My wife and I were big fan of standup comedy. During the lockdown we felt a bit lost since we discovered NextUp. Not only its streaming catalog is super-rich, anything you want is already there... in many flavour, but since NextUp launched the weekly live streaming I don't feel lost anymore.

I love NextUp comedy. It has been amazing the last year. The live shows are as close as you can get to being at a real gig. Being part of an actual audience and seeing and hearing other people laugh makes a huge difference to the experience of watching comedy at home. The comedy festivals have been amazing and the huge variety of acts means there is something for everyone. I have discovered loads of new comedians I would never have seen otherwise and made friends for life in the online community that has sprung up from the gigs.
There is a vast amount of things to watch in the app and new things appear all the time. I have just bought lifetime membership because I know they will keep me laughing for a very long time.
The NextUp crew are all lovely. Can't do enough to help and keep things running smoothly and clearly love comedy as much as I do.
It has made a huge difference to my mental health and happiness through lockdown. Also as a wheelchair user there are many comedy clubs that are not very accessible. NextUp has made comedy available to everyone no matter where you live or what your circumstances and supported so many acts who have been unable to perform for the last year.
I really can't rate them highly enough. For the price of a few tickets to live shows you can have all the laughs you could ever want. 😍

I've joined up during the lockdown and I've really loved the service. I did initially have some issues with log in and access, but the support team were very quick and helpful in resolving.

The catalogue of shows is great, but its the weekly free zoom shows which are the real steal here. Basically for £10 a month I'm getting 4 live comedy shows with brilliant acts.

So worth the money

The Virt Locker always has a fantastic line-up of comedians - well-known faces and hilarious newcomers, plus you become one of a great community of comedy fans from across the world. The best two hours of the week!

NextUp has been a life saver during the numerous lockdowns. Not only is there a lot of content but there are also the live gigs which members get free tickets for or the option to just watch the live shows in the app.

It would be great if the live shows were added to the app though. I’d love to rewatch some of last year's comedy festival for example.

I heard from support and I now have access to content. It was just so frustrating to see those little padlocks because they really have a lot of terrific content, brilliant comedians. If there is one thing that the we all need right now it’s the chance to laugh and to forget the idiocy that surrounds us. I recommend NextUp.

My card has been charged for a full year of access, I'm signed in, but all content on the site is locked. The site will not recognize my subscription. This is unacceptable. I want my access or I want my money back. Emails to support don't seem to get anyone's attention so maybe a negative review will.

I have numerous problems with Next Up’s apps and website not recognising that I’m a subscriber, even though you can be sure my money left my account for them! I think it’s a real shame, and every time all they do is blame the Apple app, or the Amazon app, or anything other than fix the problem. It’s a bit of a scam. There is content there, and when I’ve been able to watch it I’ve enjoyed it (although as others say, it’s probably worth less money than they charge), but you actually have to be able to watch it. And when there’s a problem they should fix it, not just blame anyone else.

UPDATE: I note NextUp has replied to this review but they haven’t replied to the emails I sent earlier (before this review) about the issues I’ve had getting their service to work. Can I suggest Nextup, you prioritise replying to customer emails rather than just public reviews. Or do you want to resolve all customer issues on Trustpilot? You risk ruining your service with poor complaint management.

For fans of comedy this is well worth the subscription fee. It's the only platform which champions the genius yet lesser known talent of the comedy world where the shows have so much more uniqueness and insight than the Netflix fodder. My only request would be i would like to see more content as i know a lot of the comedians featured have more recent well received shows than ones featured which i'd love to see.

They should make it more clear it’s cheaper to pay for their service not on an apple device. £9.99 was too much per month.

Also they did a one year deal for £24 so I bought it, great value.

If they were to have a vision similar to Apple TV+ and just lower the monthly price to get more customers it could be make them dominant around the world and not just in the UK.

They could really be the Netflix of comedy with continuing effort

I really want to love this service. The only thing that let's it down is the price.

I am sure they will give their good reasons why it's priced at the price it is, but when it's priced, more per month, than Netflix & Disney+ you have to ask are they being greedy or do they just have poor management deciding on the price?

I am no expert but I do believe if the price was a more realistic, £4.99 per month, and no, not by paying a large up front yearly amount to get it at a cheaper price, most people don't have the cashflow to splash out £50+ in one go and pretty much all monthly streaming services are a 'per month' basis.

I do feel they have priced themselves out of the market and if this service was £3.99 a month, say, £2 below Disney+ service, I am no marketing expert but I do believe they would make more profit because they'd probably get way more subscriptions at that lower price.

Just my two cents from here in the UK.

I love stand up comedy, and NextUp has created the platform I've been looking for for ages. They are constantly adding new content and improving the platform. I'm so excited I found them!

LOVE this app! It's great for seeing comedians you'd never be able to see normally (the tickets to shows are a pretty good perk too!)

Take money but not being able to play any

Crap content, but I thought... “you know what, it’s a free trial and they ‘delete your account after your trial if you cancel your subscription!’” Anyways, I cancel my subscription that was that...

Or so I thought, turns out, I got billed yesterday (24th July 2019) for almost £50! Oi, I cancelled my subscription... what The hell are you playing at?

The only thing I'd recommend this awful “comedy club” For is somewhere to stick fake credit card details on!

A small issue I had with the 7 day free trial was replied to quickly and dealt with instantly.

If you're a fan of standup, this is a no-brainer. Cheap service with a lot of content on, some good, some not so good, but on the whole amazing value.

The best service for seeing lesser-known, up and coming comedy acts that would never get anywhere near the big-name streaming services. There are a few well-known comedians here too but most of the names are new to me. If you have a real interest in stand-up comedy then there's nothing else like this.

NextUp is an excellent and inexpensive service for fans of stand up comedy, centering on perfomeres on the UK circuit. You won't find this selection of big names and newcomers anywhere else. It is not a substitute for seeing comedy live, but is is an invaluable addition for fans who may not have the opportunity to catch this wide variety of performers due to geography, accessability or funds.

I will award the service with five stars. It probably should be four and a half because of small hiccups: The app sometimes freezes and new shows could be added more frequently, but both seem to be improving.
