In July 2021, I ordered, and received, a Maksutov-Newtonian 190mm telescope. When I opened the box and examined the optics, I noticed all five screws on the 2ndary were loose and the mirror had rotated! I contacted Optcorp and SkyWatchUSA several times to solve the problem. Within 30 days, I contacted Optcorp and asked to return the telescope with a full refund. No response from Optcorp until after 30 days! So, I contacted SkyWatchUSA. They asked that I return the telescope to them and they would repair it.
This has been a very bad experience.

It is always a good experience when I do business with OPT Telescopes.

Because of all the Covid restrictions and supply chain problems that go along with it, I've had to be patient in a lot of ways. I had purchased my new scope at OPT, but hadn't purchased the field flattener it needs. Someone from OPT called me and suggested I order one then even though they weren't in stock. I took the advice and waited. It wasn't hard to wait because the skies were not very cooperative. OPT shipped my flattener before their website even showed it was in stock. They will be my "goto" for optics from now on.

I reached out to them asking about discount codes and promotions back in December as it was my intension on spending $2000-$4000 on SE8 with all the options for my family. We order the telescope and had to send many messages to finally get told they were back ordered and we should be getting our order in 4-7 months. We the seventh month came we asked for tracking number and updates to be told it would be an additional 4-10 more weeks. We cancelled the order and placed with competitor. We received our full order for less money and in less than a week and a half.

This review is to update my original review. I did not realize there would be an opportunity to post pictures. I have clarify pictures that were taken and posted were not high resolution photos. They were all taken at various magnifications. All photos were taken with my pixel 3, and were hand held with no more than 6 seconds. My previous review showed a very low resolution photo of the Ring nebula. My original photo actually does a huge injustice to what the C14 is capable of. I felt I needed to post higher quality pictures. The hand held photos attached are of M13 and M22 taken with my pixel 3 and 6 second exposures at a magnification of 90.

Purchased a telescope for my daughter's 29th birthday. UPS delivered the telescope ... somewhere, but not to my daughter. I had put in a claim with UPS. Two weeks after that I called OPT to see if they could help. They put in a claim with UPS also. 48 hours later with no resolution from UPS, OPT offered to send my daughter a replacement so we wouldn't have to wait endlessly. (I didn't ask)

Clearly this is the kind of customer service we usually can only wish for. OPT has two customers for life (I'm hoping to upgrade my telescope later this year)

OPT is great and is quickly becoming my preferred vendor for an unhealthy astrophotography obsession. Great prices and the staff are always very helpful.

This is the second time I’ve ordered astronomy equipment from OPT. They seem to be well-organized, have an easy to use web site and competitive pricing. They also had the item I was looking for “in stock”, where other well-known astronomy stores on the web were out of it. Delivery was quick and the item was properly packed.

Mis-lead you about stock, Cristian Kerton will lie to you endlessly, the staff trying to take the company down, so customers cop the bad service. 5 months of 'will ship in next 2 weeks'.

Reasonable prices for products however the shipping costs are extremely exorbitant. You could get a better deal elsewhere other shops don’t deceive with low prices then at last minute charge an outrageous shipping fee!!! Unreal!!!

Absolutely horrible company. I ordered a scope and mount in august of 2020. Well here it is June of 2021. I ordered with the understanding they would have more in 14-28 days. After months of nothing, not even an email from opt, I send a nasty email only to find out a week later that they never had my stuff and the mfg discontinued it, again no email or anything from opt. Finally got through to someone in may and was assured it would be handled. Called today and once I finally got through I got the run around. Called back to cancel my order and was hung up on.
WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN

When I ordered a QHY268M camera from OPT it said the product was "in stock." Two weeks later it is not "On back order."

Worst of all, OPT had no problem charging my credit card for $2500 for a product they don't have in stock and don't know when they will have it.

To add insult to injury, 45 minutes on hold to talk to someone at OPT and suddenly it say "We are having technical difficulties" and disconnected.

Still no information on WHEN the camera will be delivered.

I ordered a telescope for my grandchild on Jan. 2, 2021. I didn't know it was out of stock. Shortly thereafter, I checked my order and it said 2-3 months backorder. I tried multiple times to speak with someone without success. I checked back in February and ended up choosing sales because I thought they would answer. No luck. Tried again and finally got through. I was told the scope would be in end of March, early April. Okay, my granddaughter's birthday was May 26th. In early May I called and was then told it would be late June into July. Disgusted, I told them to refund my money. I asked for a list be sent to me so I could choose something for a beginning astronomer. The gentleman said he would get it out by email to me in a few minutes. Days later, I called back. The gentleman who answered looked up my account and said "I know who said that, and I'm going to get him to do it right now." Well, surprise!!!! It never came. I have never dealt with a company with such poor customer service. Trying to find a telescope somewhere else.

I've ordered 7 times from them with no issues. No problems, even with cancelling an order. Never had to return anything to them, but always received my orders on time or faster than their estimated times of arrival.

I ordered a Raptor 61, I called to get information about connectors and mounting (having ordered it). It took me several calls to get through, when I finally did the guy had no idea and said they'd call me back... and didn't. This process was repeated three times.
When I got it, I wasted weeks while I ordered parts they could have told me about weeks earlier.
Useless customer service, I definitely won't be ordering from here again.

Terrible customer service. It has been 5 months, and I still have not received my very basic order.

Received my 12" Meade ACF LX-200. Two boxes one weighed 100 lbs. The one wit the tripod 50 lbs. Initial opinion is that this is a fine piece of workmanship and I'd give it another star but for one issue. The tripod was a prior model not the one noticed in the instruction manual available on-line. The central threaded rod is retained with a 'c-clip' whereas the newest version is a spring loaded device that would help center the rod on installation and make it less cumbersome to mount the telescope. This was very clumsy and I feared cross threading the mounting bolt. Extremely heavy at 75# but I can hoist it onto the tripod though I'd never try it in the dark. Transport requires an adequate case (JMI) not in stock most places though I did find one in Texas. Other option is a warehouse dolly, straps and furniture pads. Even the large Pelican cases aren't adequate and would add an extra 40 lbs. If you've got a very dark backyard go for it. I live in Phoenix not far from the city core so I'm headin' to the mountains when the case arrives. Still a quality product, exactly what I was looking for. Essential additions, 2" eyepiece and diagonal, power source other that the 8 C cells required. Microfocuser added as well. Documentation quite complete and easily understood even for the novice. Just disappointed that the tripod mount not as specified or it'd be a 5 star review.

This was my first order from OPT. Their stock system was accurate (no buying things that have gone out of stock) and my purchase shipped and arrived quickly. Will definitely use OPT in the future.
