48 hours waiting for a 4 EUR VPS, and support can't even cancel it
I ordered a basic VPS for about 4 EUR because I needed to set up and launch a project right away. Instead of getting a server, the order went into "validation". Support told me it can take up to 48 hours and they can't speed it up.
Fine, I said, then just cancel the order and I'll go elsewhere. First I was told company accounts aren't eligible for cancellation. Then that the order is being checked for "possible irregularities" like account or bank details not matching. When I asked again to simply cancel it, the agent said he doesn't have the rights to cancel an order in validation.
Meanwhile the money is blocked on my card as a pre-authorization. So I can't use the service, I can't cancel it, and I'm supposed to sit and wait up to two days for a 4 EUR server. I've never seen anything like this. Every other provider I've used activates a VPS in minutes.
If you need to verify customers, do it before you take the payment, or at least let people cancel. I'm ordering from Hetzner instead.

Fast and correct solution
Infuriating control panel experience already on day 1
I have only been an OVHcloud client for a few hours and already have control panel rage. Sadly given I am writing this review only a few hours after contracting the service, Nothing positive has happened, my nameservers did not even propagate yet so I only have negative experiences.
During checkout a product called Zimbra was added to my order. I did not know what Zimbra is but the total payment was correct for the domain I was buying so I figured Zimbra was not charged and I could just cancel it when my account was set up.
However. Two hours later. It is impossible to cancel Zimbra. According to the help pages, nobody has every considered that anyone might want Zimbra so there is no information about cancelling it.
The service appears in my dashboard and in the extended menu there is even an option "Cancel subscription." Except it doesn't work. It says "An error has occurred cancelling the service. Cannot set terminationFlag 'terminateAtExpirationDate' on an engaged service" I do not know what any of that means specifically, but practically, it means I am not allowed to cancel Zimbra or the website is broken and does not cancel it when asked.
Also in the dashboard, it tells me that Zimbra is set to renew automatically on 3 September 2027. So in a year I will start paying for Zimbra I presume. According to my bill I just paid today. The annual price for Zimbra is 3,60€.
3,60€ is not much. Actually it is less value than the 2 hours I have spent trying to cancel the service.
Anyway. In the /billing/autorenew/services pane view. There is some good news. I can select Zimbra in the list, and choose from the actions menu. "Disable automatic payment." So I did that...
The next page says "Please note that once the service expires, it will be immediately suspended." Perfect. Because I did not want this service anyway. Having it suspended would be a perfect resolution.
Click "Confirm" at the bottom
There's a catch, it is administration theatre. Because absolutely nothing happens. I still have automatic payments for this Zimbra service.
There is another error message: An error has occurred disabling automatic renewal
75512855: Cannot be manual
I did send an email to support, they might respond, but this is a lot of friction to stick on new clients.
I will summarise.
OVHcloud adds unwanted services to your order. They are impossible to cancel. And the management of the automatic payment also does not work.
At this point I am wondering whether the only way to rid myself of Zimbra is to transfer the domain out to a different registrar (if that even works with OVHcloud) and then delete my entire account and payment information from OVHcloud.
Nothing I have tried in the control panel even works.
Update 1. it is now 5 days after my review and i got a response to my ticket. The agent told me to try to cancel the service via the beta navigation view. I did. it showed as "solicitud de baja." Then I checked again later and it was just showing as active again.
They closed my ticket so I cannot reply again. Now I need to open a new ticket.
Update 2: OVH cloud has now deactivated Zimbra

No support, constant issues
They have deleted the free support ticket "Your support level does not allow you to submit a request for guidance on using OVHcloud services." (not guidance, I'm trying to report an invoice error from their part), their live chat replies with "We apologize, but all of our advisors are currently busy.", they have constant network issues in the Cloud, even using the 3-AZ services: they can cut your service by almost 48 hours and they won't help you. They will say: "we have an incidence reported, please wait". No money refund or discounts, no reliability, no support. I was paying around 900€ per month by their Cloud Services and CDN, so I wasn't a cheap customer. This review will get a reply from OVH like "I'd like to request some more information from you to help me investigate this issue. Can you please provide me with your OVHcloud ID or email.", but man, put an agent in a customer that will spend +10k per year, don't wait to the Trustpilot review. There are providers cheaper and more reliable out there.

I've been always very satisfied with ovh in general. Great IT infrastructure at controlled price.
Today I am also pleased with the resolution with a billing issue I've had, ticket CS15359838. The agent was understanding of my situation, and the solution provided was satisfactory.

OVH - cheap and supports a lot of domains but...
Update:
I wanna make a fair assessment - after I was angry at OVH. (original review below)
Pros:
- supports a lot of TLDs (.de, .fr, .se, .fi, etc.)
- usually cheap, with fair renewal rates
- domains can be transferred for free between OVH accounts. (Using Gemini)
Cons:
- customer care is almost impossible to access. 99% is just faq posts or AI redirecting to faq posts.
- nameserver update was slow to propagate
- dashboard feels buggy, often out of sync (Some of my urls are randomly not listed. They are accessible, if I url-hack. Sometimes I get a blank white screen when I try to log in.)
- renewal prices are not listed on the dashboard nexst to the domain, can be accessed externally through as advised by Gemini
Original post:
I had two issues that make OVH a cheap, but not very comfortable partner for me:
- When changing nameservers, my sites went down for two days. (Other registars somehow usually solved it in two hours...)
- The customer care is almost impossible to get.
They forced me to get a "Spanish" account because I am a Spanish business, and then they charged me IVA because their system does not handle IGIC and thus I could not write in my VAT number.
Now, when I managed to somehow trick the system to talk to me, they asked for a range of documents to prove that I am the business that I am, then no response whatsoever.
Update on the original post:
After my review, I got response from OVH.
They did update me not to charge me IVA - unfortunately their system does not seem to be equipped to handle IGIC (which even in the response Liam didn't seem to understand that it is not a VIES VAT and thus it cannot be validated as ES+IVA number), so they put my number into the "Intra-community IVA" which it isn't but I looked it up and it is the correct decision not to charge me IVA.
On the other points: OVH-s dashboard does seem to fight hard not to give access to customer care and the particularities of the Spanish tax system are not addressed well.
For the contrast: I use more domain registars, including Rackforest.hu and Cyberfolks.hr, where I could just directly place a message, and in case Rackforest didn't provide a feature on the dash (the DS), they did it for me in a couple hours via email.
Because now I have two accounts (due to the incompatibility), and on the older account I can still not deduct IVA, and it is super hard to access the customer care, if it makes financial sense, I'll move those domains to a different registar instead of trying to fight OVH.
So, all in all, I updated my valuation to 3.
At the end of the day, OVH still is a registar with good prices, and I just bring my nameservers to CloudFlare anyway, and then the registar doesn't play much of a role from then on - unless billing and cost deduction but it is fairly negligable even if they are not the best in it.

Avoid - Cheap, but it's a false economy, and very hard to cancel
Poorly designed and limited tooling, cheap (note that the €200 introductory offer applies only for 1 month, ending with no warning) but not worthwhile. Slow provisioning, limited cloud services available, and almost impossible to actually cancel (due to a combination of impenetrable UI - even worse than AWS - and extremely slow support processes). Avoid.

Terrible company. I stopped using their services a while ago, deleted everything from the account (it shows "You have no services") and still every month they charge me ~1 euro and no one can figure out for what services and how to cancel it.
