Refuses to act on phishing – absurd bureaucracy and zero responsibility
I reported an active phishing domain (openbugbounty.org.mx) impersonating a legitimate project to scam users. Instead of taking action or investigating this security threat, NIC Mexico / Registry.MX completely brushed off the issue (Ticket #MA600375538) with generic copy-paste templates and zero accountability.
Their handling of the case was completely inappropriate for a phishing report. They ignored my explicit statement that the registrar (Porkbun) had already rejected the report, simply telling me to contact Porkbun again. Furthermore, they referred me to expensive WIPO trademark procedures—which are entirely irrelevant for active fraud—and even suggested that a private international user should file a criminal complaint with the Mexican National Guard.
NIC Mexico shows zero interest in protecting internet users from fraud on their .mx TLD, hiding behind absurd bureaucratic hurdles while scam sites remain online.
