Evaluating 1,273 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently highlight the politeness, professionalism, and efficiency of the staff, particularly the engineers who conduct thorough boiler services. The ease of signing up and the competitive pricing are also consistently praised, with many finding the process straightforward and the value for money excellent compared to other providers. Reviewers appreciate the clear communication and responsive customer service, noting that their questions are answered efficiently and that they can easily schedule appointments to suit their needs. However, some customers also noted issues with service scheduling, with some experiencing delays or difficulties in getting appointments at suitable times. A few other people also felt that the initial diagnostic work by engineers was not always sufficient, leading to unresolved issues or additional recommendations for system upgrades. There were also isolated concerns about contract renewals and price increases without prior agreement.

Recommend - fair price for quality service

So far so good! After being with British Gas for boiler cover for years, a ridiculously high renewal price meant shopping around. Very happy with annual service: comms, service and engineer. Recommend.

They may have been 4* once... sadly no more

They may have been 4* once, but sadly no more. When things don't go to plan, the customer service team, working practices, do not accommodate any level customer service or support. Within the 1st year work was identified as not included in the policy, a decorative bathroom radiator. Therefore, policy was insufficient and not fit for purpose from the Customer POV. Instructions given to terminate contract on due expiry date. Despite this, OpenFix auto-renewed at a premium, at almost double that of the original deal. Called to discuss why, only to be told at that point, "we do not accept verbal instructions". This despite the conversation and instruction being captured in our customer notes. Also, that we are now entered into a new contract for a further 12months. Conceding, "well at least we are covered", we carried on. Some months later, a fault was found in the heating system, a standard radiator this time. A procession of Engineers followed, with no solution nor fix offered. Then..., the fault "could be" a blockage (in a brand new radiator system having been " power flushed through" +/-12m old, serviced by OpenFix for the past year). Now informed, surprise surprise,... the solution would be to flush the system, which is not covered under the contract. 18months of payments, 12 months of cold radiators, frustrated to the point of buying ourselves out of the contract. Now to conclude this poor relationship, feeling forced to buy ourselves out of contract at full term costs. This extortionate amount without consideration to lack of service, or Engineering competence provided throughout the +/-18month term. Absolutely unbelievable, frustrated, dis-satisfied and very much out of pocket. Poor show from start to finish. Buyer remorse.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we’re sorry to hear how frustrated you’ve been.

To clarify a few of the points raised:

During your first year, the issue reported related to a radiator valve on a towel rail. These are considered non-standard items and fall outside of the systems included within our plans, which is why that repair wasn’t something we were able to assist with.

Regarding your renewal, we’d like to clarify that we do accept cancellations over the phone. When you contacted us, you advised that you hadn’t received your renewal notice due to a change in your email address which hadn’t been updated on your account. As the plan had already renewed at that stage, it had entered a new term, which is why the renewal proceeded as it did.

For the more recent heating issue, multiple engineers have all identified the same cause: a blockage within the system due to sludge. Issues like this are linked to the condition and maintenance of the system rather than a sudden breakdown. While you mentioned a power flush had been carried out previously, this would need to be taken up with the provider who completed that work, as it falls outside the scope of the plan.

As requested, your plan has now been cancelled mid-term, and the associated costs were explained at the time. We understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for, and we’re sorry that your experience with us hasn’t met expectations.

Many thanks,

Boiler service

We were contacted by Openfix and the engineer for an appointment to come and service our (gas) boiler (annual service). The engineer contacted us again about 20 mins before arrival which was good. He serviced the boiler as required. We've had an ongoing issue with pressure (combi boiler) but he said he couldn't help with this as he only gets paid to service the boiler. He suggested we contact a specialist!

Poor communication.

We felt that this company are not very customer focused (especially to those who are older and prefer talking with a person). We were not happy with service provided and cancelled our contract after 3 months.

Boiler service

Mark arrived after letting me know he was on his way. Serviced the boiler in a clean and tidy way and didn't spend time trying to sell a new boiler. Our current boiler is 10 years old but was told it is in good condition and doesn't need to be changing

Very bad, don’t waste your money and time

Very bad experience, ripoff company, paid out £99 call out charges, plus monthly ££16 direct debate. All you get is diagnostic report by the engineer to have bigger pump for the boiler, which is incorrect as seen by other boiler engineer.

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with our service.
The call-out fee covers the engineer attending and carrying out a full diagnostic, which was completed during the visit. The engineer confirmed that your heating system is operational, with the issue limited to the furthest radiators — a common sign of circulation and system performance limitations on larger systems.

The recommendations provided were to:
• Upgrade and install a higher-capacity external pump
• Carry out a full system powerflush
• Complete a full system balance

These are recognised improvement and maintenance works designed to enhance system performance, rather than a sudden unforeseen breakdown requiring repair.

Our plans are designed to diagnose and assist with sudden, unforeseen breakdowns. Where a system is operational but requires upgrades or maintenance to improve performance, this falls outside of that scope.

We’re sorry this wasn’t the outcome you were hoping for, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

Many thanks,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the service provided by the engineer.

We aim for all our members to have a positive experience, and it is disappointing whenever a visit doesn't meet those expectations. We have noted your comments regarding the duration of the visit and the condition of the outside box, and we will be raising these points with the independent engineer involved.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention as it helps us monitor the standards of the tradespeople we assign. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact our customer service team.

Pointless Boiler Cover

I have boiler cover with openfix and low and behold I eventually needed an engineer due to a small leak coming from our boiler.
They assigned the job quickly to a local heating engineer who came to inspect and diagnose the dripping and he quickly told us there was a blockage on a return manifold, he showed us the blockage on the part, and concluded that the part needed replacing.
When he called openfix they would not authorise the work as it was a blockage due to sludge ???

So this is where I get confused, no attempt is made to clear the blockage ( if it's even possible ), Just the replace option.
The boiler has always been serviced as per manufacturers schedule ( To preserve a 10 year warranty ), we have a filter fitted which is supposed to filter out this sludge ( who knew sludge was magnetic ), and still this sludge has managed to block a manifold over its 11 year life.... I still don't know if flushing the system is process that needs doing every so long ( only heard of it today ).

The heating engineer quoted me £495 to replace this manifold.... £495 to replace a part that is supposed to be covered by Openfix.
After a call from openfix to 'discuss' the case I was quite litteraly told that if I paid for the flush and repair ( Even he sounded shocked at the £495 ), I'd be covered again.
So I have to ask, what is the point in having boiler cover from Openfix... absolutely non at at all is the answer, when I asked if I could just end the cover as its not worth the paper it's written on I was told 'It's not that simple'.. so it looks like I am going to have to pay £495 for a repair, continue paying for insurance that's absolutely pointless..... wait till September for my 'free' boiler service and then cancel the cover and go elsewhere.
Absolutely shocking, No empathy whatsoever, no Goodwill gestures ( not that I'd have been happy at that )... Just pay £495 to repair your own boiler that's covered, to carry on having cover !!

Somebody make this make sense !!

After seeing the response, it is what I expected.. blaming poor maintenence, I took this opportunity to go look in the magnetic filter that hasn't been emptied since June last year ( The last boiler service ) .
If i can add photos I will, but it's literally a few flakes.
If flushes are to be performed every 4-5 years then maybe this should be a question to be answered when people apply for this cover as again until this happened to us we had no idea as it's not part of a boiler service.. almost seems cynical and my point still stands that the cover is pointless and I would not recommend.
I've not heard such rubbish since Mercedes rejected a claim on anti perforation for being the wrong type of rust.
A part has failed and needs replacing, the manufacturers service schedule has been followed from new and the boiler has cover with yourselves
Let other potential customers make their own mind up after reading this review im only here to put my opinion and experience across.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand the frustration, but we’d like to clarify why sludge-related issues are an industry-standard exclusion.

Our plans are designed for sudden mechanical breakdowns, not ongoing system maintenance.

Sludge builds up when air enters the system and/or water pH levels shift, causing internal corrosion. Manufacturers' warranties also typically exclude faults caused by sludge for the same reasons and recommend a professional flush every 5–6 years with the use of water inhibitor to prevent this, as even a good filter only slows the buildup.

As we are a breakdown service rather than a maintenance provider, the process maintaining water quality and clearing sludge falls outside the scope of our agreement. Replacing parts in a system with poor water quality is ineffective, as the new part would quickly block or cause other components to fail.

If you require any further clarification or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

Many thanks,
OpenFix

OPENFIX SCAM DO NOT USE

SCAM DO NOT USE, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Was with Openfix for one year, when renewal came around I didn’t receive the email within the agreed time frame as per my welcome plan email. Customer service is a joke when speaking to the two guys, not helpful at all and wouldn’t or couldn’t be bothered to listen to my concerns or admit that the renewal date was sent far to late before my plan started up again for the second year. Absolute joke and SCAM. Canceled plan and was charged £30. Put a complaint in and received an email saying that it was inline with there procedures. (Anyone with a calculator can work out the dates and see that it didn’t meet there procedures). Would not recommend them to anyone. Pay more and go with a proper company. Don’t let these sort of companies rip people like you and I off. Mr T the founder and customer service you all should be ashamed of yourselves. SCAM

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry for the frustration caused around your renewal and cancellation.

Having reviewed your account and the information you provided, we can see that while our current process allows a 10-day renewal notice alongside a 14-day cooling-off period, this differed from the timeframe outlined in your original welcome email. We did not take this into account when you first contacted us, and we apologise for that.

We have now reopened your complaint and arranged a full refund of the £30 administration fee. This will be returned to your account within 3–5 working days.

We also take your comments regarding customer service seriously and will use this to improve how we handle situations like this going forward.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we wish you all the best.

Many thanks,
OpenFix
