A helping hand to success
Strider intro call is made in a very human and friendly way. They are concerned about the candidate's success and help them prepare for this.
When we started working with Strider
When we started working with Strider, we were in the middle of growing our team in LATAM and had already tried a few other services that didn’t quite work out. Strider was different. They helped us hire two great software engineers—a front-end developer and a back-end developer—who’ve played a big role in building and scaling our online learning platform.
What stood out right away was how much effort their team put into understanding what we actually needed at SpanishVIP. It wasn’t just about finding developers with the right technical skills (though they absolutely nailed that part); they also focused on making sure the candidates fit with our company’s culture and working style. They sent us a handful of candidates for each position, and honestly every one of them was a strong option. That’s not something we’d experienced with other platforms.
The hiring process itself was refreshingly simple. Strider handled all the logistical stuff—like screening and scheduling interviews—so we could focus on meeting the candidates and deciding who felt like the best fit for us. It was a huge time-saver and made what’s normally a pretty stressful process feel a lot more manageable.
When we hired our first developer through them, he quickly made an impact on our codebase and fit well into our existing team. A few months later, when we needed to expand further, it was an easy decision to go back to Strider for help. The second hire has been just as good as the first, and both have become key contributors to our success.
I also really appreciate how responsive and helpful Strider’s team has been throughout the entire process. They’ve clearly thought through how to make this as smooth and effective as possible, and it shows in the results.
We’ve been so happy with how things have gone that we’re already planning to work with them again soon for additional positions. If you’re looking to hire developers in LATAM and want to avoid the usual headaches that come with the process, I’d definitely recommend giving Strider a try.
The mock interview was amazing!
The worst recruiter I tried so far
Most of the reviews here as from the POV of candidates. My experience as a recruiter was less than ideal.
tl:dr; I think that Strider team means well, but at the moment it's just a glorified Upwork that pushes subpar candidates down your throat at crazy fees. Strider is ok for startups looking to build prototypes, but does not cater to serious orgs that want to scale high quality teams.
----
I tried Strider because we are building a team in Sao Paulo and someone I know said they have good coverage in Brazil.
Unfortunately, unlike other recruiters, they force you pay exorbitant $2k+/month fees per candidate on top of candidate salaries justified as "value add services" like computer rental and payroll. If you are experienced operating in other countries, you know that you can simply pay people with Deel (which is what Strider also does based on reviews below) and getting a computer is not an issue (you can order it from Mercado Libre). But they insist these services are valuable enough to justify the cost, go figure.
If you want to buy out a candidate, the fee is an insane 40% (on top of the monthly fees that are 20%+ per year already!). We tried to negotiate with them to something more reasonable but they insisted we need to hire at least 5 candidates within 12 months to qualify for lower fees (without any guarantees of candidate quality).
They also want to force you to use their own interview process (meaning they do the interviews) which incentivizes placing low quality candidates without proper vetting. They believe they can place people within 2 weeks, which is laughable if you want to maintain high quality bar.
When I pushed back and said we want to use our own process, their sales rep Gexan started to get belligerent, claiming that our policies are inadequate and that we should do some "reflection". Without any proper notice or explanation Gexan also shut down our access to their Slack channel and we never heard back from them ever again. It was extremely bizarre. I never experienced anything like this from any other recruiter being 10+ years in tech.
If you want to quickly hire candidates for simple projects without any proper vetting, Strider is probably a good choice for short-term stints (but more expensive than Upwork). If you want to staff a proper team and find high quality candidates for the long run, I recommend partnering with one of the many recruiters out there that specialize in Latam. If you still decide to try Strider, do so at your own risk and supplement their pipeline with other options.

It's a waste of time
It's a waste of time. They make you fill out many forms and record videos, and then they don’t provide anything further, not even feedback.
Mock interview was a game changer
So far the whole process have been smoothy, with some tough questions that makes me feel that I need to work a bit more in my speech. The most value and differences between other platforms was the mock interview, that helps a lot to review and highlight some points that I need to work on for the real one.
