Hi.this is my recent experience with Parr Facilities Managment UK..I am a professional painter and decorator with 35 years experience in the commercial and private sector. I applied for a painters ad on Indeed, the painters were to work day shift at Bupa in Blackpool,The Bupa was on Lytham Road. I worked Friday from 12 noon till 5pm,to get the job started as there were no more painters that were on the job .Dean Hillman, the foreman of Parr Facilities Managment in Manchester, who was running the job told me "well done for making a fast start",and that "the job had to be finished by Monday" Tthen he had to go elsewhere .I worked on Saturday when two more agency decorators from Leeds were also painting. We worked Saturday /Sunday and finished it on Monday. Dean said he was very happy with the work and would I like some night shifts on a Bupa in Thornton . I was paid fully for working the hours I had done.on the Lyham road Bupa, I then started the Victoria Road West inThornton Cleveleys in Blackpool on the Monday 16th September 7pm to 3am . Painters had already been around it, but had not finished the glossing on the doors/frames/and skirtings which myself and another agency decorator from Southport began to finish. .Parrs cards in painters were all of the opinion that there was too much work to be completed in the time scale that was left ,ie 2 days. We worked 2 more nights 5 pm to 3am .and got the job finished, and I was told that they were happy with my work.and would I like some more night work on the other Bupa in Cleveleys, I agreed and started the other Cleveleys job on Cleveleys Ave Thornton on Wed 18th..5pm to 3am..Thurs 19th..5pm to 3am Friday20th..5pm to 3am..and Monday 23rd 5pm to 3am .all being 10 hour shifts Dean said the bannister rail was too bumpy from previous years of paint build up so i completely stripped the bannister rail down to bare wood and made right, he was well happy and asked me over the phone whether I would like to come up Ulverston with them starting a Bupa up there. This was 3 weeks ago and unfortunately for me Dean has changed his mind about how much he liked my work and is refusing my phone calls and not answering any of my texts. Today he texted me stating that he was only thinking about paying me for 30 hours instead of the 58 hard graft hours that I had worked. I stated that his boss Mr Stephen Parr is going to be notified and he came back straight away with anonther 10 hours ie 40 hours,.but he did say that i was going to be docked 18 hours because 3 .x 3 inch postit stickers on the ground floor bathroom had been painted over. On the last night shift the Parr plasterer, who was working with me, gave the loo its second coat, possibly he might have painted over them by accident in the dark,as the light in the loo was not working I painted around them. Either way Dean is adamant that its going to cost me 18hours, which at the rate of what i was earning means that it will cost me £342.but of course I am struggling to be paid at all and he owes me 58 hours, and it looks like I am going to have to take them to the small Claims Court in Blackpool to get the money I am owed. I know also he docks hours from most people that come from the agency making up feeble excuses and holds back their hours. In 35 years no one has ever made a bad comment on my work as it is completed to a very high standard. My advice to any workers is avoid Parrs at all costs,as a multi-million pound company seems to have forgotten about its roots and i can see why they don't have too many cards in people working for them and have to rely on agency workers.
Please be warned that if you work for this company you have to fight to get paid.
Thank you P.G.(Blackpool)
