Such a fabulous company! I originally booked an older car, and was a bit concerned about it, so I reached out to Northbound. They quickly found me a brand new vehicle and even matched the price! 10 out of 10 would recommend this company.

Northbound is a very reliable company. I have enjoyed its prompt and friendly service with excellent car condition. Toyota RAV4 is sturdy in dynamic Icelandic weather and very responsive to challenging road conditions. It has strong horsepower and an excellent break to drive uphill and snake roads very safely. Without the reliable service of Northbound and Toyota RAV4, My 17 days of Ring Road journey would have been miserable. Northbound and Toyota RAV4 will be my choice again in the next Iceland trip.

Everything about the rental was amazing. We arrived earlier than expected and they arranged getting the car early for us. The staff were really friendly and was very good service. Would hire a car from Lava Car again.

Our Kia Ceed was excellent for our trip around the Ring Road. The pick up from the airport and transfer back (at 4am!) all went smoothly. The car was in great condition and really clean.

Our experience with northbound and Lava cars has been perfect. The airport pickup was prompt and after a very short drive (less than 5 minutes) to the car rental site, the Lava team were very helpful. The staff were friendly and gave us a very warm welcome to Iceland. The car itself was spacious and well-equipped, with all of the kitchen utensils that we needed to make 3 meals a day easily. Though we brought a small bottle of washing up liquid with us (as previous reviews mentioned that this was not provided by Lava), all campsites have this on site so it wasn't necessary. The Lava team checked in with us during our trip to offer helpful advice about safe travel around Iceland. The return was also very convieniant for us. Since our flight was very early, we returned our car directly to the airport, where staff picked it up from. I would highly recommend this company!

All right. Efficient and precise

I have often said that the true measure of a company is how they handle a problem - and when a representative contacts you at 8pm on a Sunday night to say “Problem solved!” I’d have to give Northbound/MyCar top marks.
Issue was that I had rented the car with a 20% discount, but somehow that discount was not applied when we picked up the car and I was billed. Over billing refunded, happy ending.

Bu using Northbound I found a car through MyCar Rentals (in Iceland) which was almost third of the prize from other rentals I had found on my own, and that saved me a lot of money. Excellent car and the service from the rental was really good.

Getting a 4 year old car ended up being a great decision. That car had a few scratches and dents, but they weren’t picky that the car had to be perfect on return. The diesel got great fuel mileage and this is important in a place where fuel is expensive. Saved so much money over getting a guided tour. Highly recommend getting the wifi hotspot and if you have American Express, see if that covers your insurance. They were a bit slow pickups up from airport and took an hour to get car ready. Overall a great experience and excellent value for the money.

Northbound were extremely efficient, and considerate. These are strange times to be traveling, and my plans changed a couple of times, Nothing was too much trouble and all went very smoothly. The car hire company upgraded us, which is always nice.

Very easy booking, extremly flexible even after several changes of rental dates. Car was as described and runs without any problems during the three weeks. Highly advisabe!
