Avoid NUMBER 1 MOVERS at all cost.

Avoid NUMBER 1 MOVERS at all cost.
I booked my pickup from Regina to Ottawa in April for the move I planned at the end of June. They told me they will let me know the exact pickup date 2 weeks prior to the move date but they were not able to give me this date until June 25 to pick-up on June 30. Without getting into details, they are not reliable, not organized, they don’t communicate or tell you basic things unless you call them multiple times, you have to call them multiple times to pull-out basic information for your move.
They picked up my items on June 30 and it took them more than 2 weeks to deliver it to Ottawa. After so many phone calls and frustrations, so many false promises they delivered my items after two weeks of the pick-up date. The worst thing is, they delivered my dining table and chairs but forgot the deliver the dining table legs. They also failed to deliver other items along with the dining table legs because they mixed these items with other customer’s items. It took them a week to find these items in their warehouse. The second worst thing they kept telling me they will send my items when they find a truck comes towards Ottawa, this false promise went on and on for a while, so I decided to ship a couple of my items using UPS. I had to pay UPS $103 to ship the dining table legs and a sound bar because I needed these items immediately. It has been one month and 2 weeks now and I have not received my items they failed to deliver. They are also not willing to reimburse me for the UPS shipping I paid only because they failed to do their job properly.
This company does not care about their customers, they only care about the money they make out of you, they sound like they care and make you believe they actually do their job properly but don’t get fooled and DO NOT USE NUMBER 1 MOVERS. There are other companies that know what they do and actually care about their customers. The only positive thing from this move was, the driver who picked up my items was professional and polite, tried his best to help. Other than that, everything was frustration and headache.

Moving Company scam!

Do not deal with this company under any circumstances! They are a scammers! Their website has fake reviews! Just try writing a negative review on their site as a test and see for yourself. Their quote went from $1,856 to around $5,200 and claims that a 1 bedroom apartment approx. weight went from around 1500 pounds to over 3300 pounds (with NO couch/sofa, no boxspring, no kitchen table or chairs) After having communicated with around a dozen potential movers and quotes either via email/phone, I finally decided to go with these guys. They were definitely not the cheapest and nor the most expensive either, but seemed reputable. The rate was a little higher than what I initially wanted to pay, but after having communicated with their representative, along with their reviews, it seemed they were the ones to go with and I was assured the rate would not change. I sent in the inventory list based on their own rate sheet and weight and was well under the 1500 minimum (according to their criteria) I didn't initially go with them until a week or two later after receiving another follow-up call from Andrew and then receiving a further discount due to the fact that the move itself was for my senior mother of 75 and I didn't want any surprises. For the most part, everything went fairly smoothly and the movers showed up at the right time and it only took about an hour to load things up as I had everything disassembled, packed and ready to go! I even helped out with a few items along with helping to wrap some things in order to get them on their way. didn't check the invoice later as it was supposed to be 50% of the balance (after the initial $300 deposit paid) but, after having received a call from Vince at Number 1 movers, and reviewing the invoice, the price went from $1,854 to over $4,923 and showed things like a stair fees, long walk fees, pick and drop off shuttle, along with other ridiculous charges! There were NO stairs at all and it was definitely not a long walk. The movers (contracted out by Number 1) were out in just over an hour with a total of 41 items counted for a 1 bedroom apartment with NO sofa, kitchen table etc. The itemized list was based on their own estimate and even came in well under the minimum 1500 pounds they required as a charge. I've heard of many issues with movers, but I went with these guys specifically due to their reputation and that they were a member of the BBB along with assurances there would be NO hidden surprises. Needless to say, this was a shock to me! At this point, I would just rather they keep everything as I don't have the money to pay this and will never deal with a company who operates under these types of conditions. I am definitely NOT recommending these movers to anyone...be aware! I will also be writing other reviews in addition to contacting the BBB. As I am a Provincial Government employee, I find this type of action to be absolutely absurd and will do everything I can to ensure these things do not happen to others! I will be contacting CBC Marketplace in addition to filing a complaint with the BBB. In addition to this under the FOI act, I've requested a transcript from them regarding ALL calls. One can understand minor changes in rates (few hundred $$$'s) but not almost triple!! It's rather strange that the reviews on their own site are so high, but when you try write a bad review, it won't allow you to do so! This is a good indication of a company who's trying t scam you!
