People also express frustration over assignments not being marked and delays in receiving certificates, with some waiting months. Warning to others

Warning to others — possible scam or unethical practices

I enrolled my son with Oxbridge (online course provider) and paid around £1,500 for a course that was advertised at £1,000. Soon after payment, the company stopped answering calls or emails. Their accounts appear overdue, and I have since learned they are reportedly going into administration next month.

Despite this, their website is still active and continues to take enrolments and send emails using different names, which raises serious concerns about their business conduct.

We received no proper communication, no refund, and no course delivery. I’m posting this review to warn other parents and students to be cautious before paying any money. Please research carefully and check their financial status before enrolling.

Company gone into solvency but still…

Company gone into solvency but still operating and selling courses. complete disgrace. Matt Jones cleverly CEO continues trading using a new company logo. . Meanwhile students are left without assignments being marked, no predictive grades or academic references for university next year. Before you respond with "contact us to discuss the matter." SOLUTION. Transfer all existing students to your other company free of charge and allow them to continue their studies. I know there is absolutely no point in trying to call /email as they do not respond.

We can go after the director personally

I’ve been doing research as they owe me £7.6K for Alevel courses and their exams, which I paid via bank transfer 2 months ago and will no longer receive.

They are still taking payments, I posed as a prospective student 2 days ago and they called and emailed me within MINUTES trying to sell me courses.

If you google “gov uk object to a limited company being struck off”, it should take you to the gov page about how to object to a limited company being struck off

I can’t find the details of Oxbridge online on the gazette but my next step will be to figure this out and object to them being struck off. If they’ve already been struck off, you can petition for them to be reinstated in cases where they still owe people money. A new law was established in 2022 that allows you to hold directors financially accountable for debt as a means of preventing companies from “phoenixing” after covid loans, but it should work in this case too. It seems that the director Matt Jones has done exactly this, carrying on business as usual with “Barton College”. I will be looking for lawyers to help now. I do think that if this was done collectively, it will be more powerful. All of us need to work together somehow.

All style and very little substance

I am not at all surprised that this company has gone into administration. They should have spent more time and effort on providing high-quality teaching materials and less on trying to obtain 5-star reviews for minor interactions that have nothing to do with the teaching or materials. The prices were inflated to start with and my materials full of errors. After weeks of conveying my corrections to my tutor (I'm a proofreader), I eventually wrote a letter of complaint, to which I've never had a reply. That's simply rude. I have taken multiple home learning courses over the years and this was by far the worst. Just because something is online doesn't mean you shouldn't stick to the same standards required to produce a book. That means thorough editing and proofreading. The only good thing about the course (Astronomy) was my tutor who is a true professional.

This too! BBC South also ran a feature in their evening news on 10th October 2025. 8:12 in.

I understand the owner has bought the rights from himself and has another similar company. Don't get scammed.

Absolutely disgusting joined in late august when they knew they was going bust. Lost £600 and I think I saw they are under a new name Barston or something.
If they are we should all boycott the reviews and site so people are aware not to waste anymore money.
They knew they was going bust and basically conned people out of money.
They don't even deserve one star.

I just cant believe

I just can’t believe that this can happen in this country, college under administration, students left alone facing all this stress without any straight forward action to help gain our qualification. Apparently it’s our responsibility to find know another college to transfer our work which is not working for me, i have contacted couple of colleges and non of them is accepting my course work. How how is possible this, two years of all that effort and work and time to finish the course and know im left alone waiting if i can get the refund and what next, start again the course from beginning? Unbelievable.

Absolutely furious

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOW IN ADMINISTRATION AND ARE FOR SOME REASON STILL ACCEPTING STUDENTS. Ive lost £300, my qualification and potential work due to oxbridge going into administration with at least a years intetnal knowledge of their ongoing issues which would result in administration. I started my course a year ago! Absolutely furious that they allowed people to spend hundreds of qualifications they knew they couldn't fulfil.

No contact after registering

No contact after registering. What couple of weeks I had admin was terrible after signing up and the Tutor was even worse. I am finally now aware the company is no longer accredited since it has gone into administration and it took them 2 months to tell me! Now I am at risk of not going on into University on time.

I am going through my credit card company to get a refund under section 75. I suggest you do the same asap too since it like likely to take between 60-120 days to sort it out. I have no faith in this company to progress with a refund via them, but if its your only option then do it asap.
I have also been looking to switch to other accredited online colleges, however none are accepting and have to begin again from the start. Open Award is not helpful at all and were quite abrupt actually. (Exam board) The department of education knows nothing and cannot help. National careers service were nice but not much help either. I literally have to begin from the beginning, which is also a shame because the course via Oxbridge was fine, it was just ruined by admin and tutors who failed their students and the company in my experience.

Further to my other review

Further to my other review, an update. I have spoken to the news editor at BBC and they are starting research today.

Being interviewed on camera with BBC tomorrow morning. Will keep this review updated.
Second update. My daughter and myself were interviewed by BBC South (we are in Oxfordshire) and it will be aired this evening at 6.30pm. As yet Oxbridge have failed to respond to their contact BBC.
I have also emailed Ms Bridget Phillipson who is the Secretary of State education for the UK requesting her help and possible intervention. I will keep you posted.

So they are now in administration after stealing

So they are now in administration after receiving the email ! I hope they hang their heads in shame after taking our money!

Matthew Jones and Stacey Ryan - you should be ashamed!

For anyone who still needs support with finding tutors and / or to sit their exams, I reached out to Tutors & Exams (I sat my exams with another provider at their centres last year) and they are offering support to tutors and candidates all affected by Oxbridge. They have a dedicated team offering support to get everyone sorted

You can email them at support @ tutorsandexams.uk.
