VERY unreliable connections (down a lot) and terrible customer service. When asked for a refund for NO service provided they quickly disconnect from the chat. Being greedy does not pay long term.

We were told by the representative on March 10th to pay $132.04. Now being told that was incorrect and now we have to pay late fees. The representative today can’t see the text I was sent so I am posting here. As a service manager, I stand behind what my employees write, whether that be text, chat or email. Optimum should do the same instead of the standard “lip service” response you get here.

Just received my May bill and Optimum decided to raise my monthly charge $14 per month. No notice, no explanation. This is what they have done since we first were forced into using their service about 3 years ago. I guess there are no legal requirements in Texas for them to alert customers to a 15% rate increase so their not going to do it. I'm now paying 50% more for internet service than I am for electricity and there is no competition to choose from. What a racket!!!
Optimum’s habit of responding to every negative review without any noticeable improvement in service says a lot about how the company operates. I’m giving two stars because, when the service actually works, it performs well. As of now, I’m getting around 989 Mbps download speeds for $100 per month. However, I have internet service at other properties with similar speeds for less—some significantly less and definitely with less outages.
One ongoing frustration is something that should be simple: changing my network name and password. When I signed up three years ago, I was told this could easily be done through their website. In reality, every attempt over the past three years has resulted in the same error message: “Sorry, we can’t complete your request at this time.”
Unfortunately, in Georgetown, Texas Optimum seems to have a near-monopoly, leaving customers stuck dealing with outages and subpar service enabling them to raise prices with little worry of user cancellations.

If you're looking for good service, decent customer support and competitive pricing then run as fast as possible from Opti-scam! I've been a customer for four years since they bought out my previous ISP and it's been nothing short of a constant nightmare of outages and the most stupid offshore customer non-service. They should be rated a negative 5 instead of anything positive. Please, do NOT allow them into your life or home since you will be incredibly disappointed. Beyond horrible!

I work from home, so having internet is a necessity. Unfortunately, my experience with Optimum has been nothing short of exhausting.
Our service went down at 3:00 PM yesterday, and we were told it would be resolved by 8:41 PM. It wasn’t. The next update claimed the issue was fixed at 7:00 AM, and… it still wasn’t. After trying all the basic troubleshooting myself, I called support hoping to finally get real help.
Instead, I was walked through the exact same steps I had already tried. Then, right in the middle of an outage that had already gone on far too long, the representative tried to upsell me a mobile plan — even after I specifically asked her not to give me a sales pitch. She ignored that completely and kept going with the script.
When I asked for an escalation, the “advanced” technician also ran me through the same repetitive steps. To make matters worse, I noticed an HBO app plan had been added to my bill without my approval, on top of a $14 price increase. At that point, it just felt like shady tactics on top of bad service.
Today, I switched to Spectrum — and thankfully they had same-day installation available. The difference in responsiveness was night and day.
I had concerns about Optimum from the beginning, but they were our only option at the time. That’s no longer the case. If you have alternatives in your area, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Reliable service and honest billing shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

The absolute worst of the worst in terms of internet "no-service" providers. Constant outages, poor customer service and bait and switch pricing are normal for Optimum. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy! DO NOT USE OPTIMUM ISP!

To whom it may concern:
Be FOREWARNED on Optimum's bait n switch scams. I just activated on Oct 1, 2025 and I'm ready to disconnect and return back to ATT. Optimum offered 5 years price protection and they lied to me several times on this issue. Can't trust what these people offer. My time has been wasted, but at least I minimized the damage and ready to move back to ATT.
FYI, there is a person claiming to be from Optimum and this person may be phishing scam on personal information. I provided my full name, acct number with acct pin along with phone linked to the account via email and this person wants more personal info. I believe this individual is a scammer, so be FOREWARNED!

Internet is sketchy at best when it’s operating at their maximum capability. I’ve been with them for 5 weeks and this is the 3rd time their system has crashed. Been down for several hours and it cost me a wheel barrel full of money. Their system went lights out in the middle of an online poker tournament that I was in 3rd place with only 42 people still remaining out of 147 entries. I won an entry through a satellite tournament but only a handful of players were awarded prize seats. Cost to enter was $250 with a payout of $32,000 to the top 18 contestants. 1st place is $5,800. 2nd is $3,500. And it decreases all the way down to 18th place winning $400. I was in 3rd and was blinded completely out. I’m a disabled Veteran recovering from diverticulitis surgery last week at the VA Hospital in Temple Tx. I can’t just giddyup on my pony and gallop over to a working connection. At least the Cowboys will go all the way this year, unless Optimum gets involved.

Thought I'd ad to this as we just dropped our mobile service and will most likely drop our TV as response is terrible and so is the actual tv experience!>This service sucks and the support is terrible as they are clueless. Yesterday had problems which took an hour to solve and then did an upgrade, stupid me, which this morning I see hasn't worked. Recorded TV shows aren't what was asked for either and other times a recording which should be an hour can show up for 1 minute or less. This is what happens when we allow dominance in a market as will be leaving shortly even if I have less choice of shows but bet quality and service.
