I bought the OtO smart lawn watering system because it was heavily marketed as a sustainable, premium smart irrigation solution, but my experience was disappointing. After only about 2.5 years, the unit failed and became unusable due to the solid red light issue, which is unacceptable for a product costing around $500. A system that needs replacement after such a short time is not truly sustainable. Real sustainability also means durability, longevity, and reducing electronic waste. The water-saving claims sound great in marketing, but they lose credibility when the product itself does not last.

I purchased two OtoLawns towards the tail end of summer and I want to share how great my experience was. It takes a little bit of time to get devices configured and your lawn mapped out, but once you have everything setup - these devices just work. The customer service and support from Oto is also top notch, you can tell that everyone in the organization genuinely cares and wants you to have a good experience with the product. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who interested in having a green lawn with minimal work.

I purchased my OtoLawn robot sprinkler a little over two years ago. It worked great for two full seasons, and I was initially really impressed with the concept—smart zoning, solar power, and hands-off watering were game changers for my lawn.

Unfortunately, right after the warranty expired this year (literally just a couple months later), the device went completely dead. I followed all troubleshooting steps, checked the power, Wi-Fi, cleaned the unit, reset it—nothing worked. It’s now a $500 brick sitting in my garage.

I reached out to support, and they offered $150 off a replacement. While I appreciate the gesture, that’s not an acceptable solution for a premium product that failed right after its warranty ended. I can’t justify spending $500+ every 2.2 years to keep my lawn watered.

Update 7/20/2025: OTO contacted me and shipped me a replacement unit. They did not have to do this. I was clearly past the warranty date, so kudos to them.
