Probably the worst customer experience…

Probably the worst customer experience I've ever had, and I've lived in several countries, including New Zealand. I only wish I'd checked Trustpilot before placing my order (the Google reviews seem far too good to be genuine).

It all started with their website, which was misleading about which items were actually in stock and which had to be ordered in. As a result, it calculated the shipping cost incorrectly. Since it was the weekend, I called them the following day to clarify the situation. I tried calling throughout the day, but nobody answered.

By that point, I had already decided I didn't want to deal with a company that was impossible to reach, so I sent a written request to cancel my order.

About a day later, someone finally replied, insisting that I had misunderstood everything. After a week of back-and-forth emails, they eventually admitted that the mistake was on their side. They offered free delivery and a discount, but by then I had completely lost confidence in the company and simply requested a full refund.

After more arguments, they agreed to refund me—but said they would deduct 15% as a "restocking fee". This was outrageous. I have reliable confirmation from Mainfreight that the goods never even left the retailer's warehouse, so there was nothing to restock. They ignored this evidence and insisted that deducting the fee was the only way they would process the refund.

In the end, after repeatedly chasing their customer service team, I finally received my money back - but only after 23 days.

An absolute nightmare from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this company.

I wish I had read these reviews before…

I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased my Walnut chest of drawers. They do market themselves as a NZ company, but they are clearly just a front for Chinese manufacturers of dubious quality. After sales service is atrocious. I had requested when I purchased to be given advance notice of delivery because the property was undergoing renovation. This did not happen, despite assurances in writing that it would. They sent a request for me to download a "Shop" app which I did, and it just said "No Delivery details" and still does to this day. There was one aborted delivery attempt where the delivery driver - who struggled with English - called my daughter who did not live at the property from outside the property - no advance notice - and then was going to leave the package on the public footpath outside the security gate, but seemed to say he would take it back. Then there were lots of requests to advise where the product was and assurances that advance notice would be given. My contractor even offered to pick it up himself - but these requests went unanswered. Then, today, my contractor came to check the property after the day's work and saw the package had actually been dumped on the public road side outside the security gate. No notice. Despite assurances. And the package had not a word in English on it. My contractor had to use Google translate to work out what it was. I have doubts on the quality. Clearly made in China and clearly not the quality New Zealand company the web-site makes itself out to be. AVOID.

Delivery timeframes are a joke

I ordered an item that was in stock which said 5-10 delivery, I hadn't received any communication over 2 weeks later so I emailed the company, they said they were having to get stock from their south island warehouse - a week later I had still received no communication so I emailed again, they then said they were waiting on a shipment - in the end it took over a month to deliver and multiple emails all ended with "thank you for your patience and understanding". Sometimes things happen but the appalling communication with this was a horrible experience, I felt like i'd been scammed and didn't expect the table to ever show up.

Alleged solid oak made in NZ lol

I purchased a shoe cabinet from this company based on the strong impression that they sell solid oak timber furniture manufactured in New Zealand. Unfortunately, my experience suggests this is not an accurate representation.

While the product arrived preassembled, the timber quality is very light and does not resemble what most people would reasonably expect from solid oak. In terms of weight, finish, and overall feel, it is far closer to flat-pack style furniture than premium hardwood.

More concerning was the shipping and packaging. The item was clearly shipped directly from China, with packaging covered in Chinese writing. This contradicts the expectation that the product is made in New Zealand and then shipped to Australia. Even the courier indicated that many retailers in this category are sourcing from the same overseas factories.

At a price point of around $1,000, I expected a genuinely solid, locally manufactured oak product. What I received does not align with that expectation in either origin or perceived quality. The value simply isn’t there for the price being charged.

There’s no denying it functions as a cabinet, but buyers should be aware:
this does not appear to be premium, New Zealand–made solid oak furniture.

In my view, the marketing creates a misleading impression, and customers should do thorough research before purchasing.

Would give zero stars if I could

Would give zero stars if I could. Ordered and paid for four bedside tables. Six weeks later am still getting the run around as to where they are. Received a tracking number 9 days ago but the freight company has advised they haven't got the goods from the supplier yet and also said they have loads of people ringing them about this supplier. DO NOT PURCHASE!
