Just perfect

From start to finish the purchase of this watch has been a pleasure. I'll start not with the watch, but with the owner of the company, Peter. Having measured my wrist (incorrectly as it turned out), I emailed Nomadic to ask if the bracelet would be large enough to fit my wrist. It wasn't, so Peter said he would not only add extra links free of charge, but would adjust the strap to the exact measurement I had specified.

With that resolved I had to bite the bullet and order the watch. Now, for around six months I have been searching for my first ever, and probably only ever, really classy watch. I was sorely tempted by a TAG Aquaracer, but then, after looking at literally tens of thousands of watches, I stumbled across Nomadic. I looked at the watch and the 401 Marai leapt off the page at me. It looked truly beautiful.

Not being impulsive I went to the reviews and realised that Peter had, in this watch, created a timepiece which would not be out of place sitting alongside watches two or three times the price. This was a one off purchase for me, and the unit was more important than the price. To find this and compare it against the others on my shortlist was joyful. My shortlist comprised the TAG Aquaracer, a Breitling, an Omega and a Tudor. There was something about the Nomadic that kept pulling me back to it and so it was I took the plunge.

My watch duly arrived. No fancy box, but a very practical canvas fold up case comprising the watch, two tools for adding or removing links, a cellophane resealable bag with an extra link, glue and instructions on changing links and finally a notebook. Disappointment immediately struck as the strap I'd asked to be enlarged was far too big - my fault! Another email to Peter and I was assured there would be no breach of warranty having it adjusted at a jewellers.

At last I had the watch properly on my wrist. I set the time and worked out the screw-in crown, something alien to me in previous watches I'd owned. Then started my owner's experience. I now understand what people mean when they state a watch "wears nicely." This really does. It oozes quality, punching far above its weight. It sits beautifully on the wrist, is a perfect weight, the face and bezel are stunning, and the yellow second hand sweeps effortlessly around the face, almost hypnotic in its smooth movement. I love this watch. I have no doubt whatsoever that it is every bit as good, if not better than others on my shortlist.

Would I change it at all?
To be incredibly fussy I might, but then I'd probably rather these be incorporated into another watch in the range. I think having the date only in numbers at 6 o'clock would keep the watchface balanced whilst adding a useful feature. Also it seems to me there is space for one or two more holes of microadjustment on the clasp which would be useful for me. Those two ultra-critical things aside, I really don't think I would change anything. The brushed steel contrasts perfectly with the beautifully designed face. The hands glow right through the night making telling the time easy, an experience which would be emulated if used for diving.

Peter, you and your team at Nomadic have worked wonders with this watch. It is truly beautiful, markings are clear, branding is subtle but present on the face, crown and bracelet clasp. You have a very happy customer here. Your customer service is absolutely outstanding and I feel safe in the knowledge that in the unlikely event there is a problem with it, you will resolve it without quibbling.

Thank you for making owning a real quality watch so affordable and such a massive pleasure.

Five stars for Nomadic and Pete

Five stars for Nomadic and Pete.

A super looking watch. I have a Rolex Oyster with the Green dial (because I’m Irish). However, I wanted something a bit more everyday. When I saw the green bezel Nomadic Maria 401 it ticked my boxes. Swiss precision with an Irish spin.

The watch is getting some great reviews and rightly so.

Great craftsmanship and the service from Pete and his team is the best you can get.

All you could want and great value for money!

I have been looking for a good quality divers watch for a while and was introduced to the Nomadic by a friend who already had one. I was immediately blown away by the quality, the detail and the obvious care and attention invested in it’s design. The affordability was just the “icing on the cake”. The hardest part of this purchase was deciding on which colour! I bought the black one and am totally delighted with it.

I love my blue Nomadic Marai 401 and…

I love my blue Nomadic Marai 401 and that it is an homage to the great Belfast shipbuilder, Harland & Wolff, and its build number 401, RMS Titanic. This luxury watch has an honored place in my watch collection.

Great watch - quality micro brand!

Great watch. Have a Tudor BB58 and always wanted a blue but couldn’t justify the price. This watch it probably punching above it’s weight class in terms of quality and attention to detail. For $1000 I have virtually no gripes. It’s now my go-to summer watch! Great team too. Very helpful and friendly!

Unbelievable Quality and Beauty!

Be prepared to have your mind blown.

Incredible craftsmanship, beautiful materials and a highlight of my collection. I collect Omega and Rolex with a sprinkling of micro-brand watches, so come very picky about watches. I saw a pic of the Dark Atlantic Emerald and was immediately interested. Peter answered all my questions promptly and I had no doubt in my mind that this was a watch for me. In my opinion it is the quality and beauty of a $3,500+ watch with a much more friendly price tag. Since it landed, it has not come off my wrist. The boys in Belfast have made an incredible time piece that I would recommend to anyone!

Excellent!

This watch is a serious contender in the sub £1000 diver section. Great movement, super slim, a ceramic bezel that I can't stop turning, and lume so bright I could use it as a torch. Bravo, and I look forward to your next outing.

Bought a Marai 401 from Nomadic

Bought a Marai 401 from Nomadic.
From start to finish the process was as good as anyone could ask for. When I received the watch I was pleasantly surprised. I had my expectations for this price point, but by far the watch exceeded these. Quality far in excess of the cost.
I also asked a subsequent question regarding the movement (nothing negative) and this was answered promptly and fully.
Overall I could not ask for anymore. I would have no qualms about buying again from Nomadic.
Thank you

A great buying experience

It was a great experience buying my first microbrand watch. Wrote back and forth with Peter, the founder, who was great help finding the right piece. They even offered to size the bracelet before the very quick shipping. Very satisfied.

Wow Just Wow!!!

I was in the pursuit of a new piece which could be my daily and upon coming across Maraí 401 from Nomadic I was instantly drawn to it and wanted to add it to my collection.

However little did I know that I would be so amazed with it. When seeing the watch for the first time I was beyond impressed how beautiful it was not to mention it's fit and quality finish it has. Nomadic has a winner with the Marai 401 in my books and I'm certainly looking forward to see what future watches it releases!

Nomadic Marai 401 - Quality watch

The Nomadic Marai 401 is a quality watch, well constructed and oozes style. I have a Tudor Pelagos and for the price point, the Nomadic Marai 401 is a very acceptable alternative. I very much like the tool roll that came with it and the ability to add the extra links. Very often on micro brands the straps let them down and are impossible to remove/add links. Not with the Nomadic Marai 401 though. Altogether, a quality product.

What an absolute delight…

I’m a man with many watches but the Maraí 401 from Nomadic is the perfect compliment. Steeped in backstory and meaning, with personal significance, the Black and Gold watch has quickly become my favourite. The packaging doesn’t let it down and the handwritten card enclosed delivers an attention to detail Nomadic can be truly proud of!
