King's Ransom and you don't know if I have data.
I paid a King's ransom for this service and a week later I get an e-mail wondering if I received my data, did not receive my data or I cancelled my order. Well, that means that you have no idea what is going-on, despite having taken nearly $1000 from me. Next time, I will go with another vendor..

They were successful recovering data…
They were successful recovering data from a broken flash drive. They will make you wait the full time for data extraction if you don't upgrade to the next level. In my case, I was told they were shipping it to me and gave me a tracking number. I selected to download the data and had to send an email to get it corrected.
Bottom line! They did it! Thank you!
If I could give it 0 stars I would
We sent in a project for data recovery. We expected a 2-week turnaround as advertised. However, after about a month of you still having our hard drive and we had heard nothing back we finally called. They stated that because the hard drive was in poor physical condition it would take about a week longer for the data to be recovered. Another month went by and still, there was 0 communication. We finally received a notice that our data had been recovered 2 months after they received the hard drive. On top of that, we requested overnight shipping because we were assured by them that the project would show up the next day. Take note that the next day is a Saturday and technically our business was not open we had an employee track the package so we could have someone here for its arrival. They provided us with the incorrect tracking number so the package was not delivered till the following Tuesday. We are also a business that deals with tech so we are very understanding that sometimes things take more time, however, this is not a cheap service that we are paying for and that absolute lack of communication was unacceptable.

The process was so simple and I was always informed of what process we were in and then going to.
Later on Order
They recorded all the data. I am not giving a 5-star because I had to call twice after they said the data was ready. The 1st time I called they said that it would be sent today or tomorrow. Five days later I called again and they said they had trouble sending it automatically, so they sent it by hand. They said I could have received it 13 days ago. I operate a small shop and that was a customer order.

I own a computer repair shop in San Diego, SD Bytes. I've been working with Outsource Data for about 6 years now and they are the only data recovery company I use. Honest, great at recovery and best prices I have found.

Success!
Thank you for the successful data recovery! The team did a great job recovering the data from a mechanical drive.
Don't be fooled
This all could have been avoided if they would have simply diagnosed the drive, gave us a quote/price for the recovery and we could have done business together. Our customer was totally ok with paying Drive Savers fees as she wants the data recovered no matter how much it cost. But I suggested we try Outsource as they have had a lower cost in the past. But they had to be greedy and require a nonsense open seal fee just to diagnose it. Don't be fooled. These guys have a misleading front page add that claims "If we cannot recover your data, we have a no data, no fee policy. You will not pay anything." This statement is false advertising. They have fine print on another page that contradicts this statement in an "Advanced" section. So if the seal is broken on your drive, this statement is false. I sent in a Seagate drive for "free diagnosis" that they wanted to charge me $99 to diagnose due to the seal being removed. The sad thing is, the customer gave me the go ahead to pay whatever the final fee was up to $3500 to recover her data, but I promised the customer it would be free diagnosis due to their front page wording. The customer did not want to pay unless the place could guarantee recovery. I cannot tell the customer they need to pay $99 to assess it after I already told her it would be free. I contacted Ashley (a manager) and she could care less. She had all the tender sweetness of a robot reading a script. I dont mind taking my business solely to Drive Savers as they dont play these games. They freely assess your drive and give you a final price. I refuse to give them my customers business based on this ridiculous fee. If they were smart they would have just diagnosed it and rolled their $99 fee into the final price. They would have saved a sale and made much more money. I was hoping I could find a place a little cheaper than Drive Savers, but not like false or misleading advertising. Ill stick with Drive Savers.
Service has gone downhill
Service has gone downhill to the point we are sourcing to a different company. We sent in a drive for repair that had no power (bad PCB) and were incorrectly told it had no power issue at all and required a $600 recovery. Another recovery we sent in resulted in a file list that we approved but the target media was sent back blank after we paid. We had to ship a new destination drive for your staff to transfer it again. A third drive we sent in was a helium 18tb drive. You guys can't work on those, so it was sent back to us as unrecoverable. The drive was unopened so we questioned the results. We sent the drive to Drive Savers and got a full recovery.
The unrecoverable rate on drives we send in has climbed to over 80% so we started sending the drives to another provider for second opinions.
30% of Outsource "unrecoverable" drives were actually recoverable.
Can't get through on phones half of the time so we have to email and wait for responses. Not efficient or professional and certainly no loner the value it once was.
were are unable to download any of this we need help.
Could've done better. Received most files.
Liked:
• They were able get most of my files
Disliked:
• I had to keep reminding them about my project
-The estimated 2 week deadline had passed & I heard nothing. Then I called a few days after & received no answer. They then responded to my email later saying it would be no later than a day later.
- Approved the file list & was told I would receive a link shortly but no response until I reach out a week after the files were approved. They were then sent out later that night after an email.
• I did not get all my files. Most of the files that were on the approved file list were corrupted. I was not able to tell that from the file list, only from trying to open them.
Excellent service and they were able to…
Excellent service and they were able to recover the data.
Got all my data back
Got all my data back. Had a USB drive with critical data that wasn't backed up and the control board went out. OSDR retrieved the data and sent it back on a new drive. It wasn't cheap but I had to have the data and they got it back in a reasonable time.
Good data extraction, OK servicing
Overall, I liked that they solved a problem. However, the path towards solving it could be improved. After receiving my drive, they were waiting for my response to progress. I wasn't notified in any way. An email, text, or call would have moved things along much faster.
After approving the work, they did a fine job. I needed to pay for a new hard drive for them to put the data on and ship it to me. They list prices but not make/model/form factor or anything about the hard drive other than the storage capacity. The prices were steeper than going to your favorite store/website, purchasing something, and sending it in. Of course, I assumed it was the same form factor (3.5" drive) that I sent in. I received a 2.5" drive instead. Not a problem, but it was a surprise.

Excelent work recovered all my data and at a resonable price and quick response!! This is my second experience with them and I highly recommend them!
Outsource Data Recovery was able to get the job done.
Outsource Data Recovery was able to recover all my data from an electronic device that could not be fixed. They were readily available when I called and answered all my questions. The recovery was completed in a timely manner. Their website keeps you updated on the status of the recovery.
Quoted $299 & 2 wks. Was $598 & 2+ months
I was quoted at $299 (55GB) and two weeks turn around time. They're charging me $598 and it's been over 2 months and I'm still waiting on it to be sent to me.
They confirmed receiving my drive on Oct 20th. It's now Dec 23rd and the status is "Shipping label has been created".
I feel pretty ripped off.
