I replaced my Trane HVAC unit with a Daikin and it was a big mistake.
The unit was installed on Nov. 4, 2024 and here is what I have experienced since:
2 days after installation heat pump began making significant noise when it started up
heat pump and lines to the indoor unit vibrated excessively hearing it throughout the house
contractor was called and came out and determined the compressor was faulty
outdoor heat pump was replaced with a new unit
3 days later the same issue occurred, excessive banging noise when starting up and more vibration
house was not heating up normally, took over 3 hours to get room temp correct
Auxiliary Heat coming on at random times and often when temp was higher than set temperature for cut on
called contractor and they determined that the heat pump and aux heat were in competition and that a Bill Porter board need to be installed
after Bill Porter board installation, heat pump still making significant banging when starting and stopping. Heat pump still not heating the house sufficiently
heat pump quit running, had to rely on Aux Heat to heat the house
contractor arrived again with supervisor and replace thermostat and determined heat pump start-up noise too excessive still
contractor supervisor suggested replacing unit with a Daikin Fit
problems with my HVAC unit continued until 28 days later with contractor supervisor and 2 Daikin representatives arrived to look at my system, determined start-up noise excessive and decided to place a unit in heat pump that would provide a “soft start” rather than a hard start. Was told it would be replace in a week and Daikin would come out again to check unit.
got error message on my t-stat that Aux Heat was coming on when it was not supposed to. Should come on when temp is 35 or below and was coming on at 40 and above.
3 weeks later and part has not been replaced and no follow-up from Daikin
5 1/2 months since installation and still not running right.
REPLY TO DAIKIN'S RESPONSE:
I did go to North American Daikin website first to issue complaint about heat pump not working correctly for 5 months and the reply I got was that it was not their problem. That I should contract my HVAC contractor which I have done repeatedly and they are as perplexed as to why the Daikin product is not working and they can't get parts from Daikin to patch up this issue. I have even had 2 Daikin reps to my home and the issue still persists. Also, the link given in Diakin's response to this complaint is where I went first and got the "we're not responsible" reply.
