I work in R&D, so only ever order parts for product development, not production. In this context, the large stock of parts Ex Sydney gives E14 a considerable time and shipping cost advantage over their competition (Excluding RS, whom I don't consider direct competition for electronics product development).

Access to platinum pricing online is useful for design in, as it gives a much faster indication of volume pricing and removes the hassle of working so closely with non-online distributors; if the price is right, R&D just load E14 as a production supplier.

The website is pretty responsive, filters effective etc.

Never had a parcel lost. Always able to speak with someone over the phone if/when needed. Never had an order error. Never had parts arrive damaged. Very reliable supplier.

Time difference between NZ/Australia is advantageous, as orders can be placed late in the day (NZ time) and still be processed for next day delivery.

Element 14 are not always the cheapest but they have a huge range, fast delivery, and are helpful when I have called up about things.

Ordering parts from Element 14 is a breeze. They have a easy to use website and a pretty good search function when looking for some obscure part.

Also only being charged when the parts a sent makes it easier to do the financial paperwork.

Good to deal with. Except for supply of a fan that did not comply with stated specification. But the did easily accept the item back for return

1) The item was shown in stock for next day delivery but when i placed the order it didn't show up. When I called I found out it was ex UK.

2) I never actually received the part, I received a package that was for another company in Taranaki.

3) After two phone calls to find out what is happening, I was promised a refund the second time within 24 hours.

4) After not receiving the refund, I called again and was told that it would now be March until my refund is processed.

Every part that we need (we almost never need to look elsewhere) and they ship super fast.. never need to call to chase anything up and orders are always correct. Simple.. fast.. and comprehensive.

Goods arrived on time as ordered, consolidated into one order as requested. Fortunately I needed enough this time to qualify for free delivery.

Good range of products and good service

Searching for items can be a bit confusing unless you know exactly what you want, but once found, the online ordering and payment system is easy. Notifications of order progress works fine, and payment is not deducted until the order is dispatched. Good if stuff is on backorder.

One annoyance- when a a back-ordered item becomes available, you have to call and reconfirm the CC details. Would be better to process on the original order authorization.

I am very happy with service of Element14 but as a customer we also consider price and lead time. It is better if we can always have 1 day lead time delivery :)

Often has components/brands others don't which is really useful, especially in my professional life where we are required to service equipment from many parts of the world.

Shipping times are good.

Costs are reasonable and the specials are often very good.

I use Element 14 both personally and professionally for work.

Website stated stock was available when it wasn't
When order remained in limbo it took forever to get an appropriate answer
Stock arrival was continually pushed out until we had to cancel order.
Through lack of answering emails or feedback nothing happened until I managed to get hold of person.
It was then forgotten and I had to make contact several times to get credit

Good that they contacted me to offer a monthly credit account. This company is known for quick efficient service and delivery. On the not so good side, they offered a $25 voucher if I spent $149 that very day. As I only order components when needed, and I was not directly working on a project at the time, I felt it was too much pressure to look on their website and choose something I don't really need. So I decided to miss it. It would be better if they made the offer for a longer, and more realistic time, say one week.

Element14 provides a user friendly web interface and delivery is generally overnight from Australia to New Zealand.

Element14 has a huge selection of products and components, for the most part at competitive prices. Delivery is extremely quick, though the shipping cost for small orders (<$50 for Australia/New Zealand) is a little steep for hobbyists (I assume this is in place to reduce overhead from many tiny orders, which is fair enough, but it would be nice if the base shipping cost was lower).

Overall, Element14 is an ideal place to shop If you have a specific bill of materials and want your parts delivered quickly.

Good range, good customer service, only issue is freight charges to NZ

I'm impressed with the wide range of products and particularly impressed with the speed of delivery, especially since it is usually dispatched from Australia. An additional bonus is free delivery on orders over a minimum value.

We buy a lot of components and one of the places we go to more commonly is Element14. We also do a lot of quoting and to have the prices at the touch of a button is excellent for time saving.
The only problem I have found with Element14 is how slow the pages refresh on the website compared to other suppliers. Element14 has to be one of the slowest, I can search for the same product on 2 other supplier websites before the Element14 page has found the part I am looking for. Other than that the prices are very good and they live up to the standard.

the website has heaps of info available, the search functions bring up multiple options and you can narrow down your requirements further. tick on some options and compare several all on the one page to quickly see what the differences are. the expected delivery is accurate as they show the stock level and how many days delay all on the screen. We don't get order mix ups. we can get items from element14 when the actual agents in NZ have delays or no stock.
