Love the relaxing atmosphere
Love the relaxing atmosphere, great food and Debbie is so welcoming! Great quirky crockery, always spotlessly clean.

I Recently had a lovely breakfast in the Gunwharf store, The staff were very kind and helped me to the table, And made me feel very accommodated, Service was fast and the food was delicious. I recommend anyone in the area to give the place a try!
Such a shame about the menu, no vegetarian sandwiches or mains!? Only 2 options of food a jacket potato (cheese n beans) or cheese omelette.
Compared to other places seems very limited for any dietary requirements for a place that has a large lunch menu. not even a salad without meat which shouldn't be hard to do -they did used to have a goats cheese one.
Even the pancakes have bacon, and you have to request them without and no additional ingredient/replacement - really poorly considered. Very poor choice for anything not with meat? And if you were after vegan I'd say avoid, unfortunately.
LEAVE WELL ALONE. ( Gunwharf ). They DO NOT care about customer feedback. In the present time ANY company that has no email address should not be trusted. Despite contacting through Facebook Messenger as requested they simply IGNORE you. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
We ordered 3 mini English and one without beans (due to an intolerance). When the waitress arrived we noticed each plate came with beans and mouldy bread so we sent it all back to be replaced. When I went to the front to get some water, I saw the chef using his hands (without gloves) to take the bacon, sausage and hash brown off my friends plate and leave the beans on there. After working in a kitchen myself this is very poor hygiene and unacceptable. We were offered nothing to compensate for any of this, and the attitude of the staff made us feel very uncomfortable, all huddled around at the front and like we were an inconvenience for bringing it up to them. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Very disappointing. There are few teashops in Gunwharf Quays so this was a great discovery - or so we thought.
It was 4 30pm when we ordered and I thought I'd treat myself to the £18.95 cream tea as it's Mother's Day. My daughter came with me to place the order and asked for a slice of the fudge cake. A person I took to be the manager refused and he said it was "for tomorrow." I thought he was joking so I asked again. Again I was told no, it's for tomorrow. I advised that I was planning on ordering more but decided against it because I did not like his attitude.
I had already ordered the peri peri fries (which, incidentally, were lovely, as was the coffee, pot of tea and brownie) so continued with the order without the cream tea.
At 4.45 two ladies came in and asked for some of the cake on display and were told the same thing as me. Subsequently they left without ordering so a further loss of business due to the attitude of this man.
The girl who served the teas and coffees was absolutely lovely but this man really spoiled our overall experience.
First impressions are lasting impressions and although the food my family had was lovely we won't be returning. From the attitude shown to us as customers I feel sure that this man will not care.
To make matters worse, another lady staff member there said she'd read my review and that it "was ok". I pointed out that it wasn't ok to treat paying customers in that manner. I can see from reviews here that poor staff attitude is nothing new at this venue so how they hope to run a successful business is beyond me.
Avoid this place at all costs. The brunette lady who served us was very rude and acted like she was doing me a huge favour by letting me order. Eye rolls, huffs of impatience and a complete lack of basic courtesy.
Speaking of prices, prepare to be gouged. The menu is a masterclass in highway robbery and I would expect table service at these prices. Every item is grossly overpriced. My fish finger sandwich and fries were dry and flavourless and clearly had been reheated multiple times.
In short, below average food, surly staff and a real rip off.
Vastly overpriced for what you get, not just with quantity but quality too. I'd expect table ordering at this price point but even with till ordering the staff are generally not very interested in you and make you feel as though you're interupting their day. I've been to far better places locally that provide good service, quality food and much, much better value.
The location is nice, although this doesn't mitigate against the bad points.
Called in there when visiting friends and a little gem of a place. On the day we went it was quite cool but the place was very busy.
It has a good atmosphere, a great menu and service very quick. Food was very good and reasonably priced - I had coronation chicken sandwich and could not fault it.
Only small downside was there is pay and display parking but that is not the fault of the restaurant.
Will definitely return on next visit.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to gauge/rate the place. We visited Portsmouth on the day of the Great South Run with our friendly Cocker Spaniel because we thought it looked nice. When we arrived, we were forced to wait outside until 'eventually' a woman arrived. No apology for the delay, she took one look at us (up and down) and without a friendly hello or any form of welcome it was "sorry, no dogs". Quite surprising since the place is located on green parkland with many people walking their dogs, but OK, they don't like dogs. We questioned it, but she simply repeated herself. No offer of outside seating, no explanation just "no dogs"! Won't be rushing back. Went somewhere else and had a delicious breakfast! It was so friendly and welcoming at the other venue we went back after the race for a Sunday Roast each! Spent close onto £75 (with drinks) and will be going back there again next week as they were so nice to both of us and welcomed our little pet who got free biscuits.
From arrival the lady who turnt out to be manager sat us with a careless attitude. The manager has clearly influenced her female staffs performance, as all was as inconsiderate, rude and abrupt as her, (other than the male server)really taking away from the beauty of this tearoom. If you can tolerate bad customer service in a hostile environment due to staff the food and cake is real feel good food.
I came for lunch as a treat and wow was it a treat. For the first time in a long time I visited a restaurant and actually got what I ordered and plenty of it, the food is gorgeous.
The staff are very pleasant and the dining area is spotless and fresh. Will definitely be back.
At last somewhere that actually delivers what they say!! Keep it up ! Oh I nearly forgot and the cakes ! Well try for yourself
