Hygiene issues and rigid policies
I was a member at Oakley Fitness Tunbridge Wells and decided to cancel after several months of increasingly poor conditions in the gym. On my last few visits, the facility consistently had a mouldy smell, dirty equipment, mud on the mats, and teenagers vaping in the bathrooms. The bathroom areas also showed visible traces of mould. These issues were ongoing rather than one‑off occurrences.
I stopped using the gym for more than six weeks before submitting my cancellation request. Despite this, and despite the condition of the facilities, the gym insisted on charging an additional month because my notice was 25 days instead of 30. I found the process rigid and unhelpful, especially considering I had already not used the gym for a long period and had raised genuine concerns.
The equipment itself is fine when clean, but the overall maintenance and hygiene standards were below what I would expect from a 24/7 gym. The cancellation process is also unnecessarily difficult, with the option hidden at the bottom of the website.
I hope this review helps future customers make an informed decision.
