Absolutely Shocking Company

Have to agree totally with the other negative reviews on here about Optama for solar and battery install.
They have to be the worst professional company I have ever dealt with. Constantly having to chase them and being ignored, being told lies, rescheduling the job numerous times at the last minute with no communication and giving you empty promises. Then when they do turn up the wrong equipment gets fitted.
Health and Safety by the contractors is also a concern, as no scaffolding was erected when they were installing the panels, something that they quote for in the price!
Nobody from the Optama operations team has ever visited my property to check the install and they just ignore any formal requirements or communication, that is until they need an invoice paid then they continually harass you for payment.
If you are applying for the government backed HES loan funding to support your install then forget it, as they do not fully support the scheme, because they require payment as soon as the install is complete. This defeats the purpose of applying for a loan, as the HES funding can take a few weeks to be released for payment once the install has been done and that is assuming the Optama paperwork has been completed correctly. This results in you needing to find other means to pay the invoice.
I would never recommend this company to anyone and wish I had gone elsewhere.
They don't give a damn about the customer and all they are chasing is the next poor customer in line with a deposit, once that's paid they move on.
They don't even deserve a 1 star review. You have been warned!

New air source heating

Got new air source heating, internal wall insulation and solar panels put in last week by Optama and must say that I am delighted with all aspects of the jjob
From first contact to sign off we found this company to be very professional and helpful in all manners,
We would have no problem in recommending or using this company again in the future

Ordered my solar panels in oct 2022

Ordered my solar panels in oct 2022. Given 10%deposit, then further 15%deposit in Feb 2023. So many lies about installation dates, and not giving information. When asked for refund, they said it's all done and will be there in 3-5 days. 3-5 days gone not a single penny arrived, again lies, now contacted my bank .

Air source heat pump and solar panels

Air source heat pump and solar panels

I had Optama install both air source heat pump and solar panels at my home on the Eco 4 scheme - this is an excellent scheme that allowed me to upgrade my home with no outlay costs to myself.

Throughout the whole time I dealt with Optama they were responsive and were on hand to help with any queries I had. I have received all paperwork and any questions I had were answered by Kieran and Calum straight away.

Solar Panels

Solar Panels

I first contacted Optama in February 2023 regarding installation of solar panels; the team at Optama were very efficient from first point of contact through to installation and after sales queries I had.

The panels look great and I paid an additional cost for bird skirting which gives a really nice finish. I would definitely recommend adding the bird skirting on to your quote!

I would not hesitate to use this company and have recommended their services to other friends and family.

Gave up after months of excuses

I am going to stick to the facts of the timeline and let people make up their own mind why I gave this rating.
20 Oct 22. Solar PV and battery order placed.
19 Dec 22. Home Energy Scotland funding approved. Optama were informed.
12th Jan 23. HES loan was fully in place with all paperwork complete. Optama were informed.
20th Jan. I chased up my email from 12th as had no contact. First Install date was given as 1st Feb.
23-30 Jan. Failed to carry out installation survey several times with no communication when not turning up.
30 Jan. Eventually had a video call on same day as 3rd attempt at in person meeting. Was then told agreed batteries and invertor would be changed.
31 Jan. I rejected the change in equipment. Was told on the phone the original equipment could be installed the following week.
6 Feb. I emailed to check when it would be installed.
7 Feb. I chased email due of lack of response. Was told they were chasing supplier and there were supply issues.
20 Feb. I chased due to lack of contact. Was told 17 Mar for install.
10 Mar. I emailed to check it was going ahead.
14 Mar. I chased due to lack of response to be told of a delay of a week due to weather.
20 Mar. I emailed to check when install would be that week.
21 Mar. Received reply and was told that supplier had let them down. (Why was the equipment only being ordered this late. Should it not have been ordered for 17 Mar??)
21 Mar. I emailed to summarise delays and set a deadline install date of 31st March.
22 Mar. Was told they would aim for this.
30 Mar. I emailed to check what was happening as had no contact. Received email that they wanted to come and see me to work out a plan. I offered times on the next 3 working days. NO attempt was made by Optama to set a date or time for meeting.
4 Apr. I emailed to cancel the order. I received no response.
5 Apr. I emailed again requesting an immediate response. Our deposit was refunded by the end of the day.

Avoid at all costs!

Optama installed our oil boiler in March 2022 but it took numerous visits and another month before it was working properly due to being badly and wrongly installed. Eventually got an engineer from the manufacturing company to come and look for it, and straight away he spotted that it had been wired up incorrectly.
Part of the contract included 5 years servicing. However when we tried to arrange the service in March 2023 Optama have continually ignored us. We have contacted them via their contact email, but not once had a reply. Also spoken to them on telephone and either get transferred to another extension which cuts of or goes to answer phone. And yes you guessed it, leave a message and you get ignored.
This company really should be ignored as I'm disgusted by their service. No idea how they are still in business as their service is disgraceful. They just want your money.
Just to add to that, we got numerous quotes at the time from different companies and a few were comparable but we went with Optama because they offered an interest free credit option on the payment. However after we signed up to them we were advised that unfortunately the interest free credit wasn't available when installing oil boilers. Strange how it was when they were giving us the sales pitch.

Following on from Optama's reply, I emailed them as requested,which is the same email address I've already trued to contact them on numerous occasions. Once again they have not replied.

Shockingly poor customer service

Placed me order in Aug 2022, now 10/02/23 and for the 4th time you have failed to install the solar panels on the agreed date. No contact to tell me it wasn't going to happen or why, and when I phone your customer service, there is never anyone from renewables available to take my call and promised call backs never happen

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL

Employed this company to supply and install elctric combi boiler in my 84 year old mother's home. The company cancelled the first time due to 'unforeseen circumstances' and rescheduled for 5 days later. I waited and waited and eventually called to ask where they were. Was told that job had been cancelled due to one of their engineers being sick. However, this had not been communicated to me! Extremely unprofessional so I have now cancelled this firm and requested my deposit of over £1000 be returned to me immediately. I do not have time to waste on a company who make false promises. Think again if you are tempted to request their services!!!

Whilst we value your feedback, it is disappointing to read as we along with most small companies were struggling to deal with the impact of increased Covid cases. In the space of 2 weeks we had 4 engineers and 3 office staff off with positive Covid Cases. This hugely impacted our operation and being a smaller company affected our customer service.

We totally understand your frustrations and quickly returned your initial deposit.

We hope you got the boiler replaced.

Never showed up twice without valid explanation

Initially called to ask about booking a service for my boiler, my details were taken and I was told I would get a call back. A day later I received a call back to organise the service. Having waited in all day for the service no one showed up so I called the office and the agent told me that the engineer had reported no access. The agent was as confused as I was annoyed that the engineer had neither been or phoned to say why, then the agent said he would rearrange it for the next day. Unfortunately I stayed in again all day the next day and again no one arrived. Calling back in I spoke to the same agent who said he would attempt to contact the engineer and call back. Though he did call back he had failed to speak with the engineer and said he would keep trying and get back to me by 5:30pm. I never received that call so have wasted my time with this company and will now need to try another.

Boiler service

Really happy with all the service received.

I called up the office at 15:45 as I hadn't heard anything and wasn't sure if an emergency call had happened that would delay the work. I was given a really informative response explaining that I would be the engineer's next visit, the area he was in now and the time he arrived at that job.

Engineer called ahead when en route and was really pleasant and professional. Serviced the boiler, helped explain how I can top up the pressure and generally what drops in pressure mean. Once finished, let me know everything was OK and headed off.
