Shabby, expensive & non-inclusive - avoid & go to Activ8 or JD Gyms

Poor treatment of staff

I feel sorry for the poor youngster who was running the place single handedly. She was trying to run the desk and do the cleaning at the same time every time I went in for many months. She seems to have had enough and quit now, as there are new faces in there again. If you dig around on the internet, the staff turnover for One Gym is pretty high. I have read several reports of poor treatment of staff.

Expensive rubbish

It's not cheap, it's £32/month for the rolling non-contract, on ONE site only. To put that in perspective you can get an Activ8 membership for £25 which includes four sites, three swimming pools, and discounts on activities like ice skating. JD Gym is also excellent.

Broken equipment/lack of equipment

For a large gym, there are several machines missing, and always 2-3 key pieces of equipment broken & out of action. It is also dingy and smelly, kinda reminds me of a grotty nightclub.

Agressive customer service

It's all fine until you're a bit late with a payment, then you get an agressive email with bad grammar giving you 12 days to pay. Otherwise you're off to the debt collection company.

Quit at any time (not)

This is the only gym where you need to give 30 days notice to quit the pay-by-month non-contract option. They don't take cash either, so if you struggle with digital payment means it's like talking to a brick wall. It doesn't matter if you have diagnosed mental health issues, there are no efforts to include special needs. It's some of the most apathetic and agressive "customer service" I've ever experienced.

No effort for special needs

I have a diagnosed mental health problem, and there was absolutely zero effort, understanding, or flexibility around it.
