Bullied by a racist ... Nextdoor did nothing.

I was being bullied by a young racist male on Nextdoor. He harangued me every time I posted. It started when the statue of the slave trader (Edward Colston) was pulled down in Bristol. It got so bad that he actually turned up on his bike at my house & started shouting at me from the pavement! There used to be a map on "your details," showing the road where you lived with a red pin on your house! Not sure if there still is. I contacted the police at this point, as I was concerned for my safety. They took it seriously thankfully, but didn't contact him. They instead spoke to someone at Nextdoor, but they just chucked this yob off for a week, he came back on and became even more aggressive. Tried to turn other members against me, by playing the victim card. Said I was anti the town he lives in, when I was brought up there! He also invented various alter egos to attack me on there. Could tell it was him, as he used the same syntax. No matter how many time I complained, he was allowed to carry on because some of the voluntary "Admins" are right wingers too. I contacted Nextdoor HQ, but I was the one kicked off for 2 weeks for challenging my most local Admin who had posted an anti Starmer conspiracy theory meme near an election. Personally, I dislike Starmer, but I thought it totally wrong that an Admin should be posting anything "political, " let alone a conspiracy theory. Some people are naive enough to believe whatever they see in print. I understand this Admin has moved even further right now and so she'll be kicking anyone off the site who speaks up against Farage. So if you want to join an organisation that also gives far right thugs carte blanche online like X does, go ahead. Me, I'm keeping off both sites ... forever.

Conservatives need not apply... 😐

Over all, about average was my experience of this site. It is fine for local information, recommendations for trades and general chit chat.
Its ok for politics, providing that you are not Conservative. They cater for Lefty and Liberal types of people on their site. They will not tolerate a Conservative point of view. You will get pulled up on discrimination violations and going against their guidelines.
It is definitely not a free speech site and so sits well with this Commie government, that we now have running the UK.
My account was indefinitely suspended today. As I have upset some Lefty Liberal bedwetter no doubt. I am glad that I tried it. But it is not inclusive of everybody. If you are Conservative, you might want to give this platform a BIG swerve....

02/10/2025- Account reinstated today, done in error apparently...🤔 There are some people on there who don`t like my right wing views and so will flag up my comments, to get them taken down. This is the first time, that they have shut down my account though. I will soldier on regardless, I have a right to be heard.....

A sounding board for racists

Joined this app today to help my son look for a job. After trawling through post after post spouting racist rubbish about immigrants, I deleted it. Worse than a local Facebook group!

Lefty Next Door

Next Door App is bias against free speech you are not allowed to have an opinion. If you do they suspect your account without just a reason or any chance of defending yourself shame as the theory behind it could be good in connecting people with their neighbours shame it is a lefty site.

A website where it’s like being back at…

A website where it’s like being back at school where people post cruel comments. Also you can have comments removed when there’s nothing wrong with them. No freedom of speech here. Why does this website exist? I thought it was about events and groups to join. Maybe some free advice. It’s a horrible trolling website. They send you constant emails clogging up your inbox. It’s a pointless website. Where people vent their opinions. I had one cruel comment in particular which upset me so left Nextdoor. I don’t need this in my life.

Unscrupulous spam

This is clearly a scam as they scrape information and email addresses from the web and send people an email to say "Thanks for creating your Nextdoor entity account. To continue, please verify your email address by clicking the button below." This drives people to visit the website and interact. Spam emails sent without your knowledge or consent should be a criminal offence.

Absolute rip off merchants

Absolute rip off merchants, DO NOT advertise with these people, I paid them for an advert, the first time they charged me and didn't even put the ad on, I had to chase them for the money back, The second time, the ad was bringing no leads at all in, so I cancelled it when I had used the budget, the next month they re billed me, when I questioned them, they said that the ad had run impressions, which was a total lie as I checked that I had stopped it and owed nothing. They refused to give my money back which they helped themselves to from my bank account. Please do not advertise with these commen

This is absolutely the worst idiotic…

This is absolutely the worst idiotic idea you could put into a community, this will cause stress and even violence' as all communities are different, and in most they don't even communicate, so it's a platform to punish your neighbours if you are more popular in your community.
Disgusting' what's this world coming to?

Do not protect members

I have been the focus of one particular member for some time. They float around my posts and always respond with insults. They call me an idiot, they ridicule my disability. She then went on to contact me in personal messages to the point she threatened me physically and I suggested she was getting very close to my needing to get the police involved.

I had reported every attack on me in the 'posts' area and never once got any feedback from moderators.

After her threat of a physical nature she then reported me to the moderation team for sexual harassment and ignoring her request for me to not contact her. Neither is true. As I stated, she contacted me, all I did was, within their own guidelines, defended myself against her nasty comments.

Then I got my account suspended. Why? Because a report had been made of sexual harassment and it was upheld. I am gay by the way, happily married to my husband, no hostility to male or females.

I tried to appeal but, the 'submit' button does not work.

Eventually I did find an online form to contact them and someone called Noor Azima emailed me back. They addressed none of the issues at all, they just apologised that the software does not work and repeated my account was in suspension for breaking their guidelines which, having checked and rechecked, I never once did.

I replied but, guess what, they don't accept emails at the help email address making it impossible for a coherent conversation.

As the victim Nextdoor has aided the attacker, acted as an eager weapon against a vulnerable person.

I have again filled in yet another online form, I am expecting yet another disinterested reply.

From my experience, they cannot be trusted to keep members safe. As their members are by definition, neighbours, they allow for real world confrontation if members go unchecked.

I am a strong person but, I lost some sleep over this as I do, even as a man, feel threatened now. No one who keeps within the rules of a social forum should ever feel threatened. Moderation teams should be trained to investigate appropriately.

I am honest here, I was shocked just how huge this company is. They come across almost as a local group of enthusiasts in community, they clearly are not that.

Avoid if you are in the least bit vulnerable.

You deserve all you get with this rubbish!

I was a member of this rubbish a while back until some neighbour got confused and falsely accused me of various things I was supposed to have said when it's now been exposed it was another neighbour they had an issue with. I contacted ND to advise that they can't spread false accusations and they should have their account reviewed but they blocked me! Best thing ever too, as it just proved what rubbish it was and should be completely done away with.

COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR ANYTHING 'NEIGHBOURLY'

-100
I am absolutely FED UP AND DISGUSTED with nextdoor because I accidentally clicked on a text from a friend and DID NOT SIGN UP TO IT FOR MYSELF even though I must have put in my email address somewhere in my friend's text. I have UNSUBSCRIBED AND KEPT UNSUBSCRIBING MULTIPLE TIMES and yet I have STILL RECEIVED YET ANOTHER EMAIL FROM NEXTDOOR today. I do NOT wish to hear about stabbings etc or adverts for new restaurants opening anywhere especially when they are MILES AWAY FROM ME ANYWAY!!!!! They obviously have no understanding of what being neighbourly means because they have completely disregarded my continual UNSUBSCRIBING and clearly so, as I have not even got as far as 'verifying' my email with them when I looked on their website. Obviously they have made me far too angry to ever choose to sign up to anything with them given that they keep on completely ignoring my choice to BE FORCED TO CONTINUALLY UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THEM. So unless you enjoy continually receiving completely irrelevant emails, then save yourselves some aggravation and NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS! At least I can be thankful I never entered my phone number anywhere with them!

No accountability for Rogue traders they promote

Joined recently and quickly remembered why I'd left years ago. Very much for reasons explained elsewhere on these reviews, but also because, without any prompting Nextdoor promoted a Rogue trader I'd had issues with years ago.

I pointed this out to Nextdoor, who suggested I raise a case. They completely missed my point. My issue was years ago, I wanted to know why they did not vet the tradespeople they promote. The guy in question only takes a quick Google search, he is infamous in local news across the UK and also in the national press.

As Nextdoor take no accountability for the Trades promoted on their platform, my decision to delete account was easy. The fact that they didn't understand why this they should be concerned by this issue and took no accountability for it was staggering.

Do not give them your data

Logged in to this godforsaken social network once five years ago and have not been able to stop the endless barrage of emails from them. Have tried countless times to unsubscribe and I continue to receive emails.

Since unsubscribing clearly does nothing, about a year ago I deleted my account in the hopes this would stop the spam, and while that worked for a bit, recently I have started receiving emails again! Have gone through the process to delete my account again but am fully expecting to receive emails from them in the future. They've gone out of their way to make it as difficult as possible to delete your account.

The wording of the account deletion confirmation email is also very specific: it doesn't say your account has been deleted, merely "closed", and then it says after an arbitrary 7 days "the process to fully delete your data will be initiated". Unclear when my data will be deleted, just that they'll "initiate" the "process" of deleting it. Utter nonsense. Do not give them your data, they do not respect your wishes when you want it removed.

On Android nextdoor is a mess

On Android nextdoor is virtually impossible to navigate or use, I've just wasted half an hour trying to delete a listing for a free item I have now given away, and it's simply impossible to find any menu or way of deleting the post. I don't know which is worse in this regard, nextdoor or Facebook.

I make and sell knitted toys for charity but recently NEXTDOOR are suggesting I discount them to FREE. THIS is ridiculous and am really disappointed I them. At one time Nextdoor concentrated on local neighbourhood now it stretches far and wide. Would like to come off it but lots of my customers are on it and a lot of them are not on Facebook.

Useless site now just an advert platform

The website is slow and unresponsive, the app is worse, whoever designed it needs sacking today. How can you have it so the keyboard covers the text box when responding. That's if it even works. Half the time the app just stops, often my phone turns off when using it.

No end of posts from nowhere near me, no way to just choose local people and events. Today I got one from a town 60 miles away in Waltham Cross, I'm in Maidstone!!!

This is clearly now a data harvesting tool and with ads absolutely drowning it, you can be sure it is nothing about bringing communities and people together but actually about being an advertising platform. I just deleted the whole thing as it is beyond a joke now. This is 2025, apps need to work.
