Avoid this company—go elsewhere!

I booked a 9-seater for a 2-day hire, but the day before I was set to pick it up, they cancelled due to a "mechanical fault." They claimed there was no alternative vehicle available and offered a refund for the payment I had made three months in advance.

It should have been their responsibility to find another vehicle, but instead, they left me scrambling. Less than 24 hours before I needed hire. the alternative rentals I found that still had limited availability were now almost double the price, and yet Orange offered no assistance or compensation for the inconvenience.

After speaking to other local rental companies, I found out that this isn’t an isolated incident. It's likely that they rented the vehicle out to someone else for a longer period and a higher fee. In fact, it seems that the same vehicle is now booked for the next two weeks.

They couldn’t even tell me what the actual issue was with the vehicle—only that it had a warning light and was under warranty.

When I initially booked, and up until the last-minute cancellation on Friday, their website listed them as members of BVRLA. However, after filing a complaint with the BVRLA, I found out they aren’t members at all. The BVRLA is now investigating, and interestingly, Orange updated their website the same morning to remove any reference to BVRLA (screen shots of their website last week have been submitted).

There are plenty of other local rental companies that are more reliable, actually follow industry standards, and offer better customer protection. Orange, on the other hand, seems to make things up as they go along.

We rented a car quite last minute and it was a very good experience - great car, very friendly helpful people, no messing about like you sometimes get with other car rental companies.

Great team, always so friendly and responsive. Been renting from here for a couple of years, and maybe seven eight times now. We have loved hiring the VW ID3 as a longer range electric vehicle. It's quite space age with options for the car to help with a lot of the driving (but can opt out of that too). We've had no trouble charging it on long journeys at its compatible with fast chargers. We will certainly continue to access Orange Vehicle Rental and hope there will continue to be long range electric options

All communication is swift, clear and helpful. The vans (we have now rented twice) are immaculate and drive beautifully. I couldn't be more happy and would highly recommend

Truly great service. Staff at the Lewes branch really put the customer first and are flexible, friendly and offer very much 'old fashioned' personal service that seems to be so rare these days. We needed to manage a car, van and our own motorhome over a 4 day period as a result of a family wedding. The staff could not have been more helpful and supportive. Would unhesitatingly hire again. Highest commendation.

Lovely, easy people to deal with, stress free and very convenient. The vehicle was in excellent condition and checking back in was very smooth

Absolutely amazing , great friendly service and Elvis the motorhome behaved himself , we took him over to LeMans for the racing, we're a family of four and it was spacious & perfectly comfortable , we will be taking him again next year .

Fantastic company. Great motorhome…. We had Elvis to take to Le Mans…. Easy to drive, pretty good on gas, hot showers and cold fridge…. Comfy beds…. Amazing service by the team. Highly recommend. We can’t wait for our next trip!

Hired Wanda for 4 days … great motorhome, fully equipped with all the necessities you would need. Excellent instructional videos.

From the moment I booked, the service from south east motor homes was excellent. The motor home was brand new, great quality and perfect for our weekend. Would definitely use again

We rented Wanda, a four berth motorhome for our trip up to Scotland to travel the North Coast 500 Route. We were first time motorhomers, but we found the information we were given at handover together wirth the handover videos on the website gave us all the information we needed. We were away for 12 days and had an amazing time. Thank you South East Motorhome Rentals.

What I like about this rental company is there aren't any hidden costs or disposits like enterprise or choose rental do. You just pay for the cost of the vehicle and that is it, no extra £200! The staff is very friendly.
Only downside (if there has to be one) is you can only hire from 8am to 6pm or 10am to 8am (Sunday/Monday times).

My rental experience with Orange was a pleasure. Everyone there was so very friendly and helpful. The car was spotless. Rental pricing is quite competitive. The availability of on site parking is a huge plus in Lewes where spaces (and the price) are dear. This vehicle rental with Orange was easily the best rental experience that I have ever had! Orange gets my highest recommendation.

Needed to hire a van unexpectedly. Phoned up in hope rather than expectation however with 30mins I was in the van. Full of fuel so didn’t have to waste time filling it up straight away. I dealt with Natalie who was very efficient, informative and helpful. She could tell I was in a hurry and had all the paperwork ready when I arrived. The van was clean and lovely to drive. Highly recommended which I’m finding myself say less and less these days. Definitely will use again. Also location is spot on. Saved the day as I run a Bouncy Castle company.

Very professional and friendly service from the whole team, happy to answer all my questions. Franco was very clean and well equipped, and easy to operate. Overall a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely hire from Orange again.
