Recently moved into a new house

Recently moved into a new house. I chose O’Neils from two personal recommendations. They came out for a radiator leak which they were unable to fix due to the age of the radiator. The Engineer made sure the radiator was drained and off to allow me to still use my heating. The quote to supply and fit was reasonable. I also got them to put in a new boiler. The engineer who attended for the leak also provided the quote. He was really clear and discussed the boiler options with me which I found really good as sometimes being a female I have been talked down to at times. The installing Engineer (Glen) did both the radiator and boiler. He was efficient, tidy and helpful. He made sure any questions I had were answered in full before he left but made it clear I could phone if I had any questions he also set up my Hive thermostat system ensuring it was working properly and that I was connected via the app. The old boiler was taken away before he left the house and the place was left near and tidy.

The office staff (Tammie) was really helpful and I received a follow up call after the work had been done to make sure all was ok. I have been in the office and all the ladies are really nice and friendly and helpful.

The engineer attended really quickly for the leak and the new boiler/radiator fitting was booked on the Monday for the Thursday of the same week. (Unlike the previous time I had a boiler fitted which took six weeks to be done!)

First Class from start to finish

We have been a customer for years and between Christmas and New Year our gas boiler gave up on us, thankfully the whole episode was made so easy by the staff of O’Neil’s and a new boiler was ordered and fitted as soon as it was possible. Tammie in the office was so understanding and helpful and Glen the engineer had the work all done and cleaned up in the same day. A credit to the company and with the brilliant attitude and professionalism we were shown. I thank everyone concerned and would recommend the company, although I hope it will be a while until I need to call again. Many thanks once again.

Left for months with no heating or hot water. Initial repair booked, took over a week for the needed part to arrive and then the repair failed, had to chase for the promised refund.

Agreed to a complete replacement, took a further 2 weeks for someone to come out and survey for the quote. Then I chased the quote over 4 weeks, kept getting pawned off about someone waiting to hear back from a manager. I stopped chasing eventually and just never heard back from them again.

Complete waste of time and money.

Three weeks of no heat or hot water, and no refund after failing to fix boiler

When our Worcester boiler failed we contacted O’Neil’s. Someone came out quickly and diagnosed a failed gas valve. That was on a Wednesday. I chased up on Friday to find out what the score was, and it was arranged for fitting on the following Tuesday. I took time off work, only for the fitter to arrive with the wrong valve. Then a subsequent visit and another wrong valve. The fourth guy came out with the correct valve, but found that the wiring harness was failed. The fifth guy came out with the wrong harness. By this point I’d arranged with a different Gas Fitter to supply and fit a new boiler. O’Neil left us with no heating or hot water for three weeks during the cold snap in November’24. They have you pay in advance, but then when they fail to fix the job refuse to refund you claiming that you’ve paid to replace a valve, and that’s what they’ve done. Avoid at all costs!

O'Neil sent 3 engineers (we had multiple visits) were quick to respond and ordered parts to fix the issue. Service was professional, friendly and I was kept op to date by friendly phone calls advising me of progress. 2 weeks later the boiler has been purring and running like never before.

Great company and engineers, my oil boiler had issues and they fixed it in no time at all through an insurance claim. I can't rate them high enough.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

I have O'Neil's Gold Care contract covering my boiler and heating systems. I renewed this yearly contract last August 2023 at a cost of £195.

My boiler had been hassle-free in the past but in February 2024 it lost pressure, no heating or hot water, so I contacted O'Neil. After many weeks of ongoing hassle, stress and numerous call-outs, O'Neil insisted that there was nothing wrong with my boiler and that the loss of pressure was caused by a water leak somewhere in the connecting pipework and that this was not their problem.

I was now having to think about the cost and major disruption involved in finding the water leak. I was also thinking that it might be easier just to replace my entire heating system. So, I contacted a local company, R. G. Whyte, for advice. They came out and quickly found a faulty part in the boiler. I asked Mr. Whyte to install a new boiler, which he did in early March, and this solved the problem. There was nothing wrong with the existing pipework!!!

I have reported O'Neil Gas Services to the Trading Standards.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

Customer service O’Neil’s go above and beyond

I really wanted to make a review for the wonderful care and customer service my 80 year old mother in law received. Where do I start from the initial phone call for advice about her old boiler to arranging to have a new boiler fitted which they found for £200 than the agreed price. To the efficiency of fitting the boiler flushing boiler and the ease of arranging all visits. My mother in law is so happy with O’Neil’s and would recommend them to everyone in a heart beat. Thank you O’Neil’s from Mrs Murphy Ayr

They take your £800 for 4 years of…

They take your £800 for 4 years of boiler insurance with no claims and when you put in for a repair they lie. They stated it needed a new heat exchanger. It failed after 1 hour. They then said new water pump and brought out the wrong pump. They then stated they could not source the pump as obsolete They gave me the part number and I checked the boiler plate and Wolsey in Ayr had them in stock. They now state boiler is uneconomical to repair. No gas or heating for 6 weeks, and they continued to take monthly payments while waiting for parts. Then they decide to cancel your repair with no notice and lie about parts. Oh, they did offer to sell me a new boiler and fit it for free so nice of them. Well trading standards are on the case of it will end up in small claims court. Either way, I will win but to be safe Please Do Not Use this company.

No regard for saftey

I had a maintenance contract for unlimited call outs spare parts and labour. My boiler had a fault late November 2022. engineers called numerous times, and numerous expensive parts were fitted. In my opinion they were guessing what the fault was. By January 2023 the fault was still their and the boiler was exploding inside the heat exchanger which in my opinion was very serious. they would not respond to either my calls or e-mails, by the beginning of February they would still not send an engineer to check what was causing the explosions, leaving me with a dangerous boiler and breaking my contract with them. I have now had the boiler repaired and although the boiler was in a dangerous condition, the repair was a simple one that should have been picked up by O'Neil's engineers at the very beginning. From November to February we had little or no heating.
For your own safety. I would think very carefully before using this company

Oil boiler repair disaster

I arranged for O'Neils to repair my oil boiler recently. The boiler was cuttting out intermittently and had to be restarted up to seven or eight times a day. An engineer attended and worked on the boiler for a while then declared the problem solved. It worked for a while then started cutting out again. I advised O'Neils of the problem and they said they would return ASAP. A week later the problem seemed to have sorted itself out. A day or two later an engineer arrived and I informed him that the problem seemed to have disappeared. He said he would have a quick look at it and said it seemed fine. Two months later am invoice arrived from O'Neil for £72.00 for the repair of my boiler which was not in need of repair. I then contacted my local Trading Standards officers who advised me not to settle the account under any circumstances. DO NOT TOUCH THESE COWBOYS WITH A BARGE POLE. (apologies for mixing my metaphors)

Shocking customer service

A loyal customer for 10 years paying full boiler and central heating cover and this year was the first time I requested assistance with central heating. Mentioned that one radiator was slightly lukewarm resulting in young engineer causing 4 leaks which were rectified following morning by mature engineer. Shortly afterwards received letter stating that my contract had been terminated due to sludge in system. Quotation in excess of £1400, payment to be made upfront, was received for power flush, new radiator and valves. When I questioned the upfront payment I was told by the finance director that this was unusual as I was a regular customer but later informed this was a management decision. Reluctantly but necessarily made payment and work commenced a month later on 2 separate dates. Was surprised to receive telephone call several days after completion of work to say I owed more for chemicals used. I declined to pay the latter as this was not mentioned previously. Several weeks later I requested a receipt which was not forthcoming. A receipt was delivered ….for works done and payment. On application to renew my contract, it was declined stating that there was a high risk of claims. This decision and statement shocked me and I made 2 visits to the showroom to speak to Mr. O’Neil for an explanation, only to be told that he does not speak to customers either in person or on the telephone. My previous boiler was a Vaillant also, 22 years old, regularly serviced by a competitor and in good working order when O’Neil Gas Services replaced it for another Vaillant. Very disappointing customer service.
