Autopopulates place of submission on OCI renewal even though people have moved in the years to passport renewal and then nobody knows how to change it. Insisting that you need to attend x country that you don’t live in for further payment and document checks.

This site looks and works like it was designed in year 2000, it randomly signs you out while you are still actively working in the application. It keeps throwing this error on half of my login attempts.."The specified URL is inaccessible at this time. Please try after some time" ..

The website is very hard to use and we used the oci renewal service but haven't heard anything back.It has been nearly 2 months with no update.

Poorly designed, poorly executed. They require all the information they already have.

Simple things are nearly impossible to find. It feels like 100 different people have worked on this while under the influence without once communicating.

It took some real skill and dedication to make something so confusing.

Worst website I have come across, a little better than its companion VFSglobal website used for mailing OCI documents. I get 'invalid error' when uploading documents, and cannot move FWD, tried 3 browsers, incognito mode etc, nothing worked, tried small file sizes for upload 250kb! yet wont work. Websites in early 1990s in USA worked much better! India claims its IT Super Power but cannot build a decent website!

The worst service I have even gotten, they rung up on me and when I called again told me to come back tomorrow.

The official website states that the photo should have a non-white background. However, at the VFS centre, only white background photos are accepted. This inconsistency causes unnecessary confusion and inconvenience for applicants. Many people arrive with photos that follow the website guidance, only to be told they are incorrect and must be retaken.

The instructions should be aligned across the website and VFS centres to prevent further issues for applicants. This results in people cursing the people who developed the website and the images present in the websites. May god save them.

I renewed my Australian passport and reapplied for my OCI in October. Despite more than ten weeks having passed, I have received no response or update. The lack of communication and excessive delay reflect extremely poor service. If there were an option to give zero stars—or to rate this as the worst possible service—I would select it without hesitation.

I recently heard PM Modi bragging about issuing OCI to sixth generation. Makes me wonder whether he thought that at sixth generation level, it is unlikely that the immediate predecessor would not have had verification of Indian origin. Did he think about the predecessors who were born in early 1900s without formal records of birth. The only verifying document was school attendance. In my case I started with my mother's passport which clearly stated person of Indian origin but was denied acceptance because the stamp was on British Subject passport. Even the High Commission refused to accept. So I obtained my father's school certificate and started the prescribed procedure by commissioning an advocate to obtain correct document. It took more than a year and thousands of rupees to feed the hungry advocate and judges to no result. Both wanted the matter to be prolonged so that their hungry stomachs could be kept well fed. After such frustration I gave up. It was sad to note that the Indian authorities declined to accept the stamp of Indian Origin on British Subject passport which also contained a stamp of surrender of previous passport pre independence.

Another current matter. I sent a package containing household item (not for commercial use or for sale) via a courier service. Mumbai Custom held over due to, 1. Slight discrepancy in address but with more than 95% match. 2. Because the package was addressed to the recipient's office address for convenience. I even emailed Chief Customs officer for assistance. Sadly my request fell on deaf ears - no response of any sort. I am now waiting for the courier company to retrieve the package.

Sad to see that PM Modi is failing to see how pathetic the root level of Indian system is. PM Modi is building big castles on rotting foundations!

This website keeps crashing, how does a website that works in the VISA department keep crashing??

The website doesn't load. There is no way we can upload the required documents in the new website. The communication is very poor.

Who cares, whom to say. It’s a shame for Indian government . Never changed, same experience whenever I try to access some service.

Waste of time, but you in need, so you have to go through this , doesn’t matter how many days you take, hours you spend.

Will it change ever? Does Modhiji knows there is a website like this available for clever Indians??

this website is absolutely rubbish it’s a nightmare to upload documents why can’t you improve jokers. Please focus on other things as well not only looting tax payers money Millions of people are using this stupid website

Worst ever website built by the great indian government engineers which is a shame.
The website is hopeless ,can't upload any documents. Spent ll my energy doing it..
I think this is one way of making us go to the paid service at consulate the centre to make money..

I have not seen such a badly designed website in 2024. The engineers behind it should feel ashamed that they are doing this with their life. They should hire a UI UX engineer and see how much struggle each person filling is going through. I am pretty sure that each and every person will be cursing the persons behind the website.

Very bad website, very hard to use

This review is purely about the website.

On a few attempts, I’ve tried amend Oci address. Uploading documents is a nightmare, and the layout is very poor.

Thousands of people have to use this website, so why can’t it be improved? Very shocked that in this day and age there are websites like this.

I called customer service about help and told him that the website is not working or coming back where i started or coming with error and his reply was shocking, he said LOOK FOR THIRD PARTY TO AAPPLY FOR OCI. So basically they want to increase productivity of third party now. What a shame.

I have only an option to put a minimum of 1 star, otherwise I will rate this website "0", What an utterly rubbish website, which I have ever deals with. Please do not waste your time sitting in front of this.
