Oncall are thieves

I have been a full time used car inspector for 26 years. I found On Call inspections online. I called them, they sounded legit and I added them to my client list. I performed 5 inspections over 2 weeks. Each time confirming client expectations were met and they were. They made many excuses over several weeks why they could not pay. I don't believe they ever intended to pay. I gave them time to pay over time, still not one dime. Stay away from Oncall, they are thieves.

I want to make others aware of my…

I want to make others aware of my recent experience with a company called OnCall Inspections (oncallinspections.com).

I paid them for a vehicle inspection service, but they never performed the inspection. Since then, they have stopped answering my calls and emails. After doing some research, I discovered that many other customers have reported the same thing — money taken, no service provided, and no refunds.

Please be careful and do not trust this company with your money. If you see their ads or website, think twice before booking anything.

I’m sharing this so others don’t get scammed the way I did.

BUYER BEWARE...DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!

I live in TX and purchased a vehicle from Oregon.
Paid for the classic vehicle service, and the inspector reported the vehicle was in very good condition, which was not an accurate report/statement in any way.
I took the vehicle to my mechanic, that I have been using for years, and trust with all my vehicles and have never had issues, to have a known AC issue repaired. I was expecting around $1500 - $2000 in AC repairs.
However, many other issues were found...now over a month and as half later and nearly $15k in necessary repairs just to get the vehicle to operational safety standards. Thankfully, because I have used my mechanic for so long, he's given me a break on a lot of the costs.
A few of the issues...
cracked frame...rear main seal and transmission leaking profusely...all four tires severely dry rotted...all belts were severely dry rotted and had to be replaced...brakes leaking fluid severely and needed to be replaced...suspension needed to be replaced...bolts clearly missing from the suspension that should have been holding it together...the leaf springs were held together with zip ties...the rear axle and seal were leaking severely and had to be repaired...the emergency brake non-operational...fuel pump non-functional...fan non-operational…fan shroud completely missing…fan clutch not working...gauges not working...the AC, that the inspector said "had all the parts and just needed to be charged" had nothing in place except a frozen compressor...everything else had to be found and installed...the power steering box is non-functional...and a few other items that are not mentioned.
So, my recommendation...DO NOT USE this service...RUN AWAY!!!

I suppose, he is the owner of this organization who called me. He started off very nicely. He asked me if he could record our conversation and if, "We could come to an agreement." I explained the situation and suggested that he might pay a portion of my repairs. He then began yelling at me that he "offer me nothing" and that "he was going to expose me for what I am, because I was calling him and demanding...payment or something...and that I should read my contract." He also stayed he was going to expose me online and publish my personal informationfor everyone to see.
I found this quite hilarious and amusing because he actuallly called me and asked me for what I proposed and how we could come to an agreement.
Again, I would highly recommend anyone STAY AWAY from this service.

WORTHLESS AND MISLEADING REPORT

Based on my experience with OnCall Inspection, OnCall is beyond useless, a total misleading waste of money.

Interested in a car located over a thousand miles from my home, I contracted for the Classic Inspection at a cost $289, plus follow-up phone call from the inspector for an additional $30.

After I received the inspection report, I waited a day for the call, then called OnCall to complain that I never received the call I’d paid for. OnCall responded that it would have the inspector call within twenty-four hours and, to compensate for my inconvenience, it would credit the cost of the call. I never received the call and there was no credit or billing reduction on my credit card statement. I called again to point out these issues and I was told to e-mail. Now, several weeks from submitting that e-mail, I have yet to receive a response.

Based on the written report, I went through with the purchase of the car. Beyond the lack of a phone call I paid for but never received, I found the following errors/omissions in that written report:

Plastic insert on front insignia above radiator grill cracked and partially missing. Not mentioned in report.

Dent and paint mar on passenger side rear door. Not mentioned in report.

Switch to control driver seat front up and down motion faulty. Not mentioned in report.

Three position map light switch (left on, both off, right on) fails in left map light on position. Not mentioned in report.

Cruise control Set/Reduce Speed button on steering wheel fails to set speed and seldom operates correctly to reduce speed. Not mentioned in report.

Rubber seal on sun roof badly dry rotted with surface flaking off as dust. Not mentioned in report.

Hood springs so weak that hood springs, when interior latch releases first catch, do not push up hood far enough to allow fingers under hood to release second catch. A wood or plastic handled utensil is required to leverage lift it far enough to be opened without damaging paint. Not mentioned in report.

Headlight switch does not work at AUTO setting. Not mentioned in report.

Inspector reported that the car had no GPS/Navigation system, which it certainly does have.

When I brought the car to my mechanic for state inspection, that mechanic found the following problems: Upper Ball Joint Boots torn, Rear Shock Boots missing, Rear Shock Mount Pivot Boots torn, Front Sway Bar Link Boots torn. Each of these line items on the inspection report was listed as Acceptable.

Paid $200 for a pre-purchase vehicle…

Paid $200 for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. Two weeks later: no report, no email, and no response to multiple emails. I called several times and spoke to the same person each time—he acknowledged my order and kept promising, “you’ll get it today or tomorrow.” Nothing ever came.

They knew the correct vehicle, dealer, and contact person, but never delivered the report I paid for. This seems to be a pattern based on other reviews.

I’ve filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am initiating a chargeback with my bank.

Avoid this company. Unprofessional at best, borderline scam at worst.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE - I was duped into purchasing an inspection by these scam artists because I was in a rush and didn't do my due diligence. They lied and said it would be done within 48 hours then tried to lie their way to the holiday weekend so they could disappear. Some guy named Frank lied and told me to submit the refund request on their website but the tool to do it is broken. Then they stopped answering my calls so I had to file the complaint with the BBB. It's only 200$ but felt worth it to help other people. The BBB apparently made them refund the money because this Frank guy called me to harass me about it lol. He didn't remember telling me to process it online literally 8 hours earlier so that alone should tell you it's not the kind of person you want to be dealing with.

Instead of getting scammed by OnCall, do a search for shops that do a Pre-Purchase Inspection in the area the vehicle is located in. Just do that and you'll be fine.

God no

They took a total of 4 days to do an inspection, I cancel the order and told them not to proceed with it. They did it anyway, and won't call me back. Stay away for these people.

Nobody to help and talk to

Nobody to help and talk to. Keep getting put off. There are better companies performing inspections that you should go there first. Poor experience .

Phenomenal customer service and the…

Phenomenal customer service and the mechanic did a very thorough inspection of the vehicle. Saved me a lot of time and money I would've spent on a used vehicle that had a plethora of issues that OnCall Inspection Services was able to identify. From my experience, I wouldn't trust any review of their services that's below 5 stars. Highly recommend for anyone looking to have a vehicle inspected. I will be continuing to use them moving forward. 10/10

The inspector checked to make sure everything worked all the options, lights, radio, power windows and
power top,AC, heater,checked for water and oil leaks, checked tire wear and measured thread depth, made sure keys locked doors, checked undercarriage for rust, checked brakes and road tested for handling and rattles, took 87 pictures and pids. of any imperfections in paint, could not have done any better if I went myself, do not hesitate using this company, its well worth the price!!!

Absolutely awful service, if you can call it service!

Don't waste your time

I purchased an order with this company (oncallinspections.com) on 8/25/2023. My intent was to use their services however I was not due to the vehicle needed to be inspected not available from the dealer. I attempted to reschedule but again I did not have an exact date to the dealership not having a solid date to give me for the availability of the vehicle. I then attempted to cancel my order and was told I could not. Long story short, I never received services and never received a refund. So basically I paid $200 for nothing.

The report took significantly longer…

The report took significantly longer than I anticipated-about 5 days, which is much longer than the timeframe promised on their website. However, once I received it, I found the report to be detailed and of high quality. Even though the delay was frustrating, I'm relieved that I used oncall inspections to inspect the car I'm buying on the East Coast while I'm based on the West Coast. It gave me peace of mind, but they definitely need to work on speeding up their delivery processs.

I have to give OnCalllnspections.com 4 out of 5 stars. The main issue I had was with communication. All the different phone numbers I tried led to the same automated voicemail, which made me nervous since there was no option to talk to a live person. To check on my current inspection. I had to go through the process of selecting start a new inspection. The said, they did inspect the vehicle on the scheduled day, but since I had already put down a $1,000 deposit to hold the vehicle, I was anxious for the report. They did rush the order for me. and I was able to get the car.

Fast

Fast, punctual, and a detailed report-all for just $199. What more could I ask for? The service was top-notch, and the report was incredibly thorough, I plan to use them for all my future car purchases. This was my first time using their service, and I can't recommend them enough! Honestly, I have no clue why there are negative reviews because my experience was absolutely great.

The inspection and evaluation of the car I was interested in were extremely thoroughly. I found the vehicle on a internet auction, and based on the description and photos, it looked perfect for me. Having used OnCall Inspections previously with great results. I decided to go with them again. They uncovered hidden issues that waren't evident from the pictures or the listign. Thanks to their detailed report. I avoid making a costly mistake. If you're unable to personality Inspect a car, I highly recommend getting a OnCall Inspections report. Five stars for their excellent service.

I was in the market for a vintage SUV…

I was in the market for a vintage SUV and came across one I really liked on Hermmings. Since it was located 600 miles away, I decided to use a vehicle inspection service. After a bit of research, I stumbled upon OnCalllnspections.com.
