needs. They are ruthlessly trying to sell as many services as they possibly can. STAY AWAY!!!
Terrible bank for international clients
Terrible bank for international clients! Staff at this brance are rude and patronising and the wrong info has been given to us, which is now detrimental to our finances. We specifically went in person to double check before we left the country. Now they have told us they 'misunderstood' what we were asking. When asked if there was a limit to the amount $$$ to wire, she nearly laughed in our face- announcing you can wire millions. It doesnt matter if you have 100, 1000 or 1 million in the bank, each customers money should be treated with the same respect and due diligence. Im actually appauled that due to a member of staffs wrong info, we will be 1000s $$ out of pocket! The staff in question actively told us she was igorning the emails (we needed money fast as everything is tired up in our canadian account) so we were trying to find out the next steps and were not even notified there had been a block on the account so could not access anything. The excuse was we werent sure in the money going into the account was legitimate! We had informed the staff during our in person visit, our house was sold and there was a sum of money going into the account. Just poor customer service, poor communication and very concerning

I have been NBC customer for over 7 years now. I have few mortgages with them. Always the best rates, the best customer service. Pleasure working them them. Maybe I just got lucky with my rep, but I have zero complaints.
4 hours phone call for one statement
Called investment department for a statement for 10times in two weeks. Costed me 4hrs I total. They finally sent me one with password, but the password they told me was wrong. I had to call again to get the correct password. What an inefficient working system! An bunch of nonprofessional staff without proper manner, wasting people’s time and money!
Too many hurdles to access our RESP
Terrible bank to deal with regarding our RESP. They have requested three different letters from the U.S. university that our daughter attends to release OUR money. We were told that they are only used to dealing with Canadian institutions. Not great advertisement for a so called legitimate bank. Stay away from this bank.

I'm a National Bank Customer close to 40 years. August 1 2024 I called the National bank pickering branch and asked to speak to mortgage consultant and I was told the person was not in the branch and they took my telephone number and was told consultant will call me back. I didnt hear from the consultant for a week and I visited the pickering branch and said no one called I had asked to speak to mortgage consultant today its August 10th and no call. Terrible service to client of 40 years

Worst customer service and banking experience ever. Different answers from each worker, insanely rude representatives, each one see milt more incompetent the the other.
I asked to import my vehicle with a lien on it to the states, was told no 100 times despite my contract saying I was allowed to do so.
Eventually the bank calls me and says “actually yes, we give you permission if you agree to X conditions via email”
I agree to the conditions via email and then the bank would not acknowledge that they had said they gave me permission. Each employee just played stupid, even when I sent them the email confirmation that they sent me.
I will never recommend this bank to anyone. It is the worst. I don’t even think it’s a real bank. I wish I had known before I financed through them. Worst mistake I’ve made in 15 years.

NATIONAL BANK Pickering branch. I had an issue with my bank account that was my own fault. The staff, on Monday July 29th were extremely helpful. They were professional, polite & kind. Most importantly they solved my problem.

Wish I could give a negative review. I bank with all of the major banks in Canada without having any issues. I opened this account up so I could test them out, but I would personally advise, under my own opinion, anyone and EVERYONE to avoid these discriminatory criminals at all costs.
There is much reason why they are not considered “one of the big”. They are pathetic, customer service is rude and disrespectful, you cannot get any answers and they are incredibly racist and don’t follow their own quality commitment.
I’m a hearing impaired aboriginal and the customer service has treated me with great disrespect. Disrespect my disability as well as my ethnic background.
I have an issue with my account (given no detail), they say to call the number, call them, no help, call another one, no help, another one (please go into the branch that’s 50 minutes, one-way, away from your address), go into branch and the manager isn’t there and the normal clerks can’t help (after getting a translator to tag along with me and waiting in a 38 minute line up). Call again, no help. Reach out online for help and expediting my issue. No help. I’m glad I have money in all my other accounts, couldn’t imagine someone banker here and here only because they wouldn’t be eating, getting gas, or any basic necessities for (from my experience), over two weeks.
I won’t begin to review their discriminatory behaviour and the racism that I experienced here as someone of the Ojibway nation, but wow, disgusting.

Would never recommend any one. Daily they will ask for your bank statement until they reject your application over some stupid reason. They should shut their business.

Account locked with no warning or info.
Went to make a payment only to find out I have no access to my accounts. I tried signing into the app and online portal only to find all my sign in info has been removed. Tried the 'forgot password' option only to be told my info cannot be verified. I call the customer service line and they tell me my accounts are locked and I need to call the security department. When I call, I am on hold for 2.5 hours with no answer. I call customer service again and they tell me there is no way for them to contact the secirity department and that I just need to wait on hold until someone answers. They also tell me that they have no information as to why my account has been locked and their supervisors cannot contact the department either.
Because of this I do not have access to my money to pay rent, car loan, or buy food.

Business Account client here. This is by far the worst banking option in Canada. They're 10 years behind their competitors in terms of technology and their Customer service will give you a different answer to the same inquiry each time you call. Unacceptable!
We don't like National bank very much
We don't like this bank very much, because every time I call their customer service number, I have to wait a long time and listen to music for a long long long time!
Such a long time is very disadvantageous to the people who buy and sell stocks, because the changes of the stock market every minute are very big!
So when we encounter stocks falling desperately, and we happen to be unable to sell or other operations do not understand the need for timely customer service help, and no one answers the phone for a long time, that is really very sad, very bad!
So I sincerely hope that the customer service phone call of National Bank, especially the Chinese customer service phone, can be as good as the Chinese customer service of Direct Investing of RBC Bank!
