My mentor and adviser was Matthew Dunsmore. I couldn’t ask for a better match. He was professional and helped me see potential where I thought there might be weakness. He assisted me in recreating my CV, improving my LinkedIn profile, and provided proper guidance during my job search. I initially believed I would not find a role in my current company, but I was successful. During this process, I faced setbacks in other interviews, but Matthew and I had sessions analysing what could have been said better. With each interview, I grew more confident, and the last one was truly a result of hard work and overcoming overwhelming thoughts during the interview. I had the initial call and I was meant to receive a further follow up call the week after but didn’t hear anything back. I sent my CV over for review but didn’t hear back. Shame, as I genuinely thought the initial call was very positive and was keen to see what else came from it.

This is the usual phoney hand-wringing. PECR requires active informed consent *PRIOR* to sending email/text, since 2003. My undeleted spam bucket has thirteen, since at least 03 Dec 2024, from outplacementfirst.co.uk. So, using the timestamp above, they should audit the outbound campaigns, think where they've bought dodgy lists from. Also update blasts to comply with the Companies Act by having legal imprint on them (company number, registered address, country of registration etc), which they're too ashamed to put on the Contact Us page (have to drill through the Privacy Policy to cross reference to Companies House). Who thinks processing the personal data of at least the "very small selection" of 66 team members - but only 6 on the last audited accounts - and the 95% of applicants they brag about rejecting, let alone client data qualifies as a "Tier 1" registrant on ICO's register of fee payers(Z5575027)? More I scratch the more stinky this outfit appears.
Edit: 2025-11-12, more nags from TrustPilot, saying if I don't furnish the spammers with my email, name and phone number then my review might be taken off line.

After being made redundant - as part of the service I was introduced to Mark, who over a number of sessions supported, encouraged and guided me. If you are 'lucky' enough to be in this sad situation - Mark is a terrific listener - has a wealth of advice and knowledge and will help you sort yourself out for your next move in life.

Basic support provision
Was provided Outplacement First support by my company while being made redundant. The only support I had was 3 phone calls before redundancy and a periodic e-mail to ask if I'd secured any interviews. There was no offer of interview preparation help when I said I had an interview and no follow up calls held (yet I know other colleagues were offered this). The online help centre was incredibly basic. Really disappointing as they weren't there when I really needed them.

It can be a lonely business seeking a new job opportunity. It's when you need support the most as it's when self doubt and imposter syndrome can kick in. Having a key contact from someone outside your friendship group and family means you get impartial support at a time when it really counts. Having Matthew with me on the journey meant a lot.
