I am pleased with Nick's products and …

I am pleased with Nick's products and pricing.

Ordering from Nick's was cumbersome. Ordering required several phone calls with several people and completing several forms. Much of the information I provided was repeated several times with several people and forms. It was a very inefficient process. Nick's forgot to return my initial calls; I had to call a few times and leave a few messages before I received a call back. When I called Nick's on weekends, people answered the phone, but didn't have much knowledge or responsibility for helping me; they mostly told me to call back during weekday business hours.

Nick's website is quite disorganized and does not have a clear obvious path and process for creating an order. People I spoke with at Nick's were completely unaware of how Nick's website worked, how I would obtain order forms from the website, etcetra. I had to request order forms at least twice.

After much searching and inquiry, I found and I downloaded an order form from Nick's website. I completed the order form and sent it to Nick's twice, to two different addresses. After receiving my order form, Nick's called me and sent me at least one additional order form to complete and return, which contained the same information with slightly different organization.

People were kind and friendly.

Website describe the products well.

Several months passed between my initial contacts with Nick's and receiving a product. During that time, I did not receive much communication from Nick's. During that time, Nick's "finishing department" requested that I complete another order form describing the wood finish that I had already requested on other forms.

It seems like Nick's did not provide an accurate estimate for product delivery date, until a few days before product delivery. It seemed like I didn't receive any estimate for product delivery. It is possible that Nick's provided estimated dates, but I don't remember seeing those estimates.

The product arrived with a large custom-made crate. It would have been very nice if the delivery "service" provided a specific time for delivery, instead of a 4 hour window. The delivery "service" was supposed to call me 1 hour before delivery, and didn't call; I had to make a call to the company, and then to the driver.

The driver did not help me remove the products from the crate or inspect the products for damage. Nor did the driver help me remove the product from the crate. Nor did the driver take the crate away or provide an alternate mechanism for taking the crate away. The crate is very big and heavy and consumes a lot of space. I still have to disassemble the crate and take the crate materials to the dump, which seems like it will be fairly time consuming, because the crate is assembled with very long staples that are challenging to remove without breaking the plywood and wood parts of the crate. The materials in the crate would be useful if the crate had been constructed with something other than really long heavy staples; the materials will be busted up pieces when I'm done.

Nick's doors are of high quality solid …

Nick's doors are of high quality solid wood construction. They are delivered intact and ready for installation. Customer service is excellent. I have ordered entry doors and interior doors from them and not once was I disappointed. Their quality stands out.

Outstanding Service from Sales to Delivery

Overall customer service from Sales, through order processing, to shipping were all fantastic. Communication was excellent!!

Once the product arrived the crating was excellent and protected the door during transportation. The product quality is great making the finish and installation of the door go very smoothly.

Purchasing from Nick's Building Supply …

Purchasing from Nick's Building Supply was great! We needed 6 interior doors for our new home. The big box store could not even come close to the price, let alone quality of Nick's. We bought the 3-Panel shaker in oak. They arrived on time, in perfect condition and we could not be more pleased. Customer service was also exceptional, especially Liz.

Bought front door

Bought front door, sent incorrect door jamb. Nick's attitude was THEY NEVER make mistakes. I had to send photos showing measurements and ship door jamb back 6'' x 8' to possibly receive replacement. I went to a local mill ordered correct jamb and made sure to TELL OTHERS NOT TO ORDER FROM NICK'S. So far I know of 2 that went some where else.

Great product but bad phone support

We were very pleased with our door purchase - a great product at a price that was half of what the local millwork contractors were quoting. However, the experience was marred by a customer service rep who was rude and could not provide any information.
Two weeks after we ordered the door, I called to ask about the delivery schedule so we could coordinate the installation with our general contractor. The CSR was unable to provide any thing beyond the "4-6 weeks" quoted on the website. Sure enough, 6 weeks after we placed the order, we got the shipping notification - but nothing in between to give us a clue about the production schedule.
I think the company has a excellent product at a great price - but customers expect more granular information than, "we'll get to it when it's your turn!" It's a small investment in fixing an otherwise outstanding experience.

Ordered 14 interior doors for a renovation project. Fantastic quality. Arrived as expected, very well packed. The staff were helpful. Would use them again in the future.

Excellent mahogany doors

Excellent mahogany doors, perfect machining. Ordered 10 6 panel with jambs. Crate job is rock solid to protect doors. We used the crate wood for other things its so good. James.

Bad Quality Product and a Rude and Hostile Customer Service

The product was crated correctly and all parts were delivered. No damage at all. However, once the door was installed, a fabrication flaw was discovered. The oval glass was installed from the interior side and the molding securing the oval glass in place was installed on the interior side of door making it easier for anyone break into the house. This has nothing to do with warranty work. It is bad QA and bad workmanship by Nick's Building. It appears that no one inspected the door during the manufacturing process and before it was shipped to its final destination.

All work stopped immediately once the flaw was noticed and Nick's Building was contacted. Initially, Andy from the plant floor opted to ship just the oval molding, but Mike S at Nicks Building opted to replace the slab instead and went on to say that he would discuss with upper management the reimbursement for the additional contractor charges to finish and install the new door replacing the bad door.

Mike S, the customer service and production manager, stated that the decision had been made to not reimburse for the additional cost to be incurred to install the new door since the bad door was already finished and installed. He stated that once I opened the crate and proceeded to finish and install the door, the door could not be returned. Again, this was not a warranty issue but a QA issue. When I asked to speak to his manager, he became rude and hostile. He stated he was the last and only person I could and would be speaking with about the complaint so I hung up.

I placed a return call to speak with the customer service person who took my original order to see if I could speak to someone else, but a person by the name of Jeff answered. This was the first and only time I had ever spoken to Jeff. He stated that he and Mike S just discussed my complaint. Jeff stated that they were going to do nothing else since I got a free replacement door. Jeff told me to forget about the complaint and not to call back. He went on the ask me if I wanted him to wet my wick for free also.

This was by far the worst consumer experience I have ever experienced. All I was asking for was aid to cover the additional costs incurred due the door being fabricated incorrectly. There is no such thing as customer service with this company based upon my experience.

To Lou Pitzel, VP of Nick's Building Supply, I believe it would be in Nick's Building's best interest to get rid of Mike S and Jeff and improve customer service. The contractors that are installing the doors in my house will never be ordering or installing doors from Nick's Building again.

I am a repeat customer

This is the second time that I have purchased from Nicks Building Supply. Each time I have been impressed with the quality of their doors and I haven't had any issues with shipping damage or missing items. Would recommend them to my friends or acquaintances!
