Dorothy - Thank you so much for coming down with Nancy and the whole crew. Capt. Jake and Capt. Jeff really enjoyed their time on the water with you and could not speak more highly of your team, the attitude you all have on and off the water! Talk about a fun week!

We hope you come back and visit our other location in Boqueron sometime soon! Better yet, you all should come together.

Thank you again for the support and kind words. We could not do it without guests such as yourself.

Great fishing and service from No Name Lodge

I fished with Captain Andrew on March 16th, 2026 out of Boqueron and had a very good day. Andrew is super knowledgeable, very friendly, and worked hard to keep us on fish all day. He really know how to handle the skiff—-from poling to motoring through chop, he’s an expert. The staff at No Name were also very accommodating to me as I came to them with a late request for a fishing day. I’m impressed they made it happen and am forever grateful to them. I’d highly recommend their services and will definitely try to fish with them again. The area is beautiful, there are a ton of fish, and the captains know their stuff. Just don’t trout-set and remember to bow to the king!

First class lodge + fishing

I was down at NNL in August of 2025 just after a hurricane rolled through. Once the weather stabilized the fishing was simply incredible. There are plenty of tarpon around ranging from micros up to 50+lbs or so but what has me going back this year is the tailing permit. Not many places with coral rubble flats where they tail their faces off. HIghly recommend for anyone who likes to permit & tarpon fish. Accomdations at the lodge are great and the vibe is super fun and laid back. Strong guide team running Maverick skiffs which is a huge plus vs. fishing out of pangas at most other lodges. Cooper and the admin team are first class and will take care of you - so in short - I am going back and will keep going back!

Spent one day with an excellent guide, Evan, hunting for tarpon--my first time. Evan was expert at locating fish everywhere, in particular along the edges of mangroves. Got into a number of tarpon. A wonderful experience worth every penny.

Kudos to this group for being brave and providing a new (to me anyway) lodge experience. At the risk of being viewed as a people-hater, it’s a nice change of pace not bumping into a housekeeper, bartender, cook or server on the premises.

What the place lacks in service more than makes up for in the fishing. Tons and tons of fun-sized tarpon that will never refuse a fly due to being harassed a dozen times in the past five days. It’s just because they didn’t see it or just aren’t into your offering.

The permit are challenging but plentiful enough that you’ll get used to seeing trophy sized fish by midweek. There aren’t many dinner-plate sized palometa’s here!

It seems that fishery is evolving nicely with a group of guides that is really starting to understand the permit fishery. And that’s not easy to do when packs of tarpon are so available and willing!

I can’t wait to come back in ‘26!

Hey John,

Thanks a ton for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful (and hilarious) review. We got a real kick out of it, and couldn't agree more with your take on what makes NNL different.

It’s definitely not your typical lodge. No turn-down service, no mojitos on demand... just a handful of scrappy, salty guides and an absurd number of willing tarpon. Like you said, fun-sized fish that seem willing to stay in the game even when our hand has already been shown ha! And the permit? They're humbling, but they’re there, and the team’s getting better at cracking that code every season.

We’re honored you gave us a shot, and even more stoked to have you coming back in ‘26. The skiff will be waiting—and so will the fish.

Nicer accommodations would be a good improvement. Lunch was terrible! Every day same lunch that might be convenient however not what customers are used to! Breakfast was fine however no juice! On a positive note the fishing was very good. The skiffs make it dangerous in 2- 4 feet waves and very uncomfortable. Very good fishing guides.

Hey Bill,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're really glad to hear you enjoyed the fishing and had a positive experience with our guides—they’re passionate about what they do, and it means a lot to know that came through. Our number one priority will always be to ensure our guests get on the fish, as NNL is an alternative lodge built by fishermen for fishermen.

Your visit was to our new fishery in Salinas, which is still in development. This program offers access to incredible, untouched water—but as you noted, some parts of the experience are still being refined. Your comments about the lunches, breakfast options, and accommodations are all well taken.

As for the skiff experience, we completely understand your concern. That particular week brought unusually high wind conditions, and we know that navigating 2–4 foot waves in flats skiffs can be challenging and less comfortable. That said, we utilize Maverick skiffs by design—so our guests can fish from true technical poling skiffs instead of high-sided pangas. There are always trade-offs when it comes to boat design, but we prioritize the ability to sight fish quietly and effectively in shallow water.

We appreciate you being part of our journey in Salinas, and we hope to welcome you back again—whether to a more polished version of Salinas or to our flagship lodge in Boquerón.

All the best,
Cooper

This is an incredible fishery

This is an incredible fishery. The vast amount of baitfish make for a lot of tarpon as well as other species. The permit fishery does not seem to be well understood. Accommodations were good but basic, nearby restaurants were just ok. I signed on to use lodge rods and reels which didn’t get conveyed to the guides, but they scrambled and I had decent equipment. There seems to be a lot of area as yet unexplored. Boats were good, but the guides were outstanding.

Hey David,
Greetings from the NNL Crew.

Thank you for making the trip down with Jon Y’s group and for taking the time to leave a great review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the fishery and had positive interactions with our guides—they’re truly the heart of what we do.

Permit are among the most difficult species to pattern anywhere in the world, but after years of dedicated scouting, logging, and observing the tides and moon phases, we’re proud of the deep knowledge we’ve built of this unique fishery. While they can be elusive and lets be blunt a**holes, that's part of what draws dedicated permit anglers to Puerto Rico. We always want to give anglers the best possible shot at landing a PR permit of a lifetime.

Our apologies for any mix-up on gear. Communication around lodge gear is always handled pre-arrival, but for security and maintenance purposes, we store all equipment off-site at the guide house. Our standard loaner setup includes Hardy Marksman V rods and Hardy reels—top-quality gear we’re proud to offer at no cost to our clients.

We’re constantly refining and growing, and feedback like yours helps us get better. Thanks again for fishing with us—we’d love the chance to host you again and show you even more of what Puerto Rico has to offer. Let's go explore some unexplored waters!

The No Name Team

Wonderful Tarpon Fishing Lodge Experience

Our group of six anglers, ranging from novice to experienced, all enjoyed an excellent time at No Name Lodge. The guides were eager to make our time on their boats enjoyable, sharing their knowledge, giving helpful and patient assistance, all the while adding good humor. Truely professional. everyone in our group successfully landed tarpon throughout the week with other species mixed in (snook, snapper, and almost a permit!). The lodge was very comfortable and dinners at the various walkable restaurants in town were all excellent, economical, and provided an excellent feel to the culture of the island. No Name Lodge succeed in all aspects, and everyone in our group is ready to return. Thank you Cooper and Matt for offering such a well-run operation with attention to all the details to ensure a wonderful experience for your guests.

Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful review! It means the world to us that your entire group had a great experience—from the fishing action and variety of species to the vibe of the town and the hospitality at the lodge.

We’re especially happy to hear that the guides made the week memorable for anglers of all experience levels. That’s what it’s all about—good times on the water, shared stories, and a few hard-earned fish along the way (we’ll get that permit next time!).

We appreciate you choosing No Name Lodge and can’t wait to welcome you all back. Until then—tight lines and safe travels!
