The name "NovelKeys" actually came from my wife. I was showing her the keycap set called "SA Camping." In this set of keycaps, there were a couple unique keycaps - one was a mountain silhouette, the other was of a little campfire. These special keyc...

Good experience!

I bought "B-Stock" (AKA reject keycaps) which normally retailed for 375 dollars but novel keys was offering them for only 125 dollars but stated NO REFUNDS and there was a chance there would be cosmetic defects and or completely unusable keys due to manufacturer errors... It was a risk - but I was completely surprised by the keys I received. The ONLY cosmetic issue I could find was perhaps one key having a slightly different shade than the other keys and you don't even notice it unless looking for it. Anyways I just figured I'd leave a good review here because I can't leave one on their website. Also to be clear these are a full set of CNC aluminum keycaps with 3 different colorways so realistically charging anything less than 200 is probably selling at a loss. Anyways - thanks again novelkeys. - EDIT: Oh and if anyone cares, I paid for economy shipping. This is an east coast company and I'm on west coast. It only took 2 business days to receive so they get more points for that as well!

dont buy from their website

dont buy from their website, their boards are fake cheap dirt cheap. my pcb died not even 30 months, working a day before it broke, unplugged it because I wanted to dust of my desk, replugged it and said that there was too much power on the USB. i have built several expensive keyboards. as said I know their customer service will just blame it on me and I need to buy a new "PCB" which is impossible because there's no way a PCb will just die like that unless I spilled liquid on it but I keep my food away from my desk where I eat on another desk. I am just straight up disputing it since other reviews said that its just a straight waste of time.

Bought a product on clearance and am super frustrated with the quality of it. I feel like their customer service and helpfulness is seriously lacking, as is their wanting customers to be satisfied. Won't buy from them again.

Terrible and rude customer service

Terrible and rude customer service. Always late with fulfillment, there's always some kind of delay. Slow shipping speed. Order got canceled for no reason.

Stay away from this place! It's a SCAM!

Very Unpleasant Experience

Very Unpleasant Experience. I have order a product and paid for the most expensive shipping to make sure i will receive it within 2 day like it specified on the website. But when reached out to a customer support they told that their processing time is 7 days.

Ordered an item in Sept 2020 to be delivered Dec 2020. The date came and went with 0 communication. I emailed the company and did not receive a response. By the time the item was due it was past chargeback time, so I was screwed. I wrote it off. Come August 2021 I got the item in the mail. Again, I had received ZERO communication from the company. It was a simple neoprene deskmat and it was of awful quality. How hard is that to screw up? Hard. They managed. Nothing I can do at this point. 8 months later and horrid quality and no communication. Just steer clear of these shitlords.

Great if you don't have any issues. Awful if you have issues

I've ordered in the past from NovelKeys, and it's been great. The problem I had was when I ordered their keyboard kit, and the board arrived with issues.

I contacted them, and they immediately insinuated that it was my fault for breaking the board. I contacted them more explaining myself that I've built several different hot swap boards before and I was careful with the board. I even followed their online video to install the board and they had me take a bunch of pictures and videos. They eventually found the culprit and basically told me "here's how to fix it" which I have no idea how to fix a PCB. If I did, I wouldn't even reach out and fix it myself to save the trouble. Then they told me to wait for new PCB's to arrive so I can order one, again saying it was my fault. This made me feel that all that help, e-mailing pictures back and forth, videos, was just to cover their own self, but not really there to help me.

I voiced my frustration in another e-mail, and they told me that there was 'No Way' it can come defective from the factory like that. Because their factories are perfect. Even then, this brings up the question of QA. Like they don't even check their boards before it reaches the consumer.

I reached out to some mechanical keyboard enthusiasts to see if they can repair the board. It may cost me more than a brand new PCB, but I was already done with the company, and was willing to pay a little more to have some one repair the board than to give them my business again.

The cost of a new board isn't that much. But for them to place the blame on the buyer, that just doesn't sit right with me. I decided to do a dispute with my credit card company since they wouldn't even try to repair the board themselves and just told me to take care of it. Either buy a new PCB from them, or get it repaired. Everything is my fault. Now if I was rough with the board, or if I did something outside of what's reasonable to install the keyboard and break it, okay. I'll take blame. I'll wait and buy the new board because I obviously broke it. My fault. I'll own up to it. But the way they handled this is unprofessional. Placing the blame on your customers reflects pretty poorly on the business. When things are going good, they get 5 stars. They ship your product in good time, and you receive the product without any issue. Sure, but that's the bare minimum of what a business should do: what they're in business for. Selling products, and making sure the products reaches their customers. But when things go wrong, this is really where these ratings come in handy, and it tells the consumer how they really operate.

Shortly after, I won the dispute. And what they did right after tells me that they cannot be trusted what so ever. They cancelled my group buy pre-order that I have placed last October of 2020 on a keycap set that's planning to be shipped Holiday 2021. I didn't ask them to cancel the order. They just did it. One can ONLY assume because they're upset that they have lost the dispute. This makes me feel like they're trying to indirectly tell me "If you don't admit you're wrong, we're going to take away your pre-order that you've paid us and have waited 8 months for already". Well they did. That's a very unprofessional move and it seems that if any other issue arise, not only will you be blamed, but they will punish you for calling them out. I was hoping I can continue ordering products from their website (I'll just stay away from anything with circuitry) but now how can I trust them when they can do what they want to your order when one has nothing to do with the other issue.

Trustworthy

Very trustworthy. Got my item in a decent amount of time. I think their shipping times have slowed down because of COVID. I paid through paypal so I never got a shipping confirmation, but everything came through great and packaged safely for shipping.

Very nice overall

Fast shipping and cheap prices. The only thing you need to worry about is items being out of stock, which they have an inventory page to let you know when they expect to restock. That or you could sign up for email notifications for it to be back in stock
