Oookworks is back!

I was extremely sceptical about ordering anything from Sean at Ookworks having e-mailed him in 2014 with no responses. In January this year I spotted his website had been updated so dropped him a line and he responded immediately. I played safe initially and ordered a Trailstar door which I knew he did and it came in 8 days!

So I took the plunge and after lots of discussion via e-mail ordered a 2Oookstar inner for my TS on the 19th February 2016. It arrived, as promised, on the 18th March 2016. The kit itself is superb having fully tested it on a 4 day backpack across Scotland just a week later. Although his workmanship has never really been in doubt.

I did raise my concerns with Sean prior to the order and he was great, happy to discuss the issues and explained his plan going forward. Essentially taking 6 new orders a month and also completing 6 delayed orders a month. The new orders ensures he has cash flow and the ability to buy materials to not only complete those but the backlog.

It must be incredibly frustrating for people who are still waiting or have given up completely. However, I do hope Sean is able to go from strength to strength from here.

Do not order from Oookworks!

Over nearly two years of repeated ignored emails, broken promises and then a threat from myself about taking him to court, I received part of my order which was of poor quality and broke on first use. I then requested the rest of my money back to which he refused. I then raised a claim through a small claims court and eventually got my money back with sarcastic unpleasant emails from Sean. Take my advice do not order from Oookworks and if you already have and you are having difficulties, take him to court. It is easy, you will get your money back, the court fees back and you will learn a lot. Yon can also buy the products he sells cheaper elsewhere.

Disgraceful way to treat customers

I bought a groundsheet in July 2013 from Sean Clayton at Oookworks. As the item is made to order I knew I would have to wait some time before receiving it. I believe the wait times on the website stated 3 months. I read that Sean suffered from depression so when 3 months came and went I didn't make a fuss reasoning that I can wait a little longer. In Feb 2014 I still had not received it so I contacted Sean by text and email to see what was going on. The emails and texts went unanswered. I followed these up with more texts which again went unanswered. Finally Sean replied to one of my texts saying he didn't know what had happened but he would get a groundsheet to me the next week. The week came and went with no groundsheet. He has ignored all my texts since asking for a refund. All of my correspondences have been polite and reasonable. Depression is no excuse for taking customer’s money and giving nothing in return. That’s theft. Anyone treating customers like this is a disgrace and should be avoided.
