Don’t order from this company when you have other more reliable options.
Two books were missing from my order. I have emailed them - no response. I have called 24 times - the phone just rings out.
I see another customer here had books missing and did not have them issued when highlighting the issue. It will be interesting to see what happens here.
I have used Opening Minds for the last number of years to order my children's school books. I ordered the books at the start of summer and, like many other full-time working and busy parents, I only got to organising everything for back to school at the weekend, which involved opening the two large boxes of books that arrived about 6 weeks ago. There were two books missing. I emailed the company and received an email explaining that their T&Cs state that contents of the deliveries should be checked within 14 days and refunds sought within that time-frame. The individual also hastened to add that there were no stock discrepancies on their end with regards to the two titles, which frankly made me feel as though they were suggesting that my claim was somehow disingenuous. I accept that they have T&Cs, but being a repeat customer and having spent €700 on kids school books in this order alone, most businesses would exercise goodwill and discretion here. Very short-sighted of them given my children will be in school for the next 10-12 years, and I will not be using this company again.
I am very disappointed with the service this year. I have supported their business for several years and this year I ordered and paid for books, which clearly said they were in stock. I only received an email on Monday to say that they wree waiting on the books to arrive from supplies, and that they apologise for delay. As it was in one order, none of the books have arrived and my daughter started school today. She has no books, and despite several calls and emails, I am still unable to make contact with them. This is false advertising as they said all the books that I ordered and paid for were in stock. Had they been honest and said they were not in stock, I would not have placed order with them. I am still trying to make contact without success. Very disappointing service.
I was struggling with recent bereavement and another family members funeral today . I was greeted by a friendly group of people at West Country water park. I might have stayed in a bit long as got cold but felt really cared for and felt the best ever when warm. First time at open minds group. Thank you
Order for school books made on August 16. Silence until August 20 when they inform that order cannot be posted as one book is missing. They never indicate on their website if the books are actually available at their warehouse or not. On August 22 order was sent and received on August 24, with one wrong book (wrong year). As a result my child needs to photocopy classmates school book until today, September 5. The latest I heard from them, after more than one week of waiting, that they are checking if it was their warehouse issue. And if it was, then they would send me the book that was mixed up. No timeline given, no excuses.
Will never order from them again. Irish business at its worst.
If there was an option for no stars that is what I would be choosing!!!! I ordered Politics and Society exam papers from this godforsaken website over a MONTH ago and I have received not a single update or email as to where they might be. These exam papers are completely sold out now and cannot be bought anymore. As a 6th year student, I'm sure you can all imagine my stress. I ordered these papers at the start of September and it is now October !! Opening Minds is a distrusting, useless, unhelpful and treacherous company. Take your money elsewhere unless you wish to be robbed!!!!!!
Excellent service especially during the busy summer period.
Definitely recommend.
Went out of their way to source a book for me. So pleasant to deal with even under pressure during their busy times.
Felt totally shafted after buying some music material in their Stillorgan shop today. Bought: (1) A 6-page booklet of Bohemian Rhapsody music sheets for a staggering €10 - the back of the booklet indicated an original price of just $3.99. (2) Bach Cantata 78 €17, but only €14 online (3) Romeo & Juliet Overture €14.50, but €13.50 online. Buy with your eyes wide open when shopping here, or else get your Vaseline ready.
went instore to get snr infants school books, they said they would order them in as they didnt have them in stock. They charged more for instore ordering than they do for online ordering plus collection instore. Had this been noted at the start of the transaction I would have just ordered all books online. When collecting my order I informed the sales assistant that I was charged more for my order instore rather than ordering online for collection instore and she told me it was because of handling... sorry but I'm pretty sure the same amount of handling goes from stock coming in and orders coming into store. her other response was I pass it on. I won't shop here again as I can easily get the same books for less online with free delivery or collection from other stores. Absolute joke of a service you would think with covid they would be trying to encourage footfall and sales however this is the last time I will shop with them
I have ordered school books online, all books where available and all have been in my basked I paid of course for them all and I got the message that I should get them in 1-2 days max three days. I have been waiting for three days and I decide to call them, they said that the missing one book and they don't know when this book will be available and all order is waiting for that book. and that was 31st Aug. I ask them to send me rest of the books on Friday or Saturday Because My son needs them for Monday, but they said they don't have courier at the moment and they will call me back with an update very soon, this of course never happens, Better keep away.
Excellent company and excellent customer service. I recently purchased some exam papers from this site, and received such immense service I felt I just had to write a review. First off, I accidentally put the incorrect shipping address in (it was pre-populated from a previous order). I emailed straight away to get the address changed, which was followed very promptly by an email from Mary to say that they were still trying to source the papers from suppliers but would change the delivery date no problem. Another email followed the same day to say that the exam papers in questions were completely sold out everywhere and due to the time of year would not be re-published. Mary did however offer an alternative to what I had ordered or of course an immediate refund. Before I had time to read and reply to her email, about 5pm the same day Mary emailed again to firstly apologise for all the emails that day, but to inform me she had eventually tracked down a copy of the papers and was dispatching them immediately. What a lovely lady who went above and beyond what other companies would just leave at "It's out of stock and now out of print". Thank you so much Mary, I order schoolbooks online every year and after the service I received from openingminds.ie I know it's a service I can trust and will use over and over in the future.
