This is a fantastic app

This is a fantastic app. It makes it so easy to double check information the schools have sent and for the schools to give instant updates (like if sports day has been rained off). Wouldn't be without it.

I have been working very closely with ParentMail for the past few months and their customer service is excellent. ParentMail has really streamlined our internal processes, improved parental engagement and is saving us money on printing, stationery and postage.

From both sides......

As a parent I find the App easy to use and navigate. However, reading through the reviews I have seen one that suggests you can easily delete emails by clicking the "bin" icon- this option does not appear on our App, we can archive but not delete.
As a member of school office staff we find the communication option fabulous Texts, emails, parents evening and trips are so easy to manage but the payments side is frustrating and leaves a lot to be desired!

Reliable, could be more user friendly

I guess it’s up to the school how much info and transactions or events they use Parentmail for. I find it reliable. However, I would suggest there are too many sub categories that tings can be filed under. A search possibility might be nice. Also took me a while to figure out how to buy something (schoo dinner for eg), payments and shop could go together imo. Would be nice to have one view of all that is current and pending per child (pta meet, trip installment, news, school dinner etc)

A very good system.

A very good system.
Never had any issues with it - easy and straightforward to use - especially for making payments for my son's food, trips and equipment.

Example of utter computer science incompetence

Example of utter computer science incompetence.

It uses unique index on accounts based on phone, not on the account ID - your mail. As a result you cannot have accounts for two children with the same phone. It is incapable to merge two accounts into one or add a child to an existing account.

Whoever wrote the core data backend would have failed a basic CS exam in the days I went to University. Not sure how he (or she) managed to pass it today.

Hi Anton, I'm afraid this is not correct! You can indeed have multiple children feeding into one account regardless of whether they attend different schools! All you need to do is ensure your school has the same email address for you and you can simply connect to each school, as a result, messages will all feed into one account. If you'd like to discuss further, please don't hesitate to contact us at feedback@parentmail.co.uk and we'll be more than happy to help.

Frustrating

Frustrating. Seems to have been set up with a 'one size fits all' attitude. School dont seem to be able to tailor communication to year groups so half of whats received isnt relevant. My only cherub in yr7 so family doesn't need to know about yr11 focus groups or yr9 parents evenings. Communication centre also sends texts with info, then emails it, then texts you again to tell you that you need to log in to view same info they just sent! Cant you just pick one preffered method?! And why set minimum dinner money balance at £5 when the minimum top up is £10? Seeing the balance updated daily is helpful though.

Hi Sal, the system has in fact been built so that schools can tailor messages for year groups, class groups, or even individuals! If you'd like to send us the name of the school to feedback@parentmail.co.uk we can certainly get in touch with them to help provide some extra training should they need it. In regards to the communications you are receiving, e.g. duplicates via SMS and Email, unfortunately this is down to your school and out of our control. If you feed this back to the school they may be willing to make changes going forward! Finally, the minimum balance is again up to the school and may be worth discussing with them directly! We hope this helps, please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

Terrible application. Not user friendly. Difficult to use. Impossible to search. I have over 400 unread messages, good luck with sorting this. School claims this is the best tool on the market. Very hard to believe. If you get the chance to influence whether parentmail is used, find something else. Carrier pigeon would probably be better.

Hi Richard, we're sorry to hear this - as you can see from the many reviews left here this is not the usual user experience and we would welcome you to email feedback@parentmail.co.uk with some more information to see if we can improve the user experience. In regards to the 400 unread messages, you can open these in bulk through the app or of course you can read them as and when they come in! We hope this helps and that going forward your experience with ParentMail improves.
